My mother and I are regular customers of Tokyo Grill in Blacksburg. This wonderful restaurant is my favorite Asian restaurant in all of Virginia! The food is always excellent. The service is always friendly. The atmosphere is great! I enjoy talking to Virginia Tech students here about their university courses, and I love driving around Blacksburg, which is one of my favorite Virginia towns. I grew up in nearby Roanoke. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. HORRIBLE FOOD. This is not traditional Japanese food at all. We got $80 worth of food and we couldn't eat any of them. We asked kindly for a refund for the spicy tuna roll and tempura roll. The lady in the back started screaming and showing us dried up tuna. She then Refused and yelled that she's not going to give us a refund. Atmosphere was ass. The quality of food was poor. The second star is sympathy. This was my second time at this restaurant and it was a "let's give them one more chance" visit. Ordered a tuna poke bowl with a couple of leave-offs and a different sauce. Ordered online and was told 25 minutes (12:40 pm). I got there at 12:50 and they hadn't started. I got my food over an hour after I ordered. The bowl was almost all rice. The tuna was sparse and mushy. The instructions were "no red onion, no jalapeno, substitute spicy sauce for sweet chili sauce" which seemed to overtax her English skills. She resorted to holding up each topping and asking if I wanted it. Then she used less than a teaspoon of each. $18 I will not be spending there again. read more

This is cafeteria style that offers a variety of different items. The menu was a little overwhelming and the lady behind the counter came around to help but it just got more confusing. I went to Tokyo Grill today for the first and last time. I got a custom hibachi bowl with extra yum yummy sauce. There was no flavor whatsoever and the yum yum sauce didn't add anything. The soy sauce didn't either! I also got a spicy salmon roll. It was spicy... so spicy I could not eat it. The atmosphere was very tense when I entered. The gentleman and the older lady working appeared to be arguing but they only spoke Japanese and I had the strange feeling with the looks they were giving me that I wasn't welcomed. read more

Food was super yummy and it was all made super quickly often times I'm looking for an affordable place to grab lunch between classes and this will definitely be my new go to spot. Unfortunately I have no pictures of the food cause it was so good I ate it immediately. The service was good I think a lot of negative reviews are because of peoples cultural differences however it was clear from my time there the owners care about their customers and experience and them having a good time. If you treat people kindly they will treat you nicely back!! Finally it was a good place to get some studying done, but there was also friends just enjoying a good meal and a nice chat. This little restaurant is a 10 out of 10! The food is delicious and they cook your meal right in front of you in a reasonable amount of time! I got a chicken amd shrimp hibachi bowl. It was cooked with large chuncks of fresh vegetables and the shrimp was also plump, juicy and fresh! The chicken was good too! They have many sauces to choose from and are very friendly. The restaurant itself is clean, including the bathroom. I highly recommend this spot for a delicious lunch or dinner! read more

I picked up a bunch of orders for friends from here. I had overestimated their ability to complete the orders according to my schedule, but I think they did pretty great given that they only had 3 employees working at the time. Their serving sizes are definitely larger than Sushi Factory which can be a good and a bad thing. Their shrimp tempura rolls were so large that I couldn't eat them in one bite, which is just messy when it comes to sushi. I also didn't like their shrimp tempura roll at all compared to Sushi Factory's. In general, it was lacking flavor. Their dragon roll (eel) was decent. I also ordered a Thai milk bubble tea; there were too many over- or undercooked (hard) boba, so I will definitely not be ordering bubble tea from here again. I think their menu is versatile, and I'd like to try their other food items, but I definitely won't be reordering the shrimp tempura roll or bubble tea. read more

This place is great. Was confused why I hadn't heard about it before realizing it was new. A lot of people are probably going to find this place soon, and deservedly so. My wife loved her spicy tuna roll, and she was also really excited to see that they have poke. I hate fish, so I stuck with a chicken grilled noodle bowl, and it was great and perfectly seasoned. Worst hibachi I've ever had. My friend and I each paid $17 for the smallest portion of chicken/ steak hibachi with barely any rice. As I was eating it I was like, "what's that smell?" Well it was my food. The steak and chicken had no flavor, even after I put the yum yum sauce on it, but for some reason it smelled like If someone was walking around barefoot all day and accidentally stepped in a dogs BM. I ordered a California roll and a spicy tuna roll with a house salad and spring rolls. The spring rolls were the only thing decent. The food here is wonderful. Includes build your own hibachi bowls with choice of protein, starch , veggies,, sauce along with favorites like poke bowls, sushi, and crepes. Each entree is enough to satisfy a big hunger which I learned by making the mistake of over ordering. They also offer popular bubble teas although I didn't include drinks in my take away order. Parking is in short supply as there is Contruction where I guess the parking should be. I hope that doesn't prove to be a problem for business to this new eatery but since students usually are value conscious I'm sure they will manage to get a good and growing following. read more

Their food is amazing!! Their hibachi grill bowl is delicious and they have a huge variety of vegetables to choose from. They also have a large menu with many options! I absolutely love their boba tea! They have delicious and exotic flavors! My favorite is Oreo boba. Also, they have a variety of unique toppings to choose from such as lychee jelly and strawberry pop boba (they're delicious!). The only con of the restaurant is that sometimes the staff isn't super friendly but they definitely make up for it with their food! read more

My rating comes on the standards of a fast food/quick Japanese food. That being said Tokyo grill is the best option for hibachi and even sushi in the area. New, clean, flavorful, good portions. The hibachi comes with lots of options and all the veggies are fresh. Sushi is really exceptional as well, good quality fish , rolls are nicely assembled, sushi rice is done proper. Ordered the Spicy Crab roll and the Spicy Tuna and Salmon roll. Super delicious, definitely this place is the best place in Blacksburg and even Christians burg to get sushi. Ordered the Salmon Lover Poke Bowl one time. Personally, the bowl itself wasn't my style, but I could immediately tell that the fish was good. The California roll was mushy which made it unappetizing, on top of the fact that is was warm from sitting next to the cooked beef and mushrooms. Warm sushi is..... not good.
