$29 USD (ouch!) gets you this for lunch.

Holy cow (pun intended) the burgers here are not only tasty but they are pricey! If you enjoy a great flat top smash on your meat, I can highly recommend grabbing a bite at a Gasoline Grill. This is a small chain that appears to have a good following in Denmark. It reminds me a bit like In N Out Burgers of California fame. The menu is limited and they try to offer a few things other than burgers but really, if you don't like burgers or are a vegetarian, I'm not sure why you would choose to eat here. For those of us who are solid carnivores, this place is the bomb for a messy, smashed patty style burger. Did I mention messy? These are juice dripping down your chin kind of messy from a combination of velvety beef fat mixed with burger sauce (Gasoline Grill's version of thousand island dressing). They top their burgers with cheese if you want it, some red onion and a few sweet, crinkle cut pickles all surrounded by a soft brioche style bun. Simple but deeply satisfying. Their fries are institutionally frozen crinkle cuts, fried and hand salted before bagging. They are good but definitely play distant second to their burgers. The downsides here are they are limited on service and on places to eat. This location at 1:30pm had 2 cooks and a cashier promoting a lineup out the door. At one point I watched 1 cook make their own lunch and leave for the back room to eat and the cashier was in and out of the back trying to eat as well in between taking orders. That left 1 poor guy manning the entire kitchen with lots of customers waiting. I suppose that they can get away with it because no one in the line left but it makes for a really inefficient and long wait for lunch. The other issue is that there is absolutely nowhere to sit and eat. There is a narrow shelf like counter on one wall of the restaurant that can accommodate maybe 8 or 10 people standing shoulder to shoulder sardine style eating while facing the wall. No seats outside and this particular location really has nowhere close that would be appropriate to sit and enjoy lunch so there were people who were eating while sitting on the curb, or using the stone wall across the street by a set of bike racks to lay their lunch on. Again, it seems to work as nobody left because of it, but it is a really inconvenient way to try to eat a fairy messy burger and a bad look for the neighborhood. Would it kill them to put a few small tables and chairs around? It seemed like all the locals were very happy so maybe this is just my elitist American entitlement showing through as a bias. Finally, the prices here are not cheap. I think everything in Denmark is not cheap but really this is simply a cheeseburger and fries. I added a beer to that and my lunch was about US$29! For that money, the food was simple and the environment was not great since you had to eat in a rush standing up and then clear out. It probably works better late at night if you are drunk and don't care, but for the majority of people trying to grab lunch during a workday, this would not rank high on my list of places to go unless you were really dying for a great cheeseburger. Four stars for the burger and three stars for everything else. That gets them overall 3.5 stars, but since I can't give them half a star, I will round them up. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed what I had here and recommend it for a great smash burger if you are not on a budget.

I've had my share of Burgers in CPH and can give you a short list of the top spots. Finally got around to trying this spot after seeing them featured on "Somebody Feed Phil." They have 3 locations in CPH and this one is closest to Norreport station (about a 10 minute walk). Although I haven't seen the other locations I'm guessing this is the smallest one. No indoor/outdoor seating and counters only for stand and eat. I got here on a Friday around 1. Had a few orders ahead of me but hard to tell as they also encourage online ordering. I placed my order and shortly after they stopped taking orders as they had a bunch of orders coming in and the guys grilling said they need an order pause. They were very apologetic to customers as they told them they aren't taking orders for another 10 minutes or so. Took about 15 minutes for my order. They do grill the burgers to order. I ordered the Butter Burger with cheese, fries and drink (combo). The Burger was cooked medium as stated and was delicious. Not a huge burger but very rich given the butter as well I'm thinking they have a higher fat content given the great taste. Organic beef is also a nice touch. Fries are crinkle cut and nothing special here as they came from a bag. Also saw they had a Nashville/Korean Hot Chicken sandwich-next time. Overall, this location has some order/peak management to work out. That said, the Gentlemen taking orders and grilling the Burger goodness were friendly and engaged. The hype is real and this spot has earned its place on my list of Top Burger spots in CPH!

Definitely worth the hype!

Have heard about the Gasoline Grill in Copenhagen for a while now. Was excited to be able to drop in while in Denmark this July. We visited the second location, not the actual gas station location. The staff was friendly, informative and waited on us immediately. The wait for our food was ten minutes. It was hor and plenty of burger. Fries were very good, crispy with flaked salt and very hot. We bought the special sauce. Very full. Price was $30.80 US for two burgers, one fry and sauce. Dings: no inside or outside seating.

