All the tasting tours I've been on have been lead by friendly staff who really appreciate their work. We loved the winery, the wine selection sampler they had for us was great, also the cheese platter was delicious. Aram walked us through the entire wine making process from planting, harvesting, wine making and also answering all our questions. He is very knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful for pictures. Holland Marsh Wineries is a small winery located in GTA. I have drove by numerous of time and finally get to drop by for a tasting. If you are into wine that has more of a sweet note, you would find something you enjoy here. Their bottles started at $14.95 with nothing too pricey, good for everyday enjoyable. Tasting is $2 per sample and with every bottle $4 ($2x2 tasting) can be deduct off the purchasing price. Or you can opt for $10 for 6 samplings. We ended up buying a bottle of white after doing the $10/6 samplings. But the staff says since it was a special tasting deal so there won't be any credit even with purchase which I found it was unreasonable. So I should just do 5 samplings for $10 and have $4 credit back for purchasing instead of feeling ripped off and left with a sour note. I really hope they would adjust that policy or just not offers the so call "tasting deal". read more

Stopped in to see this winery as we were passing by. The location looks quite nice for events. We sampled 4 different wines and they were all okay. I wasn't wowed by any of them. Great tour, great people, great wine. We visited Holland Marsh thanks to their Groupon tour promotion last year. The winery is beautiful inside and out, and I can definitely understand why someone would want to get married here. The tour itself was very laid back, informal, and the small group size was perfect. The tour was pretty fundamental, so if you're a world renowned sommelier (or just think you are), maybe skip this part of the visit and relax with a glass or two by the fireplace. We had a great time touring the grounds and learning about wine, but our favorite part was probably the tasting (duh). We've gone on a few winery tours before and Holland Marsh was definitely one of the best. We tasted some great wines and chocolate truffles, and ended up taking home a few bottles of their reds as well. We had an amazing visit and we'll definitely be back! read more

We recently bought a GROUPON for 2 to a tour of this lovely little winery & tastings f their wines. It was a short drive out of the city (unlike the long trek to Niagara) ...and a well enjoyed scenery of green. The weather was great, just a nice wind in the air & sunshine out. We had a great time & have been telling all of our friends to pay them a visit as well!! It is a small, family run establishment that is charmingly decorated with several eco-chic inspired decor and you can tell they take their business seriously... The staf was professional, our tour guide (owner's son) was hilarious and definitely knows his stuff!! I hope they stay in business for a long time....it is too often that smaller family businesses such as this is run out by larger more commercial ones that don't produce as good of quality as they do! All of the wines we tasted were good but I especially enjoy whites. However, we also absolutely fell in love with their semi-dry red wine (aka "the white wine of reds")....neither of us were big red wine drinkers until enjoying this special vintage! It has a fruitiness like white but you can still taste the distinct skin content of a red.... Now, we can't get enough! We took a bottle home & hope to be back soon to pick up another bottle to travel with!!! Plus, their bottles arent nearly as expensive as others and taste so good!! Their shop also has nifty little gifts like plant based candles made with grape skins & scented like wines....cute wine holders, infused truffles, corks, etc. Such a great feel to the place....,loved it!! read more

I had the absolute pleasure of hitting up this hidden gem located off the beaten path of Keele in Newmarket today, and I'm thrilled to announce to the GTA that this place is legit and all our own. Imagine a fully functioning winery within a 30 minute drive of most cities/towns in the burbs!!! Having a yelper friend with a voucher for a tour today was a huge score for me and I was flattered to get the invite to be their +1 for a change (yes, CM's like to be +1's sometimes too!) Pulling up to their beautifully laid out property through the ornate iron gates and past their signage, I was impressed. Holland Marsh has all the amenities of a large vineyard on a smaller scale. Kind of like a microcosm of a Niagara vineyard. Ample parking is readily available, there is a pond with an overlooking gazebo for wedding ceremonies, and sparse forestry surrounding the property giving it an even more intimate feel. The land is rich and this young vinyard has only started to shine now as it's vines enter their 6th year of growth. The main building holds many purposes including: store front and tasting room, private party room, a wine club banquet hall (capacity of 200+) with a full bar 2nd floor seating and a dj booth - dressed top to bottom in fragrant Pine and production facilities for their 8-10 varieties of wine. Our tour guide was the son of the owner and he left no detail out throughout the tour explaining the grounds, soil, how they grew and cultivated their grapes and vines, the production process and the vision and mission of Holland Marsh Wineries. A total learning experience. Saving the best for last we are then brought back to the tasting room where we departed from initially where the tasting portion began. Our group of 5 was small and intimate and we had the opportunity to sample every one of their wines with the exception of their special reserve and the Ice wine (yes this little vineyard produces their own Ice wine). The tasting notes provided were excellent and I had a red and white fave that I had to purchase straight away. They are a small winery with limited output so you cannot purchase their wines at the LCBO, only on sight at the winery. If you have a Saturday free (or in my case a Wednesday afternoon) I fully recommend you take the trip and check it out for yourself, certainly something I feel privileged to have this close to home. read more

