Four of us went here for birthday dinner. Tuesday night May7, our chef complained he was tired and didn't not want to be at work multiple times throughout the entire dinner service. He did not cook the sea food through. The shrimp tasted very fishy like it was old. None of us ate it and spit it in our napkins. The spicy sauce was white and tasted horrible. The dinner options prices were above $30.00 and above except chicken only $25.00. I know prices are raised but if there's no quality why pay it. The server took all our glasses for refills on one try mixing them up and brought it back, who knows what person's drink I got back instead of refilling them at the table. This place quality is in the dirt. My calamari was bland and so tough I could not hardly eat it. The scallops was under cooked, the chef did not trim and remove the "fat" from the New York steak... what the hell is this place doing. Needless to say most of us had stomach pains when we got home and straight to the restroom!!! You what I mean. For close to $200.00 bill at the end of our meal. Birthday was ruined. Regret coming here so don't waste your money. Super disappointed. Will never be back here!! read more

The food was great and flavorful. The only down side of the place was the ambiance. Everything looked outdated and the chefs weren't the best. They cooked good but the tricks and stuff weren't there. Me personally, I don't really care for all the tricks but it was noticeably bad. read more

I want to start off with the ONE AND ONLY positive thing about our experience. Our server at our teppanyaki table was AMAZING. That's as far as our GOOD food experience went. Our salad was served to us ; and it was warm. My husband mentioned it to me, and I agreed but said it was probably fine bc I'm not a complainer. And then, Our chef was not that friendly, dropped an egg on one of his tricks and splashed it all over the place, and that was about as fun as it got. He then proceeded to OVER SALT or OVER MSG all our food, where it was completely inedible. I got the New York / scallops, and my husband got the chicken.. we left it all on our plates and didn't take it to go. We still paid 140$ for our meal because we drank our drinks and my daughter ate her not good popcorn chicken( and I'm one of those people who are non confrontational) but we'll NEVER be back. It's given both me and my husband super upset stomachs ( I don't think I need to go into detail) . And we are long time Clovis residents that love to support local restaurants. NEVER again. They don't care about customers they don't care what time it is the day they always have an excuse about "we are booked up for the night ! They don't serve the food they make at the tables for Togo they always got a lame excuse about something ! Let you tell them that you want to speak to a higher up they will pretend to get someone on the phone and it will be the same a person . This is the worse restaurant ever . Unfortunately, this place has definitely gone way down hill...made the mistake of coming here for teppanyaki. No AC in the place which made it uncomfortably hot, waitress seemed bothered by her job, atmosphere is non existent and just to top it off an annoying fly. The only plus was our cook was very nice and food was alright. Bottom line would never recommend here for dining in, take your money elsewhere. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, settle for the regular seating, GO for the tepenyaki! The service is terrible on this side, as well as New York steak. I expected to have my typical New York from the tepenyaki seating, but I had a rude awakening and was instead fed a rubber tire. I tried to bare through it but I just couldn't. We obeyed the signs and waited in the lobby to be seated for over 20 min7tes.i would like to say they didn't notice us but the dirty and disgusted looks we were getting from the staff said otherwise. Owner is ridiculous! I requested a substitute of veggies instead of rice for health reasons and they did not offer an option. I asked if they could not charge me for the fried rice, since I will not be eating it and they denied. Manager said they used to do substitutions but they no longer due to business problems. I asked for a knife to cut up the tempura calamari and it the waitress forever to bring me one. I basically finished the calamari when she finally brought the knife. The food wasn't good either it had no flavor, my sushi roll wasn't good either. read more

The food was ok, a little salty though, I ordered the fired rice and was already a little hesitant because it is made with bacon m, the combination of bacon and soy sauce was overwhelming. I got the teriyaki chicken that was tasty, the spicy mayo was amazing on the pop corn chicken. All in all it's an ok place just try the rice with out bacon. read more

