What an awesome experience I had today at this Tokyo Joe's. I've eaten here before because my wife loves it but I wasn't thrilled about it. I found it kinda bland and boring. But that was only until their front counter host, Mariano, hooked me up. I told him my dilemma and he was super helpful, upbeat, knowledgeable, and kind. He listened to what Ibsaid and suggested the most amazing bowl I've ever had. And it was ALL his recommendations. I had the teriyaki bowl but added green dragon sauce, spicy teriyaki sauce, green onion, a scrambled egg, chili flakes, and avocado. HOLY Flavor Explosion, Batman! Wow. It was out of this world. I would never have ordered it like this. It was thanks to Mariano. I worked in restaurants for many years, and Employees like him are more valuable than gold. I can't imagine they're paying him well, yet he was enthusiastic and genuine and truly had passion for the food and helping his customers. Mariano single-handedly converted me from not wanting to eat at Tokyo Joe's, to a huge fan of the food- all in a single visit. This guy should be made GM at the very least. Yeah it's a chain, but it's run like a mom-and- pop establishment. It's "healthy" food in that there are no French fries or greasy meals. It's rice-based and is essentially proteins and a TON of mix-ins and sauces. It's well done. All in all, excellent dish, even better customer service. This is how an eatery should operate. Kudos. Another great experience at Tokyo Joe's. Stopped in for lunch and took advantage of a free entrée on my Addict Club rewards account. SCORE! Amazing service as always (there was a bit of a glitch on my account, but they worked together to solve it and all was A-Okay.) I ordered the Thai Noodle Bowl. It was my first time trying it, and I really enjoyed it. It was a bit on the spicy side, which is noted on the menu board and overlooked by me (oops), but I like spicy food. You could probably request that they hold off on the red pepper flakes, or.use a smaller amount. Tasty sauce, veggies, noodles, and 3 kinds of protein. Very filling. I opted for a water cup today, though I normally always enjoy their iced teas. I so appreciate the high level of service I always receive at Tokyo Joe's locations. I have previously gone to three different Tokyo Joe's in the past but this is the only location I frequent now. It's the best location in terms of quality of food and service(in my opinion). The workers are always personable and provide great service. They always make my order how I like it because I am sometimes particular. The restaurant is clean and they are quick to clean up tables and dirty dishes after people are finished eating. I like the new menu revamp and tried the new peanut noodle salad. We came in on a Sunday evening (12/7/25) when it looked slow. We got our order in right away and had a seat. The order was taking a while but we understood that they may have been short staffed so we didnt feel the need to address it to the manager on duty. Our 8-piece California roll came in and the crab mix tasted off, and salty at times. After we finished the plate, we waited a bit longer and finally the Ramen arrived. The server said "Sorry for the long wait, we are short-handed and we're now out of Chicken". Once I looked at my Ramen, I noticed that there was barely any chicken in it. The chicken looked more like it was there for garnish rather than the main course. The server didn't bring us a spoon or anything to eat the broth, just chop sticks. We got up to get our drinks and the machine was out of Ice... no sign or anything to address that we would have "room temperature" beverages. We left right away, and will no longer be coming back. Always super fresh and delicious food, large portions at a moderate price. Sushi is much better than I expected and I always order the 8 piece CA roll so I can have that for dinner later. Great drink selection as well. Service is impeccable, the very nice staff check on you, fake your plates, and provide extra sauce without making you feel like you're stealing. When it's hot outside, the AC in this place hits the spot, very clean dining area, tables always wiped down. Big bonus restrooms are monitored and cleaned regularly. If you want spicey Asian food , look no further !!! This place is SPICEY !!! It didn't disappoint, you can either pick a pre made menu entree or you can build your own meal. I ordered a BBQ BANH MI. This bowl was on fire !!! I mean it was delicious . Ordered a potsticker for an appetizer, they were good, just not my flavor. Great customer service from the employees, we sat outside on a beautiful afternoon and they brought our meal out to us. Would definitely come here again and highly recommend eating here. I was excited about this concept and had been wanting to try Tokyo Joe's. I give it a 6/10. Great menu and great variety. I had a create your own bowl and choose White meat Chicken and rice base with teriyaki sauce. I expected the rice to be the Japanese type that is rounder and often called sticky rice and this was not that. The food was fresh and flavorful but I didn't like the quality of the chicken it was more dampish if that makes any sense but oftentimes tempura chicken is dampish so maybe this is the Asian style of cooking chicken. I also got a spring roll. The restaurant is clean and nice and food is fresh and the staff was very nice and the prices were good. Would I go back? Probably not. I prefer "Glaze Teriyaki" which is the same concept and only in New York City. read more

