For lunch, I ordered the following: - Brisk Raspberry Iced Tea - Bowl of Minestrone Soup (prepared with cannellini beans, fusilli, kale, peas & tomatoes) - Pasta Trio (Meat Lasagna, Creamy Pesto Rigatoni & Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo) The minestrone soup was hearty and warm. Whereas the flavors were fairly mild, it was still comforting and certainly good. The pasta trio was palatable overall, with each pasta having its own distinct flavor. My top favorite was the Meat Lasagna; super flavorful and cheesy. The Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo needed a little more sauce. I requested extra Alfredo sauce, which helped to make it more enjoyable. The server was friendly and professional. The atmosphere of the restaurant was vibrant and charming. Overall, Tomatina provided a dining experience that met standards by serving Italian food. Fun fact: the steak piadini was the meal my mom had the night before I was born, so Tomatina has been part of my life from the very beginning. Twenty-four years later, it's still my go-to order. While I'll always have a soft spot for the Walnut Creek location, this location captures everything I've always loved about Tomatina. Overall we had a nice time, but there were a couple of things that didn't go as well. For instance, we ordered the special they served this weekend, Petrale Sole, which is breaded and generally shouldn't have any bones. Unfortunately it did have several. I'm told this fish is usually completely filleted and boneless. It was delicious, but I wasn't expecting to choke on the bones from a beaded fish... The only other issue was that the waitstaff were a bit disorganized and also not back to our table within a reasonable manner. We are regulars at Tomatina's in Roseville. It's been a rough recovery since the pandemic and this restaurant continued to push forward. Recently they've added several new staff members that are not just on top of it, they really care about their guests. The menu has changed over the years and they always try new things while still serving their staple items. It's definitely the season for dining and togetherness. The inflation that we're experiencing in 2026 has caused my household to act selectively when we go out. With that in mind, the quality of the food at Tomatina does not meet my threshold for quality, and I do not recommend patronizing this restaurant. First, note that the service was fine and the restaurant is clean and inviting. Our orders・I shared Calamari and Caesar salad, with my partner. For my entree, I ordered Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. The Caesar salad consisted of the yellow ends of the romaine lettuce. It was not appetizing, and it tasted the way it looked. Our appetizer, the calamari, was rubbery, and the marinara sauce was sweet, not savory. I felt like I've had this exact calamari and sauce combination at other restaurants. Finally, my entree, the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, was flavorless, and lacked distinct texture. The pasta lacked body, the chicken was soft, and the Alfredo sauce was not inspired by a chef's imagination. When our server brought out a shaker, one that combines red pepper flakes with basil, I realized that the chef hadn't seasoned my food. In fact, not only is it likely that the sauce came from a jar, but it tasted identical to dishes I've had from other restaurants. My partner had an identical experience: her pasta lacked body, and freshness, and her salmon was overcooked. In sum: Tomatina's food lacks passion, originality, & a distinct flavor profile. I love this place! I happened to come across it randomly one day. I've had their pizza, several types of pasta (some you'll need to add salt to), garlic rolls, and some cocktails. I love that they have a pasta flight (called the Pasta Trio)! They never disappoint. Everything tastes light and fresh. Good food. Good drinks. Good portion sizes. They have a rewards program, too, which is great for your birthday. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and quiet. I love the layout. It's very open and bright, despite the dark counters and chairs. You can watch them make pizza in their huge brick oven. I usually go during the day, around 2-4pm and it's never busy. You can do an all meat version with prosciutto, Hobbs Salami, and Hobbs Pepperoni. Their Fettucini Alfredo is also good, cheesy, and has nothing in it shouldn't have (like onions, garlic). The bad were the brick hard garlic rolls, the over seasoned minestrone and the service. While our server was friendly she would linger on the line chatting up her co-workers while the dishes collected on our table and my wife's water glass remained unfilled. Friends have told me that this is the place to be when eating Italian food. I've eaten at different Italian restaurants and have even been to Italy 3 times. The food here is mediocre. The Margherita pizza was pretty good, but not the best I ever had. It was missing the balsamic glaze. The brusciutta was just ok. The tomato was cooked--supposed to be fresh & raw; also, there were large slabs of mozzarella on the brusciutta--totally unnecessary. Lastly, I used a $50 Tomatina gift card given to us by good friends. When they ran it, it had a balance of zero? I can only speculate when our friends bought it from Tomatinas, the cashier did not add the amount to the card. This is unsatisfactory. The ambiance was relaxing. It's a clean establishment you can go on dates at and take your family to. It has a darker, more elegant feel to it because of the rich colors in the interior. Service was pretty good. Though the server forgot our waters and bill after we asked for it, she was still attentive and kind. We did come near closing time and we knew she was trying to begin closing duties and serve us simultaneously. We still think she did a great job. The food was tasty. We got the meatballs for the appetizer and they were flavorful, especially the sauce, and the bread was just the right amount of crisp. For entrees, I had the roasted salmon. Again, the creamy sauce was delicious and the steamed spinach was cooked just right. I wasn't a huge fan of the