This was so much fun!!!! We were a family of 6, with 3 adults and 3 kids (11, 8 and 5) who all had a great time. The 5 year old was scared during some of the lights out portions of the game, but afterwards said The Tomb was her favorite part of our trip. The 11 year old was super engaged and all 6 of us got to play a part in solving the puzzles to get through the levels of this Indiana Jones inspired riddle course. Website says you get to go in every 15 minutes. But when we walked up to get tickets we were told you have to schedule a time to enter. We were told we couldn't go in until an hour and a half later. This is disappointing as none of their information says this. Yes, I understand that schedules get busy and they sell out. So, be sure to call ahead and see what the wait times are. Especially during the busy season and Gatlinburg. But overall I would say it is a great experience for young kids. My children are eight and 11 and I have been begging to play a breakout/strategy type game. This is exactly that-a breakout/strategy game for kids. If you have young ones the first stage is a little frightening. Flashing lights and it goes completely dark at times with loud talking from the "pharaoh." Kids have to work together to solve puzzles in three separate rooms in order to complete the task and open the exit doors. My kids haven't stopped talking about it! read more

A unique experience that I am glad I got to have. There are only 3 rooms to work through and the guide will give you hints when you get lost. I think there are variations if you fail (like easier puzzles maybe?) but otherwise it's the same. Also the guide gives hints if you're crazy lost. I have a confession to make: I hate escape rooms. HATE THEM. I'd driven past this building for years, intrigued by the pyramid on the roof, but unwilling to put myself through the traumatizing escape room experience for the sake of a quick thrill. I'm so glad I got past that and took a chance! My friends and I decided to make Tomb part of my bachelorette party weekend in the Smokies. We went on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and even though I'd been told on the phone that we would have no more than a 15 minute wait, we were told we would have 45 minutes before our tour departed. Once we got past that initial frustration, we enjoyed the tour! There were 6 in our group, so we were large enough to go through without being paired with another party. Our tour guide was pleasant, but I had trouble hearing him at times. We enjoyed the intricate details of each challenge, the elaborately decorated rooms, and the absence of ticking clocks and stressful ambiences that most escape room attractions have. For the price we paid ($15 per person), this was a great value! I don't have to go again, but I would definitely recommend a visit to Tomb! read more

This was my first experience in an Escape Room. My new wife and I were paired with another couple and their son, who appeared to have some sort of autism maybe?? He was insanely smart, and great at the came...We let him do most of the work on the puzzles as he was obviously very excited about being there and participating. What I did not care for, was the "guide" that followed with us to push us in the right direction at times, seemed a little too eager to get us through at times. Now, I get it... you have another group coming up behind us. But maybe you should plan a little better, as we were not that delayed at any point, in my opinion, as we were all pretty on top of things. While driving around Pigeon Forge on vacation my boyfriend and I spotted an awesome pyramid shaped building and stopped to see what it was. Turns out it's an Egyptian themed amusement. It is priced very cheaply for Pigeon Forge at $12 per adult so we decided to return the next day and go though it. We had a group of 4 adults and one small child. They put us with 2 other groups so we totaled around 12-14. I feel it would have been better with a smaller group so they only rate 4 stars. The object of the attraction is to solve puzzles and make it out of the tomb "alive". It offers hands on activities and group involvement. Unfortunately our group wasn't too big on the work together thing. If you don't like interacting with others or can't work in a group this isn't for you. Our guide was great and really tried to get everyone to participate. He payed extra attention to those of us that did. It was lots of fun and very different. It takes around 45 minuets to go though and groups start at 15 minute intervals. It's a bit cheesy but super fun and worth every cent. read more

I genuinely enjoyed The Tomb! In fact, I left surprised at how much fun I had, to be honest! Walking in a few years ago, I expected "cheesy road-side attraction" - but hey, I had some time to kill. The attention to detail, quality of scenic and effects was fantastic. Theme park quality production. Though I didn't realize it at the time, The Tomb was my first taste of an escape room type attraction - something I've grown to love and have since visited 50 around the country and counting.For someone walking in not knowing a thing about the escape genre - the experience here was perfect. Not an escape room by any stretch of the imagination. This was a complete let down. The guide stayed with us and was yelling annoying comments over the mummy soundtrack and "acting"...it was awful on an epic level. He leads you from room to room and can't stop himself from telling you how to solve the puzzles. It was beyond awful. And at the end he tried to tell us they weren't an escape room, which is interesting because that's how they categorized themselves. Spend your money elsewhere. I just wanted out. Three adults in my group and we all had fun. This is a slightly different version of Escape Room or Breakout. You have to solve clues to escape each room and enter the next room. There is a guide with you throughout your journey helping you along when you get stuck. There are several special effects and problem solving games that the group must work together to solve. We had so much fun in this game. As parents, we tried to get the kids to really focus and use problem solving skills to help each other figure it all out. We intentionally sought to stand back, but we found ourselves enjoyably helping out. This one is definitely good for younger kids, ours are 11 and 13, if you get the "thriller" of it out the way, you'll actually find yourself quite successful. I was really impressed with this. It was a great value for the price. No, it is not full of brain-busting puzzle solving, so much as very elaborately themed puzzles that the whole family can work together to solve. I love that the kids could feel like they were helping, but it was still just challenging enough for the adults to enjoy. The special effects and environment were exciting and immersive. The darkness and the booming voice definitely scared the 3 and 4 year olds we had with us, but the 6 and 7 year olds loved it. Our guide wasn't super charismatic but he was helpful at least. He would give us hints only when we started to veer off course, which probably ended up saving us some time and frustration with over-analyzing things that didn't matter. I've been in other escape rooms where my group has easily wasted 20 minutes focusing on the wrong thing. I thought this was better than your standard escape room because it was so much more immersive, and filled with some spooky surprises. :) Great for families. read more

My wife and our eight year old daughter went to this place. We were put with two other groups, one of which ruined the experience for me. The idea behind the place is to solve puzzles as a group to achieve certain goals and escape the tomb that you get trapped in by the Spirit of the pharoah. Again we would have enjoyed ourselves more if one family in our group had not dominated the puzzle solving. If our lives depended on these people we all would have died at the pharaohs hand. My recommendation is to have smaller groups and be more selective of who people a grouped with. read more

If you are looking for a true escape room that is scary/challenging, this is not the place for you. My son had been clamoring to do an "escape room" for a couple of months, but we had a hard time finding one that he could truly participate in. This is exactly what we were looking for as this is clearly meant as a family friendly alternative. Yes, the guide stays with you the whole time and does occasionally give hints to keep the game moving and get you to the next room, but it was still enjoyable. If you have really young kids, some parts could be scary as the rooms are dark (sometimes the lights even go out...intentionally) and the "Pharoah" is trying to keep you in. We (family of 3) got paired with another family of 3 and the child in that group (about 6 or 7 yrs old) got scared and asked to be removed. Our adventure was about 45 minutes long. I was a little hesitant after reading reviews, but my family lucked out. It was just the 3 of us; my 13 year old brother, myself (23) and my dad. Since we were a small group, we were able to do all the activities. The guide was alright, he talked a little too much at times (gave away answers) and I could tell some of the puzzles experience some technical difficulties (the puzzle would be complete and the guide would say wiggle it a bit or push a little more) I worked at a puzzle adventure exhibit sort of along the lines of this, so the acting could have been a little more polished, but that's just nit picky ;) the theatrics were fun and the puzzles were just entertaining enough. I don't think we would have had as fun of an experience if there was another group. It's marketed as fun for all ages, but it gets pitch black at times and is dim the entire time.
