Went here today after church for hubby. He loves menudo. Although busy, it was 11:00, we were seated right away. Chips & salsa came quickly. I ordered a side salad and ice tea. Hubby asked for hotter salsa and they brought out a red molcajete salsa that he said was was delicious! He also said the menudo was excellent! We left at 12:00 just after the mariachi's started. I was going to go to Table mountain all you can eat seafood but I was too occupied doing my laundry at home and didn't want to drive too far. So I figured I gave Toledo's a shot in Clovis CA and tonight's dinner was a big disappointment. Although the staffs seemed friendly and attentive their food was not on par to my taste buds. I had the following for tonight's meh dinner: Botana appetizer plate 2/5 the chips tasted off it's like eating card board and I didn't enjoy the ground beef with it too. 1 chicken tacos with 2 carne asada tacos with rice and beans. 3/5 it's nothing special has no wow factor. Chips and salsa 1/5 the chips tasted some what off and it has a weird taste to it and the salsa could of been better. Ice tea 4/5 nice and refreshing not watered down. Tamarindo, Jamaica drinks 3/5 it was watered down. Service 4/5 service was nice, friendly and attentive. Toledo's dinner could have been better especially paying $15.00 or something for 3 tacos and small rice and beans. Also their botana appetizer plate was a total miss in my opinion it didn't have that Unami Mexican flavor that I was looking for. A long time ago I remembered eating at El Torito in OC and it was delicious everything was on point. The food and service was amazing. I had a combination plate with a sope and enchilada and they were great. The chips and salsa were addicting. I loves the beans and the rice they had great flavor. The relleno burrito was so good and the rellenos here are home made. We also had traditional flautas and they were perfect. I was so let down with this visit. This place has gone way down hill. I used to look forward to this place but now I avoid it. Looking forward a New Mexican restaurant to eat at. I have eaten at Toledo's several times pre Covid. Loved their food and service so when deciding to order takeout tonight they were our first choice. Went on line to their website and placed our order for two. The item was 12.99. Got there and was told my order was $43. Thinking a mistake had been made I asked for clarification and no my two $12.99 entrees were now $19.99 each. I told the gentleman I ordered off their menu on line and he replied yes we have been meaning to update our website. Meaning doesn't get it and this is really poor customer service. I would have never ordered my items for $20 a piece nor will I ever order any other item from Toledo's again. It's not the money as much as a feeling of being taken advantage of. They need to fix there service. They just told us that we could not be accommodated for lunch that they didn't have a table for six. Two of party needed handicap seating. We had been seated when a sixth person showed up. They said they didn't have a way to change the table. The people seated around us couldn't believe that the waitress had ask us to leave. As we were leaving the manager came out and acted like he didn't know of this situation. He never offered anything, just stood there. This place is my go to on the weekends especially with you have a hangover they have amazing posole and they are not cheap on the meat they give you a ton of meat and don't load it up with a little bit of meat and lots of hominy like a lot of places do I also love the albundigas soup! If you order a side of chips and salsa the bags are very large one time I got a medium and it was so many chips I recommend to always taken in consideration if you're buying a side of chips and salsa you were going to get a ton they also put a lot of seasoning on them so depending on your taste levels that might be a little too salty but they are homemade chips which is amazing because I get tired of those store-bought chips in these restaurants if we want store-bought chips will go to the grocery store read more

The mediocre reviews is perfectly inaccurate for this Fresno Mexican chain restaurant, in all honesty this location of Toledo's has a nice, clean and neat interior, tasty Mexican food with quality, affordable price and perfectly attentive and friendly customer service. Overall this place is above average for a Mexican restaurant in Fresno. Having said that, I am not saying this is the best tasting Mexican food ever and going to taste better than your Mexican friend mum's cooking, but the food here is really good and would satisfy your Mexican food cravings. They offer breakfast everyday from 8 am, while Kitchen open's late on Saturday and Sundays (until 1.30 am), which makes it a perfect place to grab a bite if your hungry at night. They also have happy hour from 4pm to 7Pm with really good beers and cocktail drinks. I of course prefer their Virgin Margarita $3.75, because it has a fresh lime taste and its very refreshing. As you sit down, generous