My practice has always been to write favorable reviews or nothing at all. But, the appalling behavior of this establishment has led me to write this review. After years of frequenting this establishment, my visit last Sunday, is my last. Their total lack of care in regards to safe practices for their workers and customers was appalling. There was no social distancing and no requirement that anyone wear a mask. Workers were not protected by plexiglass and touched their masks. I left as quickly as I had entered and went to a bakery in Gresham that was requiring masks, had social distance measures in place and plexiglass to protect their workers. What an amazing difference just a few miles away. It was clear they were as interested in their workers and customers safety as they were profits. I will only patronize businesses that have a sense of social responsibility. read more

Sadly my reviews keep going down. I pass this on my way home every day so I stop from time to time. The product is inconsistent, sometimes you'll get something and it's delicious and then next time it's not so great. I just ordered a banana cake with custard filling for my husbands birthday. I ordered it in person and a week ahead of time. It was over $30 for an 8 inch round cake and when I got it home it was plain white cake with custard and sliced bananas.... incredibly disappointed. I won't be ordering a cake here again. I plan to let them know that they messed it up as well. They do have a neat gift section though. read more

My parents moved from Seattle, WA to Bend, OR last year. The Bakery at the Tollgate Inn is a stop we HAVE to make on every trip to and from home for a mid-drive pastry and coffee pick-me-up. My cousin raves about the cannoli (and rarely shares!) My mom and husband bonded over their mutual love for the mini German Chocolate Cakes. I order a different muffin every time. If you stop by in summer, enjoy one with seasonal fruit- like raspberries. The connected gift shop is very cute and kitschy. Whoever does the ordering for them is quite creative, their merchandise and displays are always changing with the season/holiday. The Tollgate Inn Bakery is a pleasure to patronize. read more

A somewhat reserved 4 stars...bakery-wise, if you stick with cookies and pastry-type desserts and steer clear of whipped cream stuff, you'll do ok. I was torn, the bakery goods are outstanding here. What my concern is the bakery has a wall of old fashioned candy and goodies. While looking over the items displayed I noticed they had replica cigarette packs with candy inside displayed at just the right level for children to see. I asked the employee if she was the manager, I was going to quietly bring it to her attention that I thought it was wrong to carry this type of merchandise. I even let other customers go before me so I could be discreet. This employee said the manager was gone so I expressed how I felt about the candy item to her. She immediately got loud, said there was nothing she could do but finally said she would leave a note for the manager. She went on to say she had eaten these when she was a kid and she never smoked. Sandwiches aren't great, however if you've got a sweet tooth it's the way to go! Perfect location for a quick little date, you can get lots of muffins and pastries, as well as chocolates and cookies. Stopped in on the way back to our rental cabin for an iced coffee and some treats. Nice bakery selection and great prices. Most everything was $1.50 each. We did the 4 for $5. deal. Terrible customer service this morning. I got there right at opening AS the young lady was unlocking the doors. I greeted her saying "Hello" and fallowed with a "Good morning". I did not get one word from her. This isn't the first time she has snubbed me before. She never greets you back after greeting her. She also makes absolutely no eye contact. The best breakfasts 'ol school style. The food is great but the restaurant itself is an old timey landmark. The western style buildings give the place a homey atmosphere. It is nice to go to a "dressed down" place and have good food served to you by waitresses who call you hon. I order the single buttermilk pancake (why a single you ask?? the thing fills a dinner plate....I never finish it) All the breakfast items are wonderful. Less enamoured of the lunch offerings. The baked goods here are killer. The huge cinnamon rolls, muffins, and sticky buns are totally sharing size. They often run specials where you get a free small pastry or muffin with espresso drinks. I haven't had any baked goods that weren't awesome. My ONLY wish is that they had some kind of low-fat or reduced sugar treats so I don't feel so guilty after enjoying one. I can never get enough of this place! They make the best pastries! I always get a cinnamon roll with the cream cheese frosting. It's so wonderful. They make chocolate eclairs that are so light and fluffy, enormous cookies, and the darlingest little cakes! If you want a sandwich, you can fill out this little card to say what you want on it and they'll make it for you. They also do coffee. They even put bacon on their doughnuts sometimes. If you're passing through, you definitely should check this place out. You would not regret it! I never give one star reviews. In fact, Tollgate Inn deserves a zero star review. Firstly, the service was absolutely abysmal. Waited 20 minutes for our check. The restaurant was half busy too!! Shouldn't take that long to pay. On top of that, we paid 60$ for food that tasted like it came from a microwave. Just head to Safeway if you want to try Tollgate. Great Bakery and sandwich place. Gets a lot of coffee business and even have a small video lottery game room. They recently downsized their gift section. Cookies, muffins and other bakery items are all good too. Cakes and pies are my favorite. Huge layered cakes with lots of chocolate choices, good pies and prepackaged single servings available. Service can be a little slow as they are quite busy most times especially when others are getting coffee. Always friendly staff and place is nice and clean and not crowded inside. Stopping for lunch at the Toll Gate Inn Restaurant and Bakery has become our families tradition on our Sunriver Vacations each Summer. The portions are enormous at the restaurant...so be ready but also come prepared to buy a box of the amazing baked goods at the bakery just a few steps up the side walk. This bakery makes a variety of good quality pastries, pies, cakes and desserts. I just bought their "Chocolate Caramel Hazelnut Mousse Cake", and it was the BEST, most delicious cake I've ever had.