I stumbled upon this place completely randomly...I wanted to like it but I just couldn't. I got a bento with a spicy tuna roll, Salmon poke and the fish tasted so old. The quality was so bad I only could take one bite of the salmon. My bf said the same thing I did it when he tried his poke. The pot stickers were actually really good. The tea was good but when the star of your dish is something you can't even eat... I can't help but I wasted $36 on two bentos. I wanted to update my original review after giving this place another try. I ordered online, I didn't see one of the veggies- zucchini-in the bowl. My order was ready as promised, thank you for that. The yellow curry sauce is amazing but is actually moderately spicy, even though it's supposed to be mild. My nose was running by the end of my lunch. I prefer it to their teriyaki. I chose the veggie bowl with brown rice as the base, added the egg, broccoli, pineapple, snap peas, cabbage, carrots, red peppers, zucchini. I also added sweet potato and it was the only veggie I didn't like. The sweet potato didn't have that hearty sweet, sweet potato taste and was almost the consistency of a acorn squash. Friday night headed to a concert needed some quick bites! This place was fire!! Very friendly service, and cooks! They made sure we were satisfied. We ordered a poke bowl, spring rolls and California poke roll. It was Delicious, fresh and tasty!! They originally brought out a California roll, but as soon as i took it back to the counter they made it right and fast. The poke bowl was so fresh and so many options to create your own!! Came here for lunch cashier was super nice and got my food very fast overall came out really well but got the red dragon sauce instead of spicy Aki. The red dragon wasn't bad but idk suppose to be spicy as well but didn't taste spice to me and had more of a different taste. This was our first time eating at Tokyo Joe's, and we were really impressed. There are not many places we can eat full meals as a family, as we adults are picky eaters and our son is autistic and has a limited diet. I had the ahi tuna poke bowl. It was delicious. I think my only quibble is that they added a lot of wonton strips on top--if you look at the picture, it actually looks alike a bowl of cereal! But everything tasted great and fresh. My husband had a bento box with beef, veggies, and gyoza, and was quite happy. It's hard to find good gyoza in Arizona, but they did it well here. And our son had the kid's meal macaroni and cheese. It looked like the Kraft stuff, which pleased him. He also had the chocolate cookie (well, most of it) and it was freshly-baked and very good. I had to have a sample for quality assurance, of course. The place was kept clean even though it was quite busy at 11am on a Sunday. As we prepared to leave, a gentleman came around to clean our table and checked to make sure we liked everything. You select ingredients/protein, the size of your bowl, and sushi options. There are lots of menu options, however, it can get a little pricey with add ons. I ordered the Bento box meal with Sirloin Steak with teriyaki sauce, rice, and tuna roll. While the taste was decent, it was more rice than meat and the steak was slightly dry. I wanted this place to serve good food and good service. I was wrong. I ordered a build your own bowl with chicken and vegetables. When I got it they forgot ingredients, when told they offered no apology. The amount of vegetables was small, when I asked them why so little vegetables the girl I guess, said "oh it's supposed to be low carb and the vegetables have carbs". Great flavor and fresh veggies made it have that nice crunch instead of the soggy crap that sits under the warmer at panda. Sushi was ok. Not sure I would call it sushi as it's all imitation meat. Tastes alright cause of all the sauces but let's be honest sushi shouldn't be covered in sauce to make it taste ok!! Customer service was nice. Our cashier was new but very pleasant young lady! This place is really good, but they're lacking in customer service. I waited in line for about 10 min and waited 10 minutes for my food. It was during lunch hour, so they should have more then 1 person at the register. The lady at the register (didn't catch her name because she had a jacket on) wasn't friendly at all. To be honest she looked like she didn't want to be there.... I ordered a bento box with teriyaki chicken, rice, edamame, and spicy tuna sushi! The food was actually REALLLLLYYY good with the exception of the sushi...it didn't look or taste fresh at all. I only ate 1 piece because I was scared I was going to get sick, but everything else was delicious! Ramen has no flavor. Noodles have a very bad texture. Miso base is okay but tofu is the cheap bland and yucky kind. California rolls are decent but for store bought. Usually, I would say something, but didn't seem like a big deal, but now I'm bitter and regretting my decision. I did not suffer any mental breakdown, but writing always helps clear the head. The meal was actually great, except for the fact they charge for veggies. The chicken was white meat and sliced and covered in my sauce choice which was a peanut sauce. I love Japanese food and healthy options, but I couldn't bring myself to finish my salmon teriyaki because they had doused it with way too much sauce. It's what it is...a fast food-type restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring your meal to you at your table. First impression, the place was clean and the staff was friendly. My friend ordered the Yakitori Bowl, which she enjoyed a lot. I decided to make my own bowl with dark chicken, brown rice, zucchini, sweet potato, green and sweet onions, waterchestnuts and teriyaki sauce. It was also quite good.
