My favorite ramen place ever! They're a small little upstairs restaurant with perfect "I just popped in a shop in Tokyo" vibes! They have a small menu, but every single thing is AMAZING Our favorites are the Tokyo curry chicken ramen, but the garlic mala tonkotsu with creamy garlic broth is also a winner We also love their shrimp bao buns with shrimp fried in potato flour, served with kimchi and fresh cucumber We once had a root beer cocktail here that was so good, but they haven't brought it back to their menu since (this is my petition, we ask for it every time we go in hopes it will return!).
Didn't have a reservation and showed up on a Sunday. I was told I had 45min -1hr wait but the time showed up on the text and 1hr and 45 min. Then 15 min later my wait was updated to 1hr. I went back 45 min later to see if we could get seated and practically the whole restaurant was empty. Honestly got the feeling that they didn't want to seat me or at least were indifferent to seating me. Food and service we so so. Broth was warm and not hot. Egg was cold. Overall it was good ramen but I remember it being better. At the end I was presented with a bill that included a tip and also a surcharge to use my credit card. I think both of these are insulting. You charge $20 for ramen, have mediocre service (probably cause they know their tip is included) and then charge 3% to use a credit card? I would think at $20 for ramen you could include any sort of credit card fee. I'm sure there's better options, with better service and better ramen. I hope others read this so you a least know what you are getting into. It is a cool location I just think the bar has dropped and needs to be raised again.
When you only have three days in DC during cherry blossom season, every meal has to be a hit--and this spot did not disappoint. Food: 5/5 As a ramen lover, I was eager to see if this place lived up to the hype--and it absolutely did. The second-floor space is trendy and chill, with mostly bar seating. We started with four bao buns--the fried chicken and fried cauliflower were standouts. For ramen, we got the kimchi ramen and the classic, both flavorful and satisfying. Dessert was the Yuzu custard, a refreshing and tangy way to end the meal. My top 3 dishes: 1. Cauliflower Bao 2. Kimchi Ramen 3. Yuzu Custard We also enjoyed Yuzu sake and a plum-based Ume cocktail--clearly, Yuzu was the way to go. The $130 bill included an 18% auto-tip, but we added extra because the service was that good. Service: 5/5 We had an 8:15 PM reservation, but wanted to eat earlier. The staff accommodated us at 7 PM, which was a huge plus. Sitting at the bar, we got menus immediately, drinks came fast, and appetizers were on point. While the space is a bit cramped, the overall experience was smooth and enjoyable. This place has great prices, amazing food, and a lively vibe--perfect for a casual night out with friends. I'd 100% come back!
Literally a hidden eclectic spot. Dinner, Drive-ins, and Dives featured this spot a couple of years ago. You can find the episode on YouTube, and I recommend you watch it before coming so you hear the background story. The ramen is so delicious, and thankfully not too salty like other ramen places such as JINYA or Chaplins. Service was great! I came on a Saturday around 12pm, and was able to sit right away, but while I enjoyed my order people filled the restaurant.
What so interesting about this bowl of ramen is the egg...I don't know why but that egg were the most perfectly cooked egg I've ever had. We went during happy hour. The Yuzu Sake was so yummy!! I do prefer traditional sliced meat in Ramen over the shredded they have but everything was so good...
With so many options in the area , Toki Underground was a little overrated and underwhelming overall in my opinion. I don't think that anything quite stood out as extraordinary to me that would warrant going out of the way to dine here. Fried chicken steamed buns were decent. The sauce that the chicken is tossed in is pretty sour and overwhelmed the other flavors, but it was a good concept. The Toki classic had a nice tonkatsu broth that was rich but wasn't greasy. The curry chicken ramen and kmi chi ramen were also tasty if you want to try something different. Their osen egg was perfectly cooked with the gooey yoke and was nicely marinated. The cookies with miso were initially intriguing until we were presented with regular chocolate chip cookies on top of a smear of miso. I think if somehow the miso was in the actual cookie or if they made a miso icecream it would have been more of a wow. The cookies weren't all that great otherwise in my opinion-- they were too hard and crispy.
