Never leave reviews but have to after seeing this place only has 4.1 stars... been going here since I was 14 years old. The woman in the front has watched me go from young teenager, to college kid to adult to dad. When she sees me she asks "where is baby:)??" The people complaining about service are comical. It may be an option but it was never intended for you to eat it there. Get it to go, and go eat it at home with your favorite show. The dining room is for blue collar workers on their lunch break. All that aside there's only one thing to order... spicy chicken side of teriyaki sauce. Or whatever you get make sure it has spicy sauce. So fire. Not actually spicy. Shut up about the service, shut up that some woman who doesn't know you won't treat you like the royalty you aren't. Get your food, support this small family owned business and thank me later read more

I've been eating here for years. Hidden gem of Portland. Friendly service. More than fair portions. If I'm eating teriyaki from anywhere else it's because Tokyo grill is closed or too far away. read more

Tasty food. I got the spicy chicken and really liked it. The chicken is so well marinated. I don't know how they do it. I will be going back. read more

Yakisoba tasted very cheap, flooded with sauce. Wasn't very impressed with the service wasn't terrible but just not the best experience. Not normally a person to leave reviews but this was just unpleasant. Food sucked read more

Food was alright, small portion for price. To top it off, I was waiting for my food in the lobby, while I was waiting for my food, the lady that works up front was rude and told me I can't eat or drink anything if it's not bought from this restaurant. She made me me eat my snack out side in the rain. I don't recommend this place. Please do better. read more

This place is truly a sleeper spot that you would have no idea serves delicious food. It is very humble-looking and doesn't stand out much, but the food has truly hooked me. I ordered #9 - the chicken & beef plate with rice and a side of surprisingly good salad, with an additional request of their special spicy sauce to go atop my proteins & rice. It was amazing. It kind of reminds me of the satisfaction of eating a halal plate - a mix of protein & rice married together with delicious sauce, but of course with a much different flavor profile. I'll definitely be coming back! A lot! read more

We really enjoy the chicken teriyaki and the yakisoba. The food is aways fresh and delicious.

I've driven by this place so many times (the strip mall it's in is pretty low key) and decided to stop by for an impromptu sit down lunch. I was blown away by how good this place is. I ordered the spicy chicken plate (extra chicken) and was incredibly impressed. The chicken is perfectly cooked and charred (still moist). The spicy sauce was creamy with the right amount of kick. I'd recommend this place to anyone to anyone looking for a quick, high quality meal. read more

Native Portlander here -- and my family's resident foodie. This is the greatest restaurant in the world. Its simple, straight-to-the-point menu is all I could ever ask for, and the food is amazing. The owners are uncommonly kind. They deserve your visit! read more

Similar to other reviews I've read about this place, the service/vibe/management approach is not positive -- you definitely don't feel like this place cares about their customers. From the glass wall that separates you from the gal taking orders, to signs about what not to do, to having no ice or even water service, to the not very friendly front person, the experience here gives little reason to want to support their business. While the food was good, and the amount of food was above average, those factors weren't significant enough to lead me to ever want to return to this Tokyo Grill. read more

Food was reasonably aok for a teriyaki grill .... Good portion.... But lots of flies in the dining area = not appealing .... Then, when I asked for a small container to go (I didn't eat the entire lunch), the counter gal told me "50 cents" .... I thought she was joking .... She wasn't .... I definitely would not support this place ..... thx, Steve read more

Tokyo Grill - No teriyaki sauce on my teriyaki chicken. Just chicken. - Japanese Near Me - Portland, Oregon

I won't eat here again. The flavor good but fatty meat and needs a little drizzle on top of the sauce. The rice was kind of dry even with the meat on top. The salad though Omg no just no. Slimy discolored lettuce and u lost my appetite. read more

I live nearby and I love stopping by every week or so. The people who run the business are very sweet and always put extra teriyaki sauce on my order without charge. My go to is the tofu teriyaki bowls which is very yummy. read more

Full disclaimer, I've probably spent close to $1,000 here over my lifetime. Why? Because this place is the type of no B.S. deliciousness I live for. The #2 "Special Spicy Chicken Teriyaki" is the only thing I ever get. The sauce they use is divine and the addition of some of their teriyaki sauce sets the whole thing off. The gyoza and other dishes are good too, but stick with the #2. This place has little to no ambiance but there's free water, and the food is insanely crave-able. read more

One of my favorite places for years. This is a family-owned local restaurant that really values its customers. I feel like family when I'm here. The go-to, for me, has always been their spicy chicken. Their spicy sauce has had me addicted for a while. It's not that spicy (for me, who loves spice), but the flavors really pop. love this place. read more

I've been having the spicy chicken for years. It is so satisfying and tasty and they are so consistent in preparing it. Also, the portion sizes across the board are really generous and its one of the main reasons I keep coming back. Only problem is the price has increased a good bit (DARN inflation). read more

Always slaps. The service is friendly and they get the food out to you promptly. Everything here tastes like it was made with love! The spicy sauce is the best in town. I love their traditional chicken plate or their yakisoba. You can't go wrong! So flavorful and juicy. Tip: the sell the spicy sauce (and their bomb salad dressing!) in a very generous container to use at home. A must!! read more

A quick place to get some teriyaki without any hassle. The menu is your typical teriyaki style with chicken, beef, or pork. They also have salmon, tofu, and short rib. The price is fairly reasonable and the portions are healthy. This place does get busy with the lunch rush. read more

My very first visit to Tokyo Grill was a success! I ordered chicken yakisoba. It was very good. The chicken was nice and tender with good flavor and the noodles were great. Also, there was enough for left overs, but I decided to stuff myself instead. I don't enough about chicken yakisoba to be overly critical of this experience. All I know is that it was good. My fav teriyaki in town and maybe anywhere (although admittedly, I only recently got into teriyaki). I always get the spicy chicken teriyaki which is more than enough for a meal. I love that they don't just top the chicken with sriracha but they make their own spicy sauce which tastes amazing, and the chicken is thick and juicy, unlike some places that serve paper thin, dry chicken. Comes with plenty of rice and a side salad with house made dressing. Service is always quick and friendly and very reasonably priced! I'm a regular read more

Always fast. Always delicious. Spicy chicken is my go to but everything is great. One of my favorite spots to grab a quick lunch on the go.

I was happy to find this place, but everywhere has their hours wrong. I don't know when they changed to being closed on Saturdays but it got me the first time I tried to go there. Past that I did enjoy their #2 and my SO liked the #1 but it was low on sauce. I am not sure if I was supposed to ask for little to go cups but I will next time. The chicken was good, the spicy sauce was good and not too spicy like I have had other places. The salad was exactly what I expected and hoped for. Very simple, lettuce and a sweet dressing. Overall I am happy with the meal. The lady at the counter, was friendly and got the order correct. read more

Excellent BBQ Chicken and Beef. Love the salad. Fast service and food is ready quickly.

Dining in experience is horrible! I'm all about not wasting, but the lady behind the register guards the basic stuff, like soy sauce, hot sauce, teriyaki sauce, napkins, with her life! She seems bothered when you as for soy sauce and she has to pour it herself, won't let you touch the bottle! Same for other sauces. Tables are completely bare, no napkins or anything, just sticky table surfaces. Please have a sauce section where we can help ourselves like a normal restaurant! read more
