Responsive! Knowledgeable, competent, helpful. And reasonably priced. Knows installation and repair on Grohe, Moen and all other top name fixture manufacturers. Knows water heater installs and repairs. Knows how to clean a drain on a tree lined one acre property so that it stays functional for several years. Forget other alternatives. I had a grohe showery/tub parts and the prior plumber that we hired did not have the slightest clue on how to fix it and wanted us to strip everything out and go with something at Home Depot. JP returned my call shortly after I left a message and we arranged a time for him to come to my house a few days later to replace my kitchen garbage disposal and clear a slow-running drain in the same sink. All of the work was well done, including his taking the initiative on creating a simpler pipe routing for the near rat's nest of pipes under the sink. While pouring water down a couple of bathroom drains, I had also discovered the 20-year-old Corian integrated sinks in both of my bathrooms had separated overflow collectors that were leaking under the counter when I filled the basins with water. JP had the proper adhesives and shims to get those reattached and solved both leaks. I would not hesitate to call Tom's plumbing and have JP come out for any future plumbing needs I might have! read more

I wouldn't use this company. We did and we have regrets for many reasons: 1) They worked T&M and padded the hours and overcharged us. 2) We've had many problems with plumbing they worked on and it resulted in thousands of dollars in repair to fix their faulty work. The most recent problem is a leak in a pipe in a new shower, just completed less than 3 years ago. The cause was a screw in the pipe. Why? Mitch from Tom and Scott's Plumbing forgot to put a nail plate in front of it to protect it. It is this type of negligent work that has caused us to regret using this company. It was also very clear to us that Scott, the owner has lost interest in the business and in neither proactive or conscientious. He constantly blames someone else for his faulty workmanship. I found it very difficult to find a plumbing operation that had experience in working with Grohe shower faucets. I was finally directed to the Plumbing Gallery where they sell Grohe shower faucets and they referred me to Tom and Scott's Plumbing. Scott from Tom's plumbing came out to install a new Thermostatic valve on our Grohe shower faucet. He was extremely knowledgeable in Grohe shower faucets and had it working in short order. On his way out we asked him if he knew any tricks to clean a garbage disposal in the sink. He showed us this really cool trick to clean it, we were very impressed. I won't go into detail as this is part of the allure. I highly recommend this company for their in depth knowledge, customer service, and promptness. read more