I had original burger, burger only. To my surprise, the quality was beyond a fast food chain. The burger meat was fresh, juicy and simple seasoned with some sea salt, the pickles were so tasty and the sauce was the perfect addition. The portion was great to the price.

I live in America and have had a TON of burgers that I've eaten. Definitely probably too many burgers. This burger was AMAZING - you can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. I love that the fries have vinegar salt.

I went here on a recommendation from family in Denmark that told me this was the spot for burgers - featured on a show called' Somebody Feed Phil', this place received some notoriety and rightfully so. Although I wasn't at their original location, this spot was cozy, small menu, and everything cooked to order. To our surprise there was no room to sit, but frankly its so busy and so darn good that you don't need to sit. Do yourself a favor and get the fries with this, they are crinkle cut, and taste like heaven. If you're a true dare devil like myself add truffle salt ^ ^ The burger was cooked perfectly, and all the ingredients did their part to bring the burger together. Fresh onions and lettuce, mixed with some pickled cucumber and a delicious chili mayo -- WOW. Add cheese if you want to have a food coma, but other than that this is one exceptional burger. I can't say that this is the best burger I've ever had, but it definitely ranks in the top 10 and that's saying alot because I've traveled far and wide in search of the best burger, and this is one I won't soon forget.

Having seen this company featured on the Copenhagen episode of Somebody Feed Phil, my boyfriend and I wanted to try it during our visit. Fortunately, this location, though not the original which would have been fun (literally located in a gas station), was convenient for us after a trip to Rundetaarn (The Round Tower). I ordered their signature "Butter Burger" which had a nice char and the meat was clearly high quality, but was a little loosely packed so was nearly falling apart - not quite my preference. It also was a touch on the dry side which surprised me since a pat of butter had melted into the patty. Their fries were great - very crisp and a good balance of salt and fat. And it was a surprise to find Jarritos (a Mexican soda common in my home in Los Angeles) for sale at a burger shop in Denmark!

Ranked as the 6th best burger in the world by Food and Wine magazine in 2024 ("Organic beef…read morecheeseburger with onions, pickles, and a house Gasoline Sauce. $16 "), the Gasoline Grill hamburger restaurant has multiple locations throughout Denmark. It's one of those things where I was glad I stopped by, but didn't really experience anything with the food or ambiance that would make me recommend this as a out-of-the way stop that the ranking would seem to suggest. This one is the original, using the station building as a walk-up window with the kitchen inside. They have a few picnic tables on the side for outdoor dining, and I do think that it's important to eat the burger as soon as possible. The interesting thing is that it is still a working gas station, with an island with multiple pumps dispensing petrol (which I didn't see being used during my wait) and some electric charging stations (which was actively being used). I was able to place my order (nothing customized, just wanted exactly as they described after about a 10 minute wait, got my lemonade right away, and waited another 10 minutes to get my food (everything is made-to-order). The cheeseburger was 110 DKK, fries was 40, lemonade was 35, and dipping sauce was 10 with 10 off for being a combo. So total was 185 DKK (about $28.88 in USD). The process and food reminded me very much of a Shake Shack, with the young workers working together to produce well-made smashburgers using great ingredients. The color scheme reminds me of a Wingstop, though. I squeezed between a couple of single diners and dug in. The burger was good, with that loose smash burger quality. It came with a mayo based thousand island like sauce (their gasoline sauce), and had tomato, pickles, red onion slices, and a gooey, plentiful cheese. The lemonade was good, and the hint of elderflower made it memorable. The crinkle fries were good, well done fried which I appreciate. Ate the meal fast before my hands started to freeze up, tossed the remains in the gas station islands garbage bin and was on my way. I really do think a food like this is all about where you eat it...if on an airplane, or at a ballpark, or at the beach...yeah, I could see the appeal. But at a gas station in freezing weather on a picnic table...not so much.

This place completely hit the spot. The burger was everything you want; juicy, flavorful, and…read moreperfectly cooked, with just the right balance of toppings that didn't overwhelm the meat. The bun held up beautifully without getting soggy, and the fries on the side were crispy and golden. You can tell they really care about quality ingredients here. The ambiance was great too; casual and relaxed but still with a cool vibe that makes it feel like more than just a quick stop. It's the kind of spot where you can hang out with friends, enjoy good food, and not feel rushed. Service was excellent. The staff was friendly, quick with recommendations, and checked in at just the right times without hovering. Everything came out promptly, and you could see they genuinely wanted customers to have a good experience.
