Ordered delivery - it was good. Scallops were HUGE and fresh. Another albacore roll didn't taste as fresh. They use fake crab which was not mentioned on the menu. Not enough wasabi, soy sauce or ginger in the to go order.

The food was good, however the service here was lacking. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but there is no air flow inside, except when the front door is opened. It was hazy inside from the food cooking in the kitchen and there was a strong seafood odor emanating inside. With that said, we opted to sit outside. There were only 2 other couples finishing their food and the place wasn't busy. We sat down, waited, placed our order, and that was the last time we saw the female server. We were never checked on, had no water, and had to get up to request the check. I was not pleased and the overall experience was below average. This place is next to gas station/market, with only 2 parking spaces in front and 4 on the other end of the market. We probably wouldn't have eaten here if there was no parking available, due to the location and no street parking. The prices were average and the place was semi clean. We ordered the Mexican sushi roll, the Brussel sprouts, the spicy tuna crispy rice, and spicy ramen. The Brussel sprout appetizer was smaller than expected, but had good flavor. The sushi roll and spicy tuna was fresh. The ramen broth was delicious. It had a lemony, spicy flavor, and the vegetables were cooked well. Overall, this place was okay. Not great and not terrible.

I love Tokyocube and happy to be here every single time , their foods are amazing, staff are nice and friendly. The ambiance very lovely with joy. Parking in the gas station. We order Ika sushi, lemon rolls, lobster dynamite, lady Gaga sashimi, salmon sashimi with mango sauce and season change.

Wow wow wow - this little hidden gem exceeded my expectations. Super delicious super fresh super great and friendly staff. Amazing customer service add up and get a little pricey, but definitely definitely worth it for good sushi. I had a great time. We went during a good time a day when it wasn't too busy just a phenomenal place that's hidden in a little corner. I loved the vibe and the decor and just everything about this place. I will definitely be back.

I had been meaning to stop and dine at Tokyo Cube for 3 years! And one day we decided to give it a try as we called ahead and ordered a take out. While the restaurant is advertised as Asian fusion, their sushi menu looks very deep and has many traditional offerings. We had tuna, seared tuna, ikura (salmon roe), yellowtail, halibut, amberjack, monkfish liver, black cod belly, jumbo scallop and squid. Everything tasted very fresh and very much on par with the quality of our go to little cozy family sushi restaurant in a suburb of Tokyo. I especially enjoyed halibut, jumbo scallop and squid. One sushi I did not care about is my favorite ikura. Unfortunately it tasted stale. And I can tell that with a very high confidence because that same bitterness I tasted when I had ikura that had been sitting in the fridge for about a week and which had been purchased as fresh as it gets from a wholesale vendor in Japan. They don't have mackerel on the sushi/sashimi menu unfortunately. The sushi rolls were fine but I can't say I found anything I liked enough to recommend. The Japanese beer selection had Sapporo (a few varieties), Kirin, Asahi and some others! Which is a lot! If you don't know what to get, I recommend Kirin. It is my favorite. The second time we returned to dine in and the service was very friendly and efficient. The quality was as good. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, I recommend the desserts. We had this traditional Japanese yuzu cheesecake. We shared one and wished we'd had one each. The check arrived and it was a bit less than $200 for all of that and 2 beers and 1 non-alcoholic cocktail and we had ordered 2 or 3 extra sushi. With sales tax and 25% tip. And so Tokyo Cube had become our new go to sushi restaurant in Hollywood Hills. Location is interesting (to put it mildly). It shares a very limited space with a small gas station / convenience store and a weed shop. Only 4 dedicated parking spots for the restaurant and no nearby street parking on Cahuenga or Barham.

The food was excellent, with generous portions. Our party tried the salmon lover bowl, tempura udon, karaage chicken, shoyu udon, and takoyaki balls, all of which were delicious. The ambiance was easygoing and calm, creating a cozy atmosphere, especially with the option for outdoor seating. The staff greeted us warmly and provided fast, friendly service, with our order arriving within 10-15 minutes. Overall, I highly recommend this charming spot for a satisfying meal. They also have their own parking spot, albeit a small one.

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

When I made reservations on the phone I asked about the latest reservation and confirmed 10 pm - however I asked if I could sit at the bar and they said not at that time since they closed at 11. When we arrived, there was a couple coming in at 10 and sat at bar...maybe just miscommunication but tha could have prevented us from consuming our food quick and skipping on alcohol since the table we got was not the best. Sushi felt very fresh and there's something about the way they make the rolls that feels different about other places (not sure if in a good way) Great staff and sushi chefs- they were super fast moving from one course to the next one.

This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. I turned to Yelp for help and that - as always - was the right move! Izakaya Gazen is a chain, originating out of Tokyo with locations also in Honolulu and Little Tokyo, L.A. It's got the true feel of an izakaya (Japanese pub or if you read the Japanese characters, Stay-Drink-Place). The name Gazen refers to the chain and the "Gazen style food - approachable and shareable. Izakaya Gazen is known for its house made creamy tofu, often eaten with soy sauce and wasabi - and it was very delicious. Unlike the izakayas I visited in Japan, I didn't have to remove my shoes here - kind of nice, but I miss the true Japanese tradition. One tradition I appreciated was the large format Japanese beers (we chose Asahi) and the small, chilled glasses to pour into. I haven't found this Japanese touch on the glasses anywhere else in the USA. Usually, I have to ask for an old-fashioned glass or a juice glass and the servers just don't understand that this is how you drink from a large bottle in Japan. As with all Japanese dining establishments in Japan, you're warmly greeted the moment you enter, by the sushi chefs and the servers alike with "Konnichiwa!". It's a cultural thing in Japan and one I wish was more prevalent in the USA. Our server was delightful and seated us at a window table. We examined the excellent menu and went with two offerings - the Chirashi Sashimi Bowl and the Tempura Bowl - both served with a small sample of their creamy tofu, a tray of appetizers, miso soup, and a salad. A really good value ($32 and $25, respectively). I rated both of them five-star for presentation, taste, and the very fresh nature of the food. It was an outstanding hirugohan (lunch)! There are lots of great places to eat in DTLA, but we're seriously considering another visit to Izakaya Gazen this evening!