Amazing spot with great food and fun atmosphere. Food was delicious we got a special tepei chicken curry and buns with fried chicken. Both were delicious the buns had great flavor with chicken as well as the veggies. Drinks I got the monster cocktail with whiskey and a pork belly garnish. Was really well balanced and tasty. Not too sweet or tart had a nice whiskey flavor. The ramen was perfectly seasoned and the chicken paired well with broth that was not too spicy had a nice flavor. Id recommend some kimchi with it to balance it out if you want more spice. I also got some pork belly. It was a great addition with chicken they played well with each other. Service was extremely friendly and helpful with everyone will definitely be back.
Giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the interior space. Ramen is delicious and the service was pretty quick considering their limited staffing. If you want a quick bite to eat and you're in the mood for ramen, this is the place! The broth is really flavorful and the noodles are chewy. Their karaage was the best I've had and their cauliflower steam buns were seasoned very well. At first glance they almost look like chicken, faked me out for a second. I also liked the fact that they have take out containers for leftovers out in the open so you can help yourself. Space inside just has tall counters around the room, I wouldn't recommend this space for a large group. I also liked that you could make reservations in advance. The parking across the street is kind of pricey, so try to find street parking. On the weekends, you can park by the curb in the residential areas without a permit. Would definitely come back here again.
This is my second time visiting Toki Underground, and it's been a mixed experience both times around. The food is so close to being great but always seems a little off: the chicken and pickled veggies in my steamed buns were delicious, but the buns themselves were dry, hard, and unpleasant to eat. The broth for the mala garlic ramen was good enough but not as garlicky or spicy as we were hoping based on the name. The pork belly mazeman on my first visit had a great sauce, but the meat was disappointingly tough and a bit bland. The dessert this time was excellent, though, I have to say - I love the yuzu and matcha flavors together, and it wasn't sweet at all, which was perfect. It was a great summer dessert. I just wish the dishes here had that little extra oomph to push them over the edge - it feels like there's always something off about the dish that pulls it down (dessert excluded!). I'm sure I'll come back here again, but I'm never quite as happy after eating here as I want to be. Portions are generous, the new happy hour menu is really nice, and I love the way it's decorated. Staff are all really nice, but service is a bit slow (it took a while for us to put in a dessert order or get a to-go box). Seating is very scarce. Definitely come early, make a reservation, or be prepared to wait - it's just a tight space. It's a little on the warm side (AC is struggling a bit in this heat, I think!), but I'm perpetually freezing, so it didn't bother me personally.
A small restaurant actually located high above ground and accessed by taking stairs, Toki Underground did not disappoint with their food! My friend and I had a reservation and took advantage of a $25 off $75 deal, so we ordered quite a few items--yuzu lemonade ($5), chilled tofu ($7), vegan dumplings ($8), red miso ramen ($18), spicy vegan mushroom shoyu ramen ($18), and shortcake for dessert ($8). The lemonade and tofu were nice and refreshing, and my friend practically inhaled the shortcake at the end. My mushroom ramen was on the saltier side and had beets and sour pickled vegetables which I personally thought clashed with the savory ramen broth. Otherwise the noodles were very good, and we left extremely full! Service was initially slow and it took awhile to get our waiter's attention to order, but the food arrived reasonably quickly and they checked in on us often. read more
It is a really cool atmosphere. It has stool seating all around the perimeter of the place, pretty small and you're close to your neighbors. Although it is a tight space, I never felt too squished. I got the mushroom shio ramen with gluten free yam noodles and it was amazing. I'll be thinking of this meal for a while! The gluten free noodles were the best gluten free ramen noodles I've ever had. And the ramen broth itself was unreal. The service is quick and the staff is welcoming and attentive. They only take reservations one week out so you have to be quick to book! Although it's a Michelin Star place, it is very affordable. read more