portion of fresh made tortilla chips and a serving of fresh salsa is presented, and its a really delicious starter to your meal. The salsa has a nice fresh taste, with a slight taste of heat from chilis, while their chips is tasty and crunchy. I ordered their Chicken Fajitas $11.99, and it was utterly delicious and I would highly recommend it. The portions I must add was very generous for the price. The chicken was perfectly cooked, very moist, while the bell peppers and onions on the griddle was grilled to perfection and cooked well (no raw bits), it gave the dish an overall nice flavor, and it was not burnt. The rice was very flavorful, and was seasoned with utmost care, while the guacamole was fresh and perfectly creamy. Lastly the refried beans had the home made taste, and was very nice and smooth. The corn tortillas was also made in-house, which is impressive. Everything tasted fresh and made by the restaurant. The Flanecito's, which is a mini flan, was good, but not my favorite, because it had a strong cinnamon flavor, I wish it had a lighter less spicy taste. But the texture was nice, while sweet it wasn't overpowering. I would however prefer a lighter and creamier flan. The service was excellent, attentive and friendly, my server axel checked on me through out the time and made sure everything was perfect. He was very professional and courteous too. He was also very suggestive, and made recommendation on what to order. The interior was lovely and well decorated for a Mexican Restaurants, not many places takes much time to be so detailed, it had an elegant Mexican rodeo feel to it, with lots of booth seats. My only negative would be the old people smell I can sense in the restaurant, the smell you get when you go to a thrift store with all the old things. I do hope that could be improved. UPDATE 11/13/13 I have increased my review from 2 stars up to 3 stars. Ordered the Caldo de pollo. It was presented piping hot and full to the brim. There was more than enough Chicken in the soup and the flavor was what I was hoping for...out of this world. The server (Alejandro) was very attentive and we did not even have to ask for any water glass refills. The staff asked us if we wanted a refill on the chips and salsa and the meal was presented in a short about of time. Seems that they are trying to improve. The soup was still on the table when the main course was brought. Although it was packed during dinner, every customer that I saw inside was "White"... First clue. Ordered the Toledo Burrito which has slices of beef meat on top with Ranchero sauce and some onion and green Bell Pepper. (see picture) While the flavors were good in the Ranchero sauce, the beef meat was over cooked and therefore tough and needed more seasoning as it was very bland in flavor. It came with Albondigas soup which was very flavorful but one negative was the fact that a Bay Leaf was left in the soup which can be a choking hazard. The straws that that were presented for the drinks were not in their wrappers and thus we do not know where they have been in contact with. The server (female "Alex") only came back to check on how we were doing only when I made eye contact with her and we more 3/4 of the way done with the meal. If you visit and you like shrimp, you'll have to try the shrimp wrapped in bacon. Very delicious!!! They are also stuffed with cheese and a slice of jalapeño and fried. You will not be disappointed. It comes with a sweet and sour sauce that's pretty good but I enjoy them better with the salsa molcajeteada. The plate comes with a side of rice and beans, tortillas, and albondigas soup. It's pretty average mexican food. First time eating here and I got the 2 combo plate, paid extra for Carne asade for the burrito and taco. Both were decent, Carne was pretty dry but tasted good, lot of cabbage on both items which isn't bad but there was no salsa on either so they were somewhat bland on their own. Both items were quite big though. Beans and rice were good, beans a tad salty but some of the better sides I've had from a Mexican place. Felt like price was fair for the portion, think it was about $13 and I had leftovers for the next day. I'd like to try this place again to see if it can be any better than this, perhaps eating in rather than takeout would be a fairer assessment. Decent for takeout though at least read more

