We had their salmon and steak. Both were very flavorful. They gave us some of their own in store yum yum sauce, and it was terrific. Nathan, our server, was very friendly and helpful. Whoever heard of a Japanese or Chinese restaurant that didn't know what "combination fried rice " was?? She kept saying oh the entrees come with rice we tried explaining and she was having none of it. We opted not to stay. For some reason, I have never been to this Japanese restaurant having frequented the other two Asian-ish restaurants in town, and had some reservations due to the exterior and some of the bad reviews TE has achieved over time. Today, I resolved to give it a try-- won't try the sashimi the first visit-- but will try a seafood medley for certain. Pleasantly surprised to see jasmine tea on the menu (not traditionally Japanese) however it was served poorly, bag in cup and not with a tea pot loose leaves. I tried the wrapped shrimp appetizer which I neglected to get a snap of, but it was not bad if not a tad over fried. I had the clear broth with tons of mushrooms and scallions, not bad but not remarkable either. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and scallops, and the server kindly offered extra veggies iso steamed rice. As you can see below, a very fair and generous portion of proteins to vegetables, served in a soy butter sauce. Veggies nice and Al dente, shellfish prepared perfectly!!! Amazing! Much better than other limited options in town-- but you may pay a little more for a much more generous portion. This is a nice clean sit down restaurant, open kitchen with attentive service. The food was good, the service was great. It does have a fast food vibe to it, but expect a regular resteraunt, sit down meal. The ginger dressing is pretty sad, but the veg tempura and shrimp tempura were terrific (those sweet potatoes!!!!). The shrimp were almost creamy! We had the spicy california, their namesake roll, and the softshell one. All were good, my wife says they were a little heavy on the mayo. But i enjoyed the flavors. They also have a drive through and the entres you are used to at other asian or Japanese places. read more

For me the best food I had in Paris ..... In town for sixteen months at the local college out of all the places I tried this was the best . I ended up going here many times and could have gone everyday and I would have not gotten tired of it . My favorite is the the hibachi chicken. It was always made to order so it was hot and fresh with plenty of food on the plate. The only thing I regret is I did not try this until the last month I was in school. read more

I tried this place recently when I was in the area and was pleasantly surprised! I was a little hesitant because it looks a bit sketchy on the outside for a sushi place. The building looks like an old Dairy Queen or something similar (drive-thru and all), and it's basically in the middle of nowhere. Had I not heard good things about it from a friend, I probably would've passed, but I'm glad I went in. The servers were very friendly and quick, and despite the outward appearance it was clean and bright inside. I was the only customer inside (I went between meal times), but saw several vehicles go through the drive-thru window. I ordered a rainbow roll and salmon roll with a clear broth soup. All were fresh and tasty! The only complaint I had was the salmon roll was pretty rice-heavy. Normally they have a thin layer of rice around the salmon, but these had quite a bit. The picture doesn't justify it, but when I turned them over you couldn't see the salmon on most of them. I ended up not eating the rice from half of them, but that's just my preference; others may like more rice in theirs! read more

BLOWN AWAY!! I was shocked with my overall experience here in a very satisfying way. My wife has always commented on how good their sushi rolls were and the selective menu, but I completely had no idea just how good she really meant. I had the chicken teriyaki and her favorite is the Philly rolls and I was stunned. For the price & quantity, they have definitely won me over especially in comparison with their near by competitor. The food has no flavor. I find it hard to believe they cooked it fresh, it came out faster than McDonalds. The egg rolls were burnt, as well as the dumplings. We took it back and ask for a refund and they denied. read more

We tried the sushi at Tokyo Express. The tuna tower was excellent. Both of the other rolls, lava roll and lion roll, were good, but way, way too much sauce on them. They were basically soaked in the stuff so it covered up the flavor and definitely had a negative impact on the texture. All in all we will return, but we will ask for any sauces on the side. The atmosphere is very fast food-esque which also detracts from the experience. But it does solve the sushi craving without driving an hour to Bonham or Sherman. read more

Good sushi, lion roll is large and crunchy coating. Crunch roll isn't really crunchy at all like you think. Dumplings are real good. People are very nice. I've only done take out. But the restaurant itself..the tables are pretty. The entire place has been real clean when I've been there. Counter is clean, work area that people can see is clean. read more

I love this place! It's much cheaper than Sho Guns, and is much better. The restaurant is a decent size, not cramping you around any small cook areas. The food is cooked in the back and brought out to you, unlike other Japanese restaurants. I personally prefer it this way. The fried rice was very good, as was the sushi. Had dinner there last evening. It wasn't Shoguns quality but for the $, it was really good. The sushi (salmon) had bones in it (eeks) but had good flavor. Wasn't impressed with the calamari..... but the shrimp hibachi as really good. read more

If you have all day, it's a go! My boyfriend and I went because we like the sushi but we always just got it to go until we decided to eat it inside. Safe to say we were disappointed. The sushi was okay but the service was garbage, and the wait was very long. So moral of the story, if you have all day then go, if your in a hurry call 30-40 minutes in advance. read more

I'm rating Tokyo Express with 2 stars because the sushi was delicious (as well as beautiful on the plate)! BUT-- the restaurant was not clean. My shoes stuck to the floor in spots. I saw more than on server with fingers on customers' plates and even in food. More food service training definitely needed there. My entree was ok, but the cooked carrots were overdone and didn't really go with the meal. It would be nice to have veggies cooked in an Asian style (crisp-tender and flavorful) as the side dish instead. In the future, I might get sushi in the drive-thru, but won't be going inside again. read more