Food: Not great ramen. The broth didn't have the depth of tonkatsu that I'm accustomed to. Shredded pork added zero texture value, kale was an odd addition and the egg white was translucent. The corn had flavor but was definitely canned corn and not the pictured fresh corn on the cob. Water glass smelled like pork before I even ordered. Ambiance: music was so loud and seating was very cramped. Service: very nice and accommodating servers! read more
I ordered the vegan ramen for delivery and have mixed feelings. The good: the noodles didn't come soggy,, which is what usually happens when I get ramen delivered. It comes separate from the broth, and it looked like it was slightly undercooked, which is what you want for delivery ramen. I heated up the broth in the microwave and added it to the noodles, and within a minute, the noodles had the perfect chewy texture that I like. The bad: The broth tasted a little funny. Usually vegan broths from ramen shops taste pretty good, but this one tasted almost bitter. The choice of toppings was also a bit odd, specifically they added pickled beets (which may have contributed to the bitter taste of the broth) as well as Kombu sliced in really long strips (see attached). read more

Visiting DC and I stopped at this place, it was definitely worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, however, it is more of a modern fusion so if you're looking for a traditional feel then maybe it isn't for you. I love how wonder the staff was and the overall vibe. read more
Friday night dinner for two, walked upstairs to a very busy restaurant which is always a great sign. Highly recommend making a reservation via Resy. STARTERS: Fried Chicken Steamed Buns - order two/four: $10/$15 Japanese mayo, sweet chili sauce, seasonal pickles, cilantro, thai basil *I recommend you get an order of four because after you eat one you're definitely going to want another. The buns are ridiculously fluffy, the fried chicken has a spicy sauce that I could bathe in and the crunch is amazing. If you love a good crunchy sticky texture this is for you! This was my favorite bite of the night and will definitely come back to order four just for myself. Kimchi (contains fish sauce) - $4.50 *I was honestly shocked at how good the kimchi was, super freshy and tasty. I wanted a whole container of this to take home. Miso-Garlic butter Corn - Togarashi, scallions - $5 (GF) *The miso garlic butter is pretty ingenious, that hint of miso added a depth of flavor to the corn. NOODLES: Chicken Mazeman - $17 Broth-less noodle tossed in sweet soy sauce, served with crispy chicken thigh or mushrooms, soft egg, scallions, pickles and fried shallots *I wasn't really in the mood for a bowl of soup but I was in the mood for noodles and these didn't disappoint. Large portion, great to split if you're looking to try many menu items. DESSERT: Chocolate Chip Cookies - miso butter & cream $7 *3 cookies served warm with cream to dip them in SERVICE: The manager took care of us, very attentive and made great recommendations throughout our meal. read more
Came here for dinner on a Friday evening! Very minimal seating available. We had a reservation for 4 and we were seated at the bar. It was nice that we could watch them making the ramen. The ramen was very good! I was not very hungry at dinner so I took a lot to go. It was delicious for leftovers! The flavors were great! Yum! read more
Toki has been on my list forever and finally got a chance to check it out. FINALLY you can make reservations - no need for long waits! This probably is the biggest reason why I didn't go for so long. It's a very small spot and it's basically bar seating. We had four people with us and it's hard to talk to the furthest person from you. So honestly, I'd say go with one person max The drinks were good! I got the beez neazy. We shared an order of the pan fried dumplings and they were so flavorful! I then got the miso ramen. Delicious! Broth was good, pork was nice, egg was perfect. Overall a very nice meal! Definitely will come back again when I'm in the area! read more
I love love love the ambiance of this place. Darkly lit, sparkly lights, ornaments hanging as decor. A great chill spot to come with a friend or two. The fried chicken buns were fiiiiiiiire - definitely recommend. The main con in my experience was the lack of seating and wait time. Tight space and from what I recall there is really only bar seating. Be sure to make a reservation as they heavily prioritize people with reservations- I ended up waiting over an hour when the original estimate was 30 minutes, and the host said it was because the reservation party arrived late. read more
I think I saw this spot on Triple D so was in the area and decided to pick up. Quite popular based on the amount of reviews and looks like a fun place to eat-in. Dimly lit-Walked upstairs and looked like there were tables on both levels. Dine-in is in the evening weekdays and lunch hours on weekends and takeout starts around lunch til dinner. I picked up around 2 so quite as dine-in hadn't started. For starters it was the Pork Belly Steam Buns. Pork Belly was crispy and just the right amount of salty with the mustard Mayo giving it a slight kick. Pork Belly Mazemen was tasty with the fried Shallots taking it over the top. I really was looking forward to the Shittake and Cashew Dan Dan but wasn't what I thought it would be & was expecting more robust flavors. Might be better as a dine-in dish? Pickup order was ready as promised. Service was friendly and upbeat. Would like to come back for dine-in experience and would imagine reservations are a good idea given size and span of opening hours. read more
Amazing service and food. We tried an array of apps and each got a different entree. My favorites were the cloud shrimp and curry chicken ramen. Broth was so warm and comforting after a long walk around the city. Space is small so would be better as a date night spot then a family dinner. Our only complaint we had was the space of the bar and trying to converse was hard (we had 5 in our party) but a fault of ours not theirs for not checking first. With no reservation they were still able to seat us immediately which we greatly appreciated. read more

Ramen was delicious. Even though we made a reservation, we were sat in their outdoor seating in the middle of winter- in like a tent. It was freezing and nothing like the ambiance of inside the restaurant. That was disappointing since we planned this dinner way in advance. Also the restaurant was not in a safe area. read more