I wanted to have my son's baptism here . The place is a nice ideal location. But the customer service is pathetic!! Told me they can't book for August in advance and to contact them in March , so I waited until end of February. They gave me 2 weekends in August to choose from . Booked an appointment to see the place .Two days after our conversation my husband and I went in to see the place and to give them the deposit. She came out to greet us and said . "Sorry to let you know but the 2 dates that you are here to discuss were booked yesterday" ARE YOU SERIOUS! I do not believe it for a second . They are just money hungry people . They save their dates for weddings (because they make more money from it ) she said it herself . At least she would have had the courtesy to call and let us know instead of making us drive all the way there ! Horrible customer service and very rude . read more

I had an amazing experience at this winery. My boyfriend and I ended up arriving late for our wine tour due to heavy traffic on the way there. We had basically missed it, without any hesitation a tour guide named Adrianne decided that she would give us a private tour. She was funny and friendly and the winery itself was interesting and the grounds that it is on are beautiful. I would recommend this winery to everyone!!! read more

Went there with my boyfriend for a quiet wine tour after purchasing a Groupon tour for 2. The facility is decorated in a more modern rustic style, which sets a nice atmosphere. The grounds have an amazing view, and it is great that it is no more than 35minutes north on the 401 on the 400. It feels like you are tucked away in such a quiet place. The staff are super friendly, and will make you feel comfortable and welcomed. They are also quite knowledgable of their wines and their mixes, and you can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do. The wine testing is great too (missing something to bite on in-between wines, but thats alright). Our guide had us laughing for a good chunk of our time there. At the end of our tour they even gave us 2 free wine glasses and 2 truffles to take home, so sweet! Definitely recommend checking out this picturesque and friendly location. This is a special place to me. My fiancé and I have been coming to the winery for some time since we first came for a wine tasting event with Groupon. Last November we went to refill our wine supply and I had planned to pop the question. Kudos to Holland Marsh Wineries and their team for allowing us to use the grounds on this special day. We did not have a pleasant experience here. In their defense, we arrived just prior to a large group tour and they seemed to be completely focused on the tour. Because of this, the staff seemed to be less than helpful. The tasting facility is quite nice, but we did not go on the tour and cannot comment on the rest of the winery. We did not find their wines to be particularly good, you can get much better at the wineries near Stouffville, in my opinion. The prices seemed to be unreasonably high for the quality of the wine. Of course, much of this is subjective, so you may have a different experience. read more

April 29 was my son's wedding, I don't know were to begin how disappointed disgusted we all were , the staff was unprofessional, making rude remarks to our guests , we had an open bar and yet they were refusing to serve our guests, they were asking for shots they kept on telling our guests they don't serve shots. We had the venue booked until 1am , at 10 pm they started closing the bar and cleaning the place , we had order to have bottles of wine on the tables they only put one red and one white for the entire evening , our guests asked for extra bottle which we paid in advance they told our guests they have to go to the bar and get it them self's . We asked the staff four times to turn the heat down nothing happened. The bride was in tears and you can not imagine my son . This should of been a memorable day it end up to be the worst nightmare for all of us. In short they sabotage my son's wedding because we did no use their caterer. All our vendors had a hard time dealing with them as well. So to all planners out there DO NOT USE THIS VENUE IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CLIENTS TO BE UPSET. read more

I came here with my mom and brother as a birthday gift to her this weekend. We are well versed in the world of wine, having been on tours all over France (including in Champagne), Italy, and various VQA wineries and this one was lovely! The venue is really pretty and I can imagine in the summer it would be quite nice because of the patio and vineyard right outside of the event space. We came here because we live in the area, we had a Groupon, and had never been. We had no expectations because we didn't know very much about this winery but we were plesantly surprised by the tour. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable and the tour was a good length - about an hour. We got to try 6 of their wines, 3 red and 3 white and they were pretty good. I think the whites need a little more time to age because they just were very tart and young tasting, but the reds (other than a sweet red) were very good and we actually ended up buying a bottle. If you like super tart and crisp whites they do have one that had a very pretty hand-written bottle that would be a good purchase just due to how pretty the bottle is! This weekend they were having some kind of Valentine's wine and cheese pairing for a $5 upgrade and I have to say, although the pairings were done very well, I don't think that it was worth an extra fee. They gave you a very small amount of cheese that I feel they should have just included with the admission price for very little cost to them as a special perk for that weekend. The groupon also said that we got a take-home wine infused chocolate bag but we didn't get ours. Maybe they forgot? One big knock was that a young man who was working there came out of the tasting room to the front desk with his mouth full of crackers, I asked his coworker next to him a question and he answered me with his mouth full of crackers. It was so gross and not only terrible manners but inappropriate behavior for a workplace, especially in the food and beverage industry. Don't speak with your mouth full; especially not at work, to customers. read more
