My son and I needed to mediate the rules and conditions in which he could return home under. We had a very rocky start, a few relapses, but Tom managed these very well and it a way that was affirming and supportive to both the patient and family. It is now a year out and my son is back into a progressing mode and doing very well, my son is now respectful in the home, doing his share in the home, and learning to become independent. One thing I learned however is that instead of having a contract that required me to evict him, that its better to have him list his address at a PO Box, and then only be in the home as a "visitor", then if he has to be forced to leave there is no legal reason that he has to stay. Fortunately for us, its turned out for the better, and we now have a good working relationship and that contracts are no longer needed. We also got him a Psychoeducational Exam and found out he is learning disabled, this explained some of the reasons for his condition and its helped us to get our son the help he needs and deserves. read more