I finally got to check out this ramen spot located on H street. It's a pretty quaint spot like a lot of its neighbors in that area but really cool layout and decor, and the manager's service was impeccable. The menu offers starters like kimchi, karaage, dumplings, steamed buns (with options ranging from $5-$20), and ramen options such as their classic, mala garlic, and taipei curry chicken (ranging from $19-$21) with the ramen having a variety of the add-on options. I went with their classic which is a braised pork option, with a karaage add-on and an order of the steamed veggie dumplings. The wait for food wasn't terribly long. The steamed dumplings were solid, the karaage fried perfectly and seasoned well, and the ramen was pretty good, fresh toppings and flavorful my only complaint is that I would have liked the noodles cooked a little more. I'll definitely be returning to try out a few more of the menu items. read more

This has been on my list of to try ramen for several years now. It's been always tough to get a reservation but was able to grab 2 5 seats reservations for a party of 10. Seating is very prompt and if you don't show up on time; your spot is guaranteed to be replaced. This is a small and rather packed space. There are no group tables and it's all bar styled type seatings. I got the Toki Classic ramen bowl and the Jade Tower as my cocktail beverage. The ramen and cocktail were above decent. I could see why the quality of ramen drives such a packed crowd. However, the service could be a lot better. Our server was definitely pushy and was also in a bad mood. Unfortunately that affected our overall experience there. Nevertheless, the food was good and would look forward eating there the next time I'm in DC. read more

I wasn't a huge fan of this location. My friend saw a video posted online and thought this would be great to try. First impressions, she was under the assumption that this would be ground level or downstairs but turns out, it's upstairs. She was bummed out by that but I didn't mind. It's a very tight spot, hardly any room to walk. There are no tables, everything is bar seating, that wraps around. Kudos to the employees for working so closely together and not losing their minds. It was uncomfortable for me to sit there, eat, chat - all I thought about was leaving. Even the person next time me kept elbowing me, swinging her hair - that's how close you sit next to others. We ordered the Pork Belly Steam Buns (two) appetizer. This was my favorite dish. The buns looked different - I loved their color. It was very fluffy, almost like macaron texture. I didn't enjoy the sauce that came with it because it had a very tangy taste, like mustard Mayo which didn't go well with the flavors in my opinion. The toki classic was okay. My friend and I agreed it was something we could make at home. Nothing from the dish made us feel like it was exceptional or out of the norm from what we eat day to day. I will say, it's very filling, there's no way of finishing everything. They did get my friends order wrong and she had to try and tell someone, they were good about replacing it. My friend didn't like how the server would say things to her, she thought it was unprofessional. Again, it's tight quarters so I get that it's hard to get to people and ask how things are. I would have to turn around and try to get my servers attention. Parking isn't too bad, you do have to parallel park and you do have to pay for parking. All in all, I would not go back there, because it was extremely uncomfortable and the food was okay. Nothing special. The decorations in the restaurant are different but not worth all the hype. read more

After hearing lots of great things about the ramen here, I finally decided to check it out. The vibe of the place is cozy counter style with very limited seating. It's VERY small and if you don't like being elbow to elbow with your neighbor I don't recommend. The decorations were cute and service wasn't bad. I highly recommend getting a reservation on resy beforehand. I had to book about 3 days in advance. I checked in on Yelp and got free dumplings which were awesome! I really liked the crisp on them and the pork flavor on the inside. I tried the curry chicken ramen and my friend tried the chicken bun. I thought the ramen was tasty, it would rate it 4/5 hence the review. The flavors were a bit bland and not spicy, despite me asking for it to be made spicier. The chicken was a bit over cooked and I didn't love the type of noodles in the ramen. They felt like instant ramen noodles. Overall it didn't hit the spot as much as I expected. The portion size was good for $18 and I'll get two meals out of it. My takeaway: Worth trying once but not worth coming back. read more

Toki underground is really an underground spot. The place is really small so you be lucky if you find seats available. The room is set up as ramen bar and the vives are very urban style. You will stickers and figures of anime and bands. The food never disappoints, the ramen is good, I think they could have other classic flavors but the Buns are sooo good. The chicken is a little spicy and the pickles make a great combination. The dumplings are great for starters. Our server was very friendly and attentive, the hosts could improve their hospitality manners and be more kind with people. But in overall is a good spot specially in this weather. read more
It's a small restaurant and all the seats are around a bar/the wall. Not the most conducive for larger groups. Service was quick, food came out fast for us. The pricing was pretty standard for ramen in DC (around $18-$22 per bowl). The location is a bit out of the way, and there was a weird smell coming from the bar downstairs that was a bit unpleasant, although it disappeared when we went up the stairs to the restaurant area. The noodles were nice and springy/chewy (which is my preference, as opposed to softer noodles), and the garnishes on top were pretty standard. The egg was a bit too soft boiled for me, but the runny yolk melded well with the broth. I had the Toki Classic and it was pretty good. The broth was rich and had good pork flavor. The braised pork was pretty good; a nice change from the normal chashu that often comes with ramen. read more