texture of the salmon. It had the skin on it so I think I'm just not used to eating it with the skin on. All in all, yummy! Definitely try it. For dessert, I ordered the Affogato and it was FREAKIN AMAZING! The whip cream was that good cream. Light, airy, and the right amount of sweet. I can eat a whole bowl of it. Ugh, so good. The gelato was perfect and the shot of espresso was everything. Please get this, you won't regret it. Can't forget the dranks. I doubled down with the espresso martini and it was wonderful. Would definitely get that again. I also enjoyed the old fashion. This place has been on our list of 'to try' restaurants for a while and we finally made it in on Friday night. I wish we hadn't waited so long! They are easy to find and have a large parking lot. The restaurant is large and open with all types of seating - booths, tables.. And they have a large bar area also. First off, they have happy hour until 7pm and the happy hour menu is fire!! We were overwhelmed with options, because there were so many appealing items on the menus. We tried the pasta trio - totally recommend this! I like my chicken friend but pan-seared wasn't bad. The chicken was tender. Spaghetti could have been cooked a little bit longer. The sautéed spinach was not good. 3.5/5 - Tiramisu: Very good. This was the first time my son tried tiramisu and now he's a fan! 4.5/5 SERVICE: Service was slow and our server was kind of all over the place. He gave us the wrong drink. There are no dishes on the menu that will leave you with a bad impression. Our server Austin was very friendly and gave us insightful information on the menu and it's many options. He came by many times to check in and we never had a second where we needed something due to his attentiveness. We came on a weekday this time to celebrate our anniversary and their application has a deal for anniversaries! Their dinner deal is too good. You get your choice of two dinner plates and ice cream for $38. They also have a happy hour menu that has many appealing options. I cannot wait to come back and try one of their seasonal pasta options next time. I would give 6 stars to this restaurant if possible. They must have a teleportation portal in the kitchen that is linked to Italy on the other side because the food here is explosively delicious. To begin, it was Mother's Day, otherwise my rating would likely be 5 stars. I feel for those who serve and cook on special days. I'll focus on the food, although the service was good given the day. I ordered a Caesar Salad. As someone who can make a killer authentic Caesar dressing, I felt it was lacking. Maybe restaurants don't put raw yoke in, and I get that. But the flavor was lacking--I had to order a side of anchovies to help it. But it was fresh, and the croutons, I wanted more. For my main dish, I ordered lasagna. This is a must try. I only ate half, so I have more for the next day. Rich sauce, cheesy, and just plain delicious. No complaints here. Will I got back - you bet. Tried to take my daughter out for her birthday dinner. Got here no wait. Waitress got us water. We put in an appetizer. She said she'd be back in a couple minutes to take our orders. We sat there 22 minutes. No one even came. They literally only had three other tables and 2 were paying. Had at least six workers. One waitress kept making eye contact with me across the restaurant but still no one came to take our order. Instead they kept making door dash orders. We left and went somewhere else. I have to agree with them this place was awesome! Walking in we got greeted by the hostess . They have TVs by the bar big and spacious dining area . It had, literally, no cheese flavor, and was a cold lump with a spritz of two different sauces to mimic the colors of the Italian flag. Not worth the price. My spaghetti and meatballs were.....good. Worth $20+? No. The sauce, again, was bistro-like, but little resemblance to an Italian eatery. She had the salmon, which was actually pretty tasty....but served with thick penne pasta and a flavorless sauce. Monday March 2023 Came in for Happy Hour as we knew it they had it. We were glad it was everyday from 3PM until close in March. Normally HH would've been M-F 3-6 and we don't mind this promo at all. Though we got an Open Table reservation, there were plenty of tables available when we checked-in at 05:15, plus we got to pick our spot. Staff has always been friendly and attentive with our experience here and that makes us come back for more. This time we were served by Austin who was also our mixologist. Cocktails were $6 (half-off the regular price) each. We sampled the Espresso Martini, Basil Lime Martini, Aperol Spritz and Blood Orange Manhattan from the menu. I also got a glass of chilled Pinot Grigio as they also were having a weeknight special of $3 draft and house wine. Food selections for happy hour are limited though with four choices but the pizza can have 2 custom toppings (19 options for meat, cheese and vegetables). We got a Pizza w/ arugula and prosciutto ($7), Meatballs w/ Pugliese bread ($7) and and two Calamari Fritti w/ lemon garlic aoli ($9). That was our adults only dinner for Monday. Came back here again with my boyfriend for lunch since we had a lovely first experience. Instead of a pizza, we decided to check out their pastas for a change. I got the trio and he got the mama's meatballs spaghetti. The mama's meatballs appetizer was phenomenal, I really enjoyed the flavor and the pairing with the bread and butter. However, my boyfriend was a bit disappointed at the pasta version and the quantity for the price. Especially since the appetizer was only $7 and the pasta dish was nearly triple that price :( I thought the pasta trio was okay, the noodles were a bit harder than I liked so it wasn't the greatest texture in my mouth. Stopped in last night for dinner as we were craving Italian and it is close to where we were staying and had good reviews. Staff was super friendly, helpful and attentive. Their food recommendations were spot on. We had the Chopped Antipasto salad, mama's meatballs appetizer and the Chicken Marsala followed by the tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious!
