    Compass Holidays

Having taken tours with Tianbao/Compass Holidays (天宝旅游)before and having received positive…read moreexperience I decided to go with them to the Guizhou No Shopping Tour (贵州纯玩团). After taking this tour, I am traumatized to the point that I will no longer attend any tours containing Overseas Chinese as some members cannot keep their hands to themselves while out of North America. If it were possible for me to give 0 stars, I can assure you that it would be given. On the first day when we arrived at the airport we were picked up by a driver with another group of 8 based out of Vancouver. The driver did not know who to pick up and dropped us off at the hotel while giving us all a sheet of paper left on the front desk by our tour guide with the hotel staff. We had to check in by ourselves. On the second day, we were taken to our optional programs. In the contract, it specifies that each person would have a choice of options to attend up to 4 programs. In reality, we did not get to pick and it was based on a majority vote. As the group from Vancouver had a group of 8, out of 15 people they obviously had an upper hand and won so we were taken to the paper factory. As we were driving to the paper factory, there was a landslide. Given the concerns I had with safety, I voiced them to the tour guide but he did not care and forced us out of the tour bus when we arrived on site. During this trip, we were taken to shopping stops although in the contract it clearly specifies it was a no shopping tour. We stayed at each stop for between 40-50 minutes. Throughout the tour I was repetitively molested (though not sexually) by another member in our tour group. The member would caress my face and attempt to run her hands down my body. As she reached my neck, I would shove her hands off and scream for help. She was with the Vancouver group of 8. It got to the point where another member had to step in to assist me as we were close to calling the police (or dialing 110). We were not able to do so as we were taken to tour areas where there was no phone or internet signal. We had informed the tour guide of what was happening, but he just told us that "Over here, people touch each other all the time". What creeped me out the most about this tour was that a few members and myself became prey and targets to the molester and her friend. I was stalked, harassed, threatened and molested. On the second last day, her friend who was clearly drunk picked up a bottle and attempted to threaten and beat up a few members in our tour including myself all while the tour guide stood there and did nothing. The tour guide himself was uncaring, lazy, always late, and rude. We had requested the company 3 days in advance to provide us with a driver that would take us from the hotel on the day of our flight departure at 5:30 AM. Yet, the tour guide denied our request and also humiliated us in public. Instead, he requested us to pay $70 USD for a pickup service that would not leave until at least 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM, When I told him that I would instead take the taxi he warned me and another member that "We may not be able to catch our flight in time or make it out safely if we did not use their company's service". After the program had ended and our tour guide said he was no longer responsible for us anymore a member and myself decided to call a taxi to take us to the airport. While in our room, we were blocked by a hotel staff from leaving. Luckily, another member in our tour group was available and helped us call the taxi that would take us to the airport. The tour group member and I ended up staying in a hotel next to the airport in order to catch our early morning flight. I am lucky to have made it out safe and very much alive back home. After arriving home safely, a complaint was filed. Their response to this complaint was that it was cultural difference or misunderstanding. I am appalled as threats, harassment, and molestation are a pretty universal language to me. I also have doubts as to whether those two perpetrators from Vancouver were ever contacted in the first place. I will never be using their service ever again if this is their response to safety matters. P.S. I have included pictures of the lady that molested me. Her name is Sin Ting Tsang as well as her friend that threatened us. If you ever see either one or both on any of your tour groups, BEWARE!