I was super excited to try this spot after reading reviews and boy was I not disappointed! Despite being called Toki Underground, this spot is actually located on the 2nd floor. The exterior windows are all full of stickers and I struggled for about 2 seconds to find the entrance. I made reservations beforehand because I read how packed it could get and we were seated promptly. The vibes are very hipster and lowkey, and the decor was very cool and chill with a ton of nice figurines and stuffed animals in glass cases. The menu was pretty expansive and decently priced. We decided to try the Pork Belly Steam Buns ($10), Red Miso Ramen ($18), and Taipei Curry Chicken Ramen ($18). I also ordered an Apple Sidra ($5). The Pork Belly Steam Buns were so good. The pork was tender and succulent with great seasoning and the buns were soft. Overall, it was a 9/10. The Red Miso Ramen was delicious! I was told it is a favorite among customers and it was easy to see why. The broth is rich and hearthy without being overwhelming. The noodles had the perfect bite and the pork was so juicy and tender. Overall, a 10/10! The Taipei Curry Chicken Ramen was just as delicious as the Red Miso. The broth is infused with curry, giving it a bit more body and flavor than the Red Miso. The noodles were also well done with the perfect bite. The fried chicken was amazing! It was crispy and crunchy and soaked in the broth, giving it a deeper flavor. This was also a 10/10! The Apple Sidra was yummy and reminded me of a less carbonated version of apple cider. A very easy drink that's not as sweet, it was an 8/10. Overall, this is an amazing spot that lived upto my expectations. I highly recommend popping by if you have the chance and want some really delicious ramen! read more

What a scam! Don't come here!! I called at 1:47 pm today and asked if we needed a reservation or if we could just walk in. They took down my name and phone number and put me on the waitlist. I was told the wait would be between 30 and 45 min. I received a text confirmation immediately after hanging up the call. After that, we never heard back, so we took a Lyft from the National Mall and arrived around 2:43 pm. When we went upstairs and told them we were on the waitlist, we were then told they closed at 2:30 pm and wouldn't reopen for dinner until 5 pm. WTF?! They never told us this on the phone when we called?! Plus, how would a 30-45 min wait even make sense if they closed at 2:30 pm?! They didn't have an answer for any of these questions except that their manager told them to shut down lunch service. So now we are out 20 bucks each way in Lyft fees and no lunch!! We ended up walking around the area to see if there was anywhere else we could eat. At 3:03 pm, I received a text that my table was now ready. What a scam!! They make reservations and promises of a table even when they're closed!! read more
Was recommended by a friend to check this place out. I thought it was good but not amazing. The inside is tight but has a cool atmosphere. I tried the Toki Collins and Baijiu I Think She's Got It cocktails and thought both were average. The Baijiu I Think She's Got It was too sour for my liking, but my friend enjoyed it. I tried the Red Miso and the Vegan ramen and didn't find any aspect that stood out to me or was memorable. The braised pork in the Red Miso was very lean and I would have liked it to be a little fattier. I'm interested in going back to try the other non-ramen starters and noodle dishes, but I'll probably pass on the ramen and cocktails. read more

This was my second time going to Toki. I had the chicken curry ramen, fried chicken buns, and a cocktail. Overall the food and service at Toki is amazing. This is definitely some of the best ramen I've had. The only negative I have with this location in particular is that it is very small, and the inside is hot. If you plan on dining in here, just be aware that seating is limited and it's very close together. Lastly if you plan on visiting this location, I'd recommend taking a Lyft or Uber here. read more

