5 stars for this u-pick strawberry farm! Plenty of spacious…read moreparking available, which made our visit really convenient. Just a heads up, the fields get very sunny all day long, so sun protection is a must. The strawberries are fresh and flavorful. We learned the perfect picking trick here: choose fully bright red berries. Avoid the overripe purple ones, as the bright red ones taste the sweetest and have the best texture. Fun activity for friends and families, totally worth the trip.

I had high hopes for Remlinger Farms after seeing all the beautiful posts about their fall festival…read moreon Instagram. Unfortunately, the actual experience was completely different. We started by grabbing lunch at the brewery before noon, and it was already packed. The line to order extended into the dining area, making it awkward to stand in line next to people who were eating. It was also not stroller-friendly at all. After lunch, we headed toward the park entrance. If you purchased tickets online, there's a booth outside where you scan the QR code, but it's easy to miss if you've just come from the brewery. I didn't see it, and there was no attendant at the gate checking tickets. It honestly seemed like we could have walked right into the park without paying Next time, I guess haha Once inside, think Disney but disorganized. Lines were confusing, and there was little guidance on where they started. What really pushed this experience toward a 1-star review was the lack of attention to detail, especially considering the ticket prices. Where's the map? Apparently, it's a QR code at the register. Why not have physical maps available for guests? Then there were the numerous signs that are AI-generated. One sign for a log flume ride stated that riders had to be shorter than 36 inches and weigh under 120 pounds. At the very bottom, it warned against riding if you have high blood pressure or are pregnant. Mmkay... who exactly are these restrictions meant for? We also picked up a brochure before entering, thinking it was a park map. Nope! It was a stamp scavenger hunt instead. "Restriced area"? "Proof of find Stamp"? Overall, the Remlinger looked wonderful on Instagram, but the reality didn't live up to the marketing. Better signage, a proper park map, clearer lines, and basic proofreading would go a long way. Unfortunately, the experience left us disappointed, and I wouldn't recommend it at the current price based on our visit. Or I guess next time just walk up to the gate since there's no staff checking if you have a wrist band haha

Arriving at Carnation Farms, not knowing what exactly might be there, I was firstly surprised to see the classic "Carnation Farms" logo with the exact font type and the carnation flower on the cans of evaporated milk that I have seen my entire life. Wait a minute, is this THE "Carnation Farms"? Well, yes, but also a no, but also a yes. LOL. I ended up reading the historical signs and chatting with the cashier for a while (there were no other customers - zero). Carnation was indeed the dairy farm that made the now world-famous evaporated milk, created in 1899. The business grew and thrived so well that the community of Tolt was renamed to Carnation in 1917 although the name changed back and forth two more times before it stayed with Carnation. In downtown Carnation, many businesses are still named Tolt, including the Tolt River. In 1985, Nestle brought the Carnation company. In 2016, the original Stuart family purchased the name "Carnation Farms" back from Nestle. The name rights exclude diary, but they have animals and is now a venue, amongst other business ventures. We missed a local market that was on the previous day. Today, this sleepy business sells many locally made products and hosts community events such as the local market. Limited bundles of produce represented the 'farm' name poorly, if I am being honest. I asked the cashier which products in the store are actually from the current farm. She pointed to the freezer case. I chose a frozen curry goat soup from the case. It was passable, more soup than goat, i.e. not much meat. If you want to visit, check their calendar of events and go for a museum tour or one of their many events. The shop itself is less interesting.

What a little gem!!! We checked their website and saw they are open Friday thru Sunday and decided to give it a go. They are tucked in a bit away from the road but that just means it's nice and quiet around nature. There is a one lane dirt road that winds back to their farm. There is plenty of parking and port a potties if you need a bathroom while there. They were super friendly and had buckets pre filled with bags, but we brought our own produce bags for picking to be more eco friendly. There is a great amount of space in between their blueberry bushes and very limited weeds to contend with. They directed us to where the best and ripest berries were and even had one outdoor tent you could use and move it to help protect yourself from the hot day. They had TONS of ripe berries- even the smaller ones were sweet and tasty... "try as you go" they told us so we did. This farm began with road side farm stands in 2020 and then in 2021 they had the blueberry bushes and U Pick that exists now. There are four families that band together to make this farm work. There were a couple families working under the farm stand tents when we checked out. They accept cash or credit card and blueberries are $3.99 per pound. We picked ~9.25 lbs of berries. We like to freeze our berries to use throughout the year. They said they don't spray their berries and are organically grown. We would definitely return to Fable Farm!

Initially I was worried about going out this far from the city because we are queer and weren't sure just how welcoming places out of the city are, but they were great and we didn't feel unwanted at all. We berry picked at three of the rows they told us that most of the picking was being done, they don't spray things on their berries so they told us we can snack while we pick. We ended up leaving with some of their honey and a jam as well. Would recommend this place to my friends and anyone looking for berry picking!