Out of 56 passengers, there were 7 non-asians (including the driver). When travelling to the Maritimes, its important to dress for warm and cool climate This trip is child friendly although I personally would not bring a child younger than 7 years old due to the length of time on the bus. With that being said, there were children on the bus as young as 1 years old with no inconvenience to the other tourists traveling. People on the bus can be very pushy (I.e. coming off the bus). We all come from different walks of life so not everyone is as mannerable or courteous. It is a guided tour but not a very rigid tour. There are some moments where you can do your own thing even if it's for a bit. Wifi on the bus and in hotels are not that great. Although attractions are optional, the tour is surrounded by them so there may be nothing to do/see if you opt out of it. If you opt out of the meal plan, the lunch/dinner time is 1 hour so stay within the area when getting food. Whether you purchase the meal plan or not, most of the food stops are Chinese buffets. To keep the seating plan fair, rotational seating is done daily so everyone sits in the front, middle and back of the bus by the end of the week. Go on this trip with an open mind because bus trips are not for everyone. I was satisfied and pleased with hotel selections For a family of 3 we paid $1599 (not including the attractions and/or meal plan). This is roughly what we would pay if going to Cuba. We had a great time and learned and seen a lot. For this price, I cannot complain at all. Our guide Tim picked us up at the Fallsview Casino, which was convenient for us, before we picked up one more group of 2. The small group of us (4 plus Tim) was just the right size. Tim was very knowedgeable both about wine and the Niagra region. He took the time to get to know each of us and what tastes were like in wine. We stopped at 4 wineries (all were equally delicious, although I'd have to say my favorite was the red Ice Wine from Vineland) and each time Tim brought us inside, introduced us to the staff, and helped offer suggestions based on what he had learned about us. We also learned the proper way to taste at our very first stop. This was a welcome change from other tours we have done in the past where the tour bus simply stops in the parking lot while you go inside, sample, then come out when you are ready to leave. This was much more personable and made for an excellent tour experience. In addition to the 4 wineries we stopped at the Upper Canada Cheese company to sample their fine cheeses, as well as stopped mid-day in Jordan Village for lunch. The tour was well structured and you had plenty of time to shop after each tasting as well if you wanted to (although none of the wineries/staff were pushy in any way whatsoever.) Overall it was a great day, great experience, and I would certainly consider other future tours with Discovery.

Zoom Tours do not deliver on the services they promise, they treat their customers disrespectfully,…read moreand once they have your money they don't care about you anymore. They operate under several company names (such as Royal Niagara Tours), and pair those false names with empty business addresses to hide from complaints, deflect enquiries to "whatever tour computer booked through" (our tour guide Ali's words), and try and confuse anyone who tries to chase them to get their money back. We bought tour tickets from the Royal Niagara Tours website for the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights tour. Their website advertised several different packages with optional inclusions, of which we chose the most expensive package that included all the sights and dinner. The trip started off with confusion and chaos. The bus arrived late, the tour guide (Ali) didn't know who he was picking up, and didn't know what activities anyone was doing. After a speedy bus trip (including plenty of horn blasting) to Niagara, we were hastily pushed to do activities that weren't included in the itinerary we booked. We couldn't ask questions because the tour guide (Ali) was extremely dismissive and rude and brushed us off while continuing to shout at other tour members. He tried to excuse his disrespectful behaviour by saying "he naturally has a loud voice", and has "37 years of your experience" as an excuse for his dismissiveness. Afterwards the tour guide (Ali) demanded we pay him for the activities, on top of the tour we already paid for. Although we bought the most expensive tour package, we were given the same experience as people who paid for the cheapest tour package. As for the sightseeing and activities, we didn't see most of the things advertised. What we did see was via a quick drive by on the bus. Taking photos of the Winter Festival of Lights wasn't possible on a moving bus. We didn't go to Niagara-on-the-lake as advertised. Seeing the falls illuminated was from the bus while we were leaving. The Winter Festival of Lights fireworks show advertised was to start at 8pm, but our tour guide (Ali) rushed everyone on to the bus and left at 7:30pm, angrily shouting at us that the fireworks had ended (even though the restaurant staff confirmed the fireworks show happened the night before and would be happening again that night). There was no time to explore Clifton Hill as advertised, and we were told by our tour guide (Ali) that if we wanted to see it we should eat fast. There was no free time at all even though they advertised 2-3 hours of free time. But the worst part of all was the dinner experience. The group dinner table was in the back corner of the restaurant, where we could barely see Niagara Falls, and the table didn't have enough seats for all guests. While waiting for a solution my girlfriend politely asked if there was somewhere else we could sit instead, but our tour guide (Ali) raised his voice towards her and told her that she was just "complaining, complaining, complaining!". Once the restaurant staff brought some extra chairs we headed to the buffet, but our tour guide (Ali) literally jumped in front of my girlfriend, raising his voice once again and saying "so you're not eating now!?", to which we politely and calmly replied that "we are going to the buffet to get food", which received yet another raised voice response from our tour guide (Ali) of "then why are you taking your bags!?". This is the point where I asked for contact details to call the tour company, as our tour guides behaviour was becoming too much to tolerate. The tour company representative agreed to settle for a refund, and asked me to send an email detailing the issues, which I did, but not surprisingly, after 3 months of trying, they still neglect to respond or give us our refund. Unfortunately there is a word limit for this review, but overall this was one of the worst tour experiences we've ever been on. We paid a premium price for what was supposed to be a unique and special Winter Festival of Lights experience, we were rushed around in disorganised and confused chaos, we didn't receive the advertised package of experiences, and we were treated horribly by the tour guide (Ali). We could've had a better experience for half the price by booking our own bus to and from Niagara, buying our own tickets for experiences, buying our own dinner, and saving ourselves the poor treatment from a rude tour guide and scam your company. I would not recommend anyone to book through Royal Niagara Tours or Zoom Tours, and carefully investigate any Niagara Tour company before booking, as they will more than likely try to hide behind some other business name.

THIS IS LONG AND YOU SHOULD READ IT. BUT IF YOU'RE LIKE ME AND JUST LIKE TO GET TO THE POINT,…read moreSKIP THE STORY AND JUST READ THE LAST LINE. Please be wary of this company. I hired "LUXURY" Coach to bring guests from Toronto to a cottage pool party on Georgian Bay. Leave from Ossington Station at 10am and leave the cottage at 9:30pm. When booking they suggested that paying cash was an option to avoid taxes which I agreed to but they put the deposit to secure the booking on my credit card. The arrangement was that I was suppose to pay the driver cash at the cottage because I was the host and arriving 2 days earlier. That was fine. Out of 17 expected passengers only 7 were taken because others found a way up and had the option to take the coach back. Knowing the driver would be waiting all this time I told the booking woman he was welcome to stay in the cottage and relax since the party was outside. Upon arrival I asked a guest to invite the driver down, he returned saying "He wants his money an he'll stay in the bus". Again, not an issue to be because it's 1pm, he's only leaving in 8.5 hours! Some guests had to return to the city so they drove. My property is 20 acres, my driveway is 500 ft with a real parking lot for at least 8 cars on the first level and the same at the second level. When guest were leaving around 5 they came back to inform me the bus driver had moved into the entrance and would not let anyone leave the property. Note that he chose to trap people rather than walk down and speak to me personally to resolve "HIS SITUATION". I am 53 years old, my 4 bedroom cottage is on 20 acres with a 50ft pool. I am not trying to stiff someone out of a $1500 bill which was done so people wouldn't drink and drive. This bully, physically threatening move of taking my guests hostage to be paid made me lose it. I walked up furious, asked the driving what kind of idiot or thug does this to get paid (actually I was yelling and swearing) -- I was told he was their best driver and so great with clients and passengers. Well I guess they've hired ex-convicts for their lesser drivers if this is their gold standard. I made him get the owner on his phone and was really angry that is was the driver's tactic the tactic - the owners response was "Well this is what you agreed to". I told him to forget the cash, put it on my credit card, and make it stop so my guests could leave. I was told the deal was to pay cash and that's what it's going to be. He also told me if he had to he would get in his car and come to collect his money personally. I told him I had 30 guys with me that could turn his bus over. Dramatic but we're 30 gay guys who work out to look good but the strength really comes through if needed - it was a great laugh when I got back to the pool and told them what I'd signed them up for. I hung up the phone and told the driver that if he didn't leave my property I would call the police. He left. A couple hours later the police showed up at my door saying they'd had a complaint about not being paid. After I told them this story and they saw a bunch of 40-50 year olds in a cottage they didn't quite understand why they were there. I guess "Luxury Coach" is more accustom to dealing with teenager parties than executive events. Don't let the pretty leather seats fool you as they fooled me. I went against my own rules and hired something I found through google. Ask someone for a referral and you won't have this experience. I have written one review in my entire life and that was for a terrible hotel in Thailand. I have better things to do. But this was such a bad experience that it would irresponsible not to share. I had a "calm" second call from the owner - who got gangster and threaten to collect his money and who can't be directly contacted through the website. As I client I expect a written email formal response to an awful situation, not calls from the Sopranos. I'm writing this because this disaster was on June 18th where I offered to make the full payment on my visa. On the 19th I got a call from the owner who would, AGAIN, not take my Visa for payment. He wasn't rational, he wouldn't discuss it like a professional and I literally told him I would speak to him and deal with it in the city when I returned to the city on the 23rd. As expected, the calm guy who wanted to be paid got upset when I wasn't delivering cash. But I see today (on the 20th) that my credit card has been charged for the full amount. I don't care they got their money for terrible service and behaviour I have never experience in my life. I am paying the $1500 so I can write about my experience. Instead of resolving an issue that never would have escalated if his driver had 5 seconds of sense to walk 50ft and speak me, this would never have happened.DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PROFESSIONAL CAPABILITY THEY CLAIM TO DEAL WITH THE SIMPLEST ISSUE. IMAGINE IF YOU HOSTED 30 CLIENTS