Phenomenal. We had confirmed reservations via Yelp, but were not in their system when we got there. They got us in regardless on a busy night . That was a huge relief as we had hungry kiddos and the neighborhood has not yet fully gentrified all of the goblins out, so we felt a little unsafe walking around. So A+ for their service. This restaurant only has bar seating so it was definitely not ideal coming here with three other friends. Overall, the vibes were nice and love the graffiti bar aesthetics. The server/bartender was super interesting and funny to talk to and he knew the food (and how it's made) extremely well! Also, note that this place is an Asian fusion restaurant - if you're looking for authentic ramen, this is not the place to go to. My friends and I ordered two "Pork Rinds" appetizers for $2.50 each. The pork rinds were extremely crispy and flavorful (some of them were slightly stale but that's OK). You can really taste the fat on them. It didn't come with a lot per plate, but I'd highly recommend getting an order to snack on while waiting for ramen. I got the "Toki Classic" ramen with some beech mushrooms ($15 + some up charge that I forgot) and I was super excited to try it! Upon first sip of the broth, I found it to be quite thick and it was pretty bland. I would prefer a stronger pork flavor. I loved the ramen egg (which was done perfectly). The spring onions were a nice touch along with the mushrooms. I thought the braised pork was interesting (kind of like what you'd put in stew). It was tender and soaked up the broth well, but to be honest, I miss the char siu you usually get in authentic ramen. Overall, my friends and I thought it was an interesting take on ramen but we were not impressed. The portion size was pretty small and left us pretty hungry. We felt like we were eating a stew that happened to have ramen in it. Again, great vibes and service. Probably a good choice to go to for a bar, but I don't think I'd come here for the ramen next time. read more
There are few places that offer such a vast mix of culinary options than DC. I've had Toki underground on my radar, aka wishlist, for a number of years now. With this much built up anticipation, can this possibly end well? THE BAD: during these strange covid times, restaurants everywhere have altered their operating hours. For Toki, this means no indoor dining for lunch, so my experience is simply limited to takeout. Not necessarily bad, but nothing beats a good indoor dining experience. THE GOOD: that Taipei curry chicken though! I never pass on a bowl of ramen. Might I add....crispy fried chicken swimming in a pool of warm curry broth. Fresh veggies, beautifully cooked noddles. This is of course a detour from the traditional miso ramen I am used to, but I could not have been more satisfied with the outcome. Easily one of the best bowls of ramen I've had. The owner messaged me directly as they weren't happy with the rating, got no reply then, and now (2 months later) decided to leave a snarky comment about my 4-star review for no reason. Is this the new passive aggressive service when you don't get 5-star? Way to scare people away...and undo any good service that their staff provided during our visit. read more

I don't remember the last time I came to Toki but it had been years! Just like I remembered it, food was delicious and everything hit the spot! I love that you can now make reservations on resy! We had to find a last minute lunch spot so I was able to book a resy right before they opened. We started with the steamed buns for 2. DIY which was nice! So good and simple! I wish we got the 4! I had the vegan spicy ramen..loved everything that was in it and did not have to add anything. The vegetables were so good and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The classic ramen was superb with the tender pulled pork. The waiter was so attentive and made sure everything was great. I am still a big fan of Toki and highly recommend it if you are craving ramen. Looking forward to trying the brothless ramen! read more
Tried this place with some friends. It was featured on DDD. I tried the Vegan Dumplings, Fried Chicken Steamed Buns, and Tonkotsu Tsukemen. The buns were the star for us. I could do a whole meal of those and would like to try some of the other varieties on our next visit. My entrée portion was very big and extremely filling. We were a little disappointed the vegetarian dumplings that were prepared on the DDD episode weren't available. The atmosphere for this place is really upbeat and funky. It's above a bar and could be a little difficult to find. I'd recommend reservations as it's not very big and it's all bar seating. Staff was very kind and attentive. read more

Does this place have a Kid friendly menu?
There is no particular menu for kids, but you may ask extra bowls or plates to share with younger children.
I only see reservation times for 5pm and later, are we able to make reservations for lunch?
No, they are only open for dinner and late night!
Are children allowed, specifically a 1 yr old?
yes, we get plenty of kids n here- we only have bar seating/stools so please keep that I mind!
How do you get a reservation here? Every time I go on Resy it says it is unavailable?

Are there gluten free noodle options?
Hey Nik, Yes, we offer kombu (seaweed) noodles as well as great gf apps. Additionally, if seaweed isnt your jam, if you wanted to bring your own gf noods we'll cook them for you. Thanks-
Do they have broth made without pork? And if so, can you substitute it into any dish?
They do pork broth or vegetable broth. They'll ask when you order
Do all the non vegan ramen options contain pork in the broth?
I don't I've only been there once I could find out but as of now I don't know
Is Toki Underground handicapped accessible?
No and It's not worth the trouble. Even if they let you use the freight elevator, the restaurant is very small. I know they take to-go orders. I've seen them run food downstairs. Try Daikaya on 705 Sixth St. NW.