We set out to eat Italian, but after we couldn't get a table we wound up here. I wasn't totally disappointed (I love Mexican food) and it was Happy hour. I was not too happy that they had no IPA on draft. Their bar menu advertised 805 and blue moon (both of which they were out of) and no IPA. They should up their beer game. Food was good. I came here for the chips & salsa plus my co-workers were meeting here. Now, it's enough said that my job is stressful, so hanging out with the co-workers after a hard days work is just mental but it's great to un-wind with your fellow slaves. Toledo's is great for that. It's crowded and really, that's just fun! We sat at a really big table and laughed, had tons of chips & salsa (which our waitress kept bringing, as well as filling our glasses!). I ordered the enchilada with cheese because I know what I like. Everyone else ordered differently so I got to spy a bit of this and that. Nothing looked bad, mine was pretty good. I have to say, the beans are right on, the rice was a bit dry--but no worries, it was still good. My meal came with soup/salad. I had the meat-ball soup, which was good. Nothing to write home about but good. Everyone else enjoyed their meal but some people didn't like this or that and seemed a bit picky to me. You know you find there are just some people you can't please in this world. *sounds like my job motto* Oh well, I guess they were just reliving work. Oh dear... My update is based upon several take-out dining experiences over the last few months, with each experience tending more negative. What has changed? Two main things: (1) Food taste and (2) Accuracy of orders. First... while Toledos has always erred on the side of too salty, it seems like this place has decided it wasn't salty enough. In the last four take-out orders, the beans, soup, enchiladas, and other items were all salty to the point that even adding extra salsa did not cut it. Strangely, the one food item that I prefer extra salty (any kind of meat), seems to be lacking in seasoning. We ordered take-out last night, and I ordered the Carne Asada a la Tampiquena. Maybe it was just because everything else including rice was overly salty, but I couldn't taste any type of seasoning on the steak at all. Second: Accuracy of orders. I am a big fan of getting what I order and pay for. It really makes me upset when a food order--especially one to-go-- is inaccurate. We've been having trouble with items either missing or wrong in our order. Because of this, when I pick up the order, I always check for accuracy (which doesn't always go over well) before I leave the establishment. However, my husband picked up for us last night. One of the items we ordered last night was the Botana Fiesta, which is a sampler of bean and cheese nachos, mini flautas and quesadillas. The flautas and quesadillas are perfect for our toddler. When my husband arrived home with the order, we discovered that Toledo's had given us an entire box filled with bean nachos. No quesadillas and no flautas for my little one. I've really enjoyed Toledo's in the past and am frustrated with the lack of quality in food and service over the last few months. With so many Mexican food places to pick from and based upon several unhappy experiences in a row, I'm seriously considering shopping around to find a new favorite place that has better accuracy and more healthy and properly seasoned food options. I love this place, my family has been coming here for years, but since the opening post-Covid some noticeable changes are frustrating. Most dinners, including combination plates used to come with either their amazing albondigas soup or a salad. That is no longer the case. If you want either one of these it costs 3 dollars extra. Also prices have come up, which is understandable to some degree. However, charging 10.99 for a kids bean burrito is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. Please reconsider some of the absurd charges. It's reasonable for you to raise prices on your dinner and combination plates, but not at the expense of also charging for your soup and salad. Not only did he have a Great Sense of Humor but he explained the Mexican Cuisine to us and spoke Spanish which was beautiful. Ruben made our night with his exquisite catering to our every need. Best Customer Service I've seen in awhile. Sat in the bar area and saw the hardest working crew ever. I even witnessed the Manager, I think his name is Silver, mopping behind the bar when the staff was on the floor. This place doesn't skip a beat. I'm glad this is open. We are frequent buyers of salsa and chips, very disappointing that it took 40+minutes to get our food, nonetheless it came cold and took a while to get it back again. We were a group of 5 with kids and were ok with the initial 20 minute wait time to be seated as it seemed to move quickly. Waiters were quick and responsive but we had to ask for things one would assume would be on the table. Although we received a basket of chips, 30 minutes went by before our drinks of water arrived as well as the requested napkins. It took 1.5 hours to receive our meals! While other groups who came in much later that us, were served and left before we received our plates. Then we still had to request silverware to eat and wait for that too! We waited patiently but feel the time to make easy items like tacos and burritos was ridiculous for the food quality received. We walked in and asked to sit at one of the open tables at the bar and were told there was a wait, then a party walked in behind us and took the same table without being told there was a wait. The rude hostess reluctantly allowed us to then sit at the bar. The chips were half full, cold and broken, as if they served it to us after grabbing it off another table.