This place is DISGUSTING!!!! Their "crab" sushi rolls taste like rotten liver! It's all imitation and they fry it to cover up that it's not real crab. WTF did I just put in my mouth? I spit it out and rinsed the gross taste from my mouth. I've been eating sushi for years from the Bay Area and I also eat and prepare crab meat at home so I can tell you that that was not crab meat. Came in for dinner. Approximately 5:30PM. Business is slow, but I'm sure it'll pick up very soon since it's a Friday. Sat at the bar. Was greeted and given the sushi and regular dine in menu (still don't know or can't understand why they don't allow you to order the fried rice from the teppan yaki side). Ordered the manager special roll ($20) and the chicken teriyaki boat ($19), but the dine in order took some time. I think they forgot about me. Tokyo Steakhouse has been one of our go-to restaurants since moving to Clovis in 2003. Our last visit in July 2019 we brought our foreign exchange student because it had always been such a fun "performance" meal with the jokes, commentary, and overtly friendly cooks. On this day the cook was mundane and barely spoke. There was no performance value included. We wrote it off as likely a new guy still learning the ropes, so we returned this evening (August 2019) as a going away dinner for my college-bound daughter. As we ALWAYS have, we ordered 4 meals for five people- because it's just too much food. The cook (not the same "new guy" as last month) not only did not offer any presentation value or commentary to the meal preparation, but flat-out refused to disperse our shared meals to multiple plates. Every order was required to be placed on the plates as they lined up with the order in which the selections had been written down. It was oh-so disappointing. The value of Tokyo Steakhouse has always been in the dining experience- but with the experience removed, the meal is no longer worth the price. read more

Arrived at 555 for 6 o'clock reservation for a birthday celebration. "We have some worker shortage your reservation has been kicked back to 730" there was no notification before hand,, like you are important to us we are having a problem and contacted us prior to or reservation time especially if they are kicking you back one and a half hours. as we sat there deciding whether we would wait an hour and a half to eat, many others arrived to be seated immediately! Needless to say there are many other better places to eat that respect your time and provide worthwhile service. Never again will we bother with this place. read more

I started calling about 7:45 pm. Hours show open until 10pm. Phone rang and rang, no answer. After about half an hour I decided to drive out. I walked in it was about 8:45 pm. They were seating a family for Teppan-Yaki. I let the host know I was there to order sushi to go. He rudely replied, we're closed. I have been going there for a very long time and every visit has been 5 stars. I'm not exaggerating. I like sitting at the counter eating sushi rolls, etc. and chatting with the cooks over a cold beer. Tonight I ordered off the menu and ate in the dining room. I had an 8 oz. lobster tail, an 8 oz. New York, tempura shrimp, rice, tons of veggies with some being tempura veggies, soup, salad, etc. I'm stuffed with 4 meals of leftovers waiting. It cost $45.99 and was possibly the most underpriced meal I have ever ordered (and I did the dollar Whopper). I understand the restaurant business and the food cost % along with much added labor probably means less % profit for them than the dollar Whopper. Everything was perfect including the service. I didn't think they were too inexpensive through the years but this is ridiculous. Somewhere else might charge $90 for just the lobster. The manager has always made me feel special, so it's the people too. My large Sapporo partially froze when I poured it into the frosted glass. Cheers! read more

This place used to be great but now seems dirty and non customer service oriented. Came in and ordered sushi to go and let the gal know we wanted to order a drink at the bar. No less than six people came to get drinks for others but no one ever asked if we wanted a drink. After 20 minutes we asked if there was a bartender and the gal said no. I went here on my birthday and if you have picky eaters as kids go here my 5, 8, 12, and I 15 years old all enjoyed this place very much. Good food, not very clean compared to other places. Our Chef cooked our meat PERFECT! Food was delicious and they have COVID seating still so you have plenty of room to grub! They had a lot of staff but the waitresses were had way to many tables to cover, so the services wasn't great. read more