Cody, I believe the son of one of the owners, was a consummate professional when he came to look at our house's plumbing issues. He inspected everything from the showers, toilets, disposal, dishwasher, and to the washer outside even though it was initially called in as a pressure problem. It wasn't an up sell by any means like other vendors seem to do more of these days but a consultative approach. Cody solved our plumbing situation in a thorough, timely, and safe manner. Needed a plumber for a variety of plumbing needs around the house. Called a few and was not impressed. Called Tom's and Scott, got an answer on the second ring, an understanding of the scope of my needs and a plumber out at an agreed time. Now the pricing. I was expecting the typical service charges and "add on's" Nope, nada, zilch. So it was straight hourly rate plus any parts. Cody showed up on time, covered the punch list, noticed a potential problem and we spoke and I agreed it needed his attention. At the end, it was as stated. Hourly, no BS no add on's. I was impressed with the quality, efficiency and pricing to get this done. My dilemma was to either buy a new dryer or have a gas line installed. Tom and Scotts plumbing assured me that their option would be a better one and less costly than buying a new Dryer. My mistake was in not getting a formal/written quote, i trusted their input, based on all the good reviews. Melissa in office was very professional setting appointment and following up with me to let me know Scott was on the way. Scott was on time and very professional and knowledgeable. He patiently listened to my explanation of the situation I was having after replacing a Hansgrohe shower control cartridge and housing, and solved the problem quickly. The details: I replaced an old Thermobalance I cartridge and housing with a new one. But then I wasn't getting hot water and I couldn't figure out why. I thought I had tried everything taking it on and off testing this and that and couldn't figure out what the problem was, and decided I needed a pro, maybe it was something more serious? Apparently there was some orientation issue with the hot/cold spring loaded control mechanism on the end of the cartridge handle that was not working the way it was supposed to work because I didn't put it back on correctly! It was not apparent to me that there was more than one way it should go back on, it just spun around 360 degrees so how could it be wrong?!? It looked pretty straight forward to put back on, how could that be the issue?!? I don't know how the valve control got pointed the wrong way, but Scott immediately figured that out, putting it back together correctly and then we had normal hot/cold temp/pressure. I felt foolish that I couldn't figure that simple part out, but the previous Plumber we had out couldn't figure that out either, and he wanted $1500 to put in a new shower valve! When I heard that I suggested we get a second opinion. It was well worth paying the service call to get a lesson in control handle orientation, than paying all that money for a new valve. I thank the Plumbing Gallery in San Jose where I bought the Hansgrohe replacement parts, for providing me with Scott's number. I also appreciated that Scott provided some advice on how to deal with a couple other plumbing related issues. We took his card so we knew where to call in the future for any plumbing related issues. This Friday the team came to our house, got on the roof and within 60 mins said are pipes are open. However within 24 hours our toilet flush restarted flooding the bath tub. I had Kirk come out to fix a few things at my house. One of them he couldn't take care of because the toilet needed to be replaced, but I liked him and asked for a second opinion about my tub spout, which my contractor had poorly managed such that we were not going to be able to use the spout that matched our other fixtures. Two other plumbers had said they would have to tear out the back wall and repipe it from the back, but Kirk went out to his truck and made a pipe that fixed the issue. I might get a tattoo of his face on my left shoulder. Kirk is my goto now, and damn it feels good to have a go-to plumber. read more

I used Tom &Scott's plumbing in 1998 for my kitchen remodel. Fast forward to December 2020 when my water heater went out on a Sunday (of course!) I left a message for Scott that day and got a call back at 8:00am the next morning. Cody arrived promptly at 11:00 on Monday and I had a new water heater by that afternoon. I love how patient and detailed Cody is in his work. So much so that my my mom decided to have her 26 yo water heater replaced by Cody before it leaked or left her without hot water. They provided good service in the past and I trusted them to replace my water heater at a decent price. Shocked they charged $2400 for less than 6 hours of work. Credit card? Pay more. The invoice did not split labor and parts. PGE provides a discount for $100 when a water heater is replaced, but they want to know brand, cost, where bought etc. Called them. No response. Our shower wasn't getting hot water for more than a few minutes, and Kurt came by to check out the problem. He immediately saw that something funky was going on with our water heater, and when he received the necessary parts, came back with Scott to finish things. I will call these guys for my plumbing issues as long as I'm in the area- they were courteous, called about their progress, and even called a week later to see that we were happy with the job. Great people to work with! **Some reviews have mentioned that they didn't hear back in a timely way during evenings or weekends; I'm fairly certain their voice mail message explicitly states that they do not do emergency work. I have been a customer of toms plumbing for at least 20 years and would always have given 5-stars. My recent experience I downgraded slightly because of their refusal to give me an itemized bill for the parts and labor. In the past I never felt the need so never asked however this time the bill seemed excessive. I had hoped for an explanation but received none. To their benefit, they offered me a 10% reduction and I accepted it but still felt that I had paid too much. They could have at least separated the parts from labor. read more

We were extremely happy with Scott repairing and replacing Kohler shower parts. He is extremely knowledgeable. It was very difficult to find a plumber able to repair this stack valve unit in remodeled bathrooms but only 10 yrs old. We are still amazed that they work so well now! Cody just came to change out my washing machine box because the levers were impossible for me to move up and down. He said that he could spend 3 hours moving the box up, mess up my wall, and would put the same box and levers in as that's what's available now. So instead he WD40'd the levers, adjusted my pliers to fit the levers, and now this elderly lady can easily move the levers and have pliers to help if needed. So appreciate his honesty!!! Melissa was also great to work with in setting up this appointment. I HIGHLY recommend this company!!
