We had a beautiful time at this winery in Stouffville! Such a random location but a real gem. The winery grounds are beautiful, there's an amazing patio wrapped around the building with stunning views of the winery. You truly feel like you're in wine country or even in the Italian countryside when you're here. We wanted to do a tasting and we were told to go find a seat outside and someone would be assisting us. We noticed that there was a separate area for people who pre-reserved lunch. I think it's a pre-set menu and it's catered by the McEwan company. The food coming out looked really tasty! We asked if they had a food menu as we were looking for a charcuterie board or something to snack on while tasting the wine, however they do not have a food menu unless you reserve in advance. Although this was a bit of a bummer, the server told us she would bring us some snacks for the wine tasting. As the lunch seating was taking place, the servers were quite busy however our server apologized for the wait and was really nice. We each had the 4 wine tasting flights and were able to choose 4 wines from their extensive list. I tried their sparkling wine, rose, a red and a white and they were pleasant but not the most amazing wines I've ever had. I liked the flavour profile of the rose and the sparkling was really light and crisp. The white and red were just OK for me. The server was knowledgeable and helped to offer suggestions based on my preferences. As promised, she also brought us some bowls with chips, nuts and dried fruit, and tarali. These were great for munching on as well as palate cleansers between the wines. I particularly enjoyed the ambiance of this winery. On a beautiful breezy summer day, it was absolute heaven sitting out on the patio and sampling some tasty wines. I would love to come for a meal one day however they only serve lunch at this time. We even had the owner come over and chat with us for a while to make sure we were enjoying our time. The wines in the retail portion of the winery are super reasonable, I don't think any wines were over $20. This is a nice way to support local business without breaking the bank. Overall this is a wonderful way to spend an hour or so. The flight of wine was only $10 and the wines are also inexpensive to purchase so this makes for an affordable afternoon out. I loved the views and European feel of the winery; it truly made me feel like I was far away without having to step on a plane! read more

I had high expectations for this place. We made reservations for lunch. The view was nice with all the lush greenery. Once we were seated, first thing I noticed was the dirty cutlery. The fork was sticky and had fingerprints. I had to ask the waitress to change it to a clean one. I should have taken that as a sign. Next, the menu had suggested wine pairings, so when we ordered the pasta, I went with the suggested Chardonnay. To my surprise, the waitress said they don't have one. I was going to ask why bother including the suggested pairing when it's not available, but I didn't bother. I ordered a bottle of white wine, and the server just placed it on the table and didn't even bother pouring a glass. No tasting, just left the bottle on the table, as if saying you're on your own! So we ordered the antipasto platter, the cured meats looked like the packaged cold cuts from a grocery store and the cheese didn't even include any soft cheese. Instead of crackers they served churros like bread sticks which tasted like oily sugarless donuts. We also ordered the pasta with artichokes- it was bland. Thank goodness for the Parmesan cheese that was brought to our table by mistake. The pizza was the only saving grace. It wasn't worth it, the red plastic chairs gave a cheap vibe on an otherwise classy ambiance. The servers were mostly young people who seemed clueless and were just there for a summer job. Until one of my co-workers mentioned there are wineries in Stouffville, I was completely unaware. This is a great little spot to check out - the owner is friendly, the wines of course are ones you can't get in the LCBO. The tasting fee is waived when you buy a bottle which is nice. You'll definitely get something a little different here - perfect for a gift or just for yourself. There is plenty of parking in front and the grounds/views are so nice. We just went for the tastings and didn't order any food so I can't comment on that - but i'm definitely curious to try their menu next summer. They have seating outside so you can have your meal overlooking the vineyards. Nice way to spend lunch :) read more

Gallucci Winery is close to home in Stouffville. When driving into the Country estate like setting, I was impressed. This is probably one of the nicest vineyard in the area! The Italian Courtyard from entrance is perfect as a backdrop for wedding and special occasions! Wine tasting charge is waived with purchases. So we ended up buying a bottle or 2. This is my favourite Winery in Stouffville with an awesome patio, great food, as well as frozen home made take-aways. This family run winery serves up some unique blends of wines and home cooked pastas from scratch. I perfer their cream sauce more than tomato sauce. They also have some decent pizza. The environment is very relaxing, and there is a cute Fiat at the front to take photos of. If you don't want to commit, just for a wine tasting session and see if you like it. [Good] Food - You can expect pretty good quality food for all the items on the menu. I consider this place a hidden gem for simple, well made, and tasty fare. It definitely surprised me the first time and has been pretty consistent on repeat visits. Rigatoni Rose and any of the pizzas are surefire winners. Pizzas are handmade and baked in a small oven outdoors. Wines - I'm more of a beer drinker than a wine drinker so take my judgement with a grain of salt. I like whites and they are definitely very drinkable and fruity. They pair nicely with the food offerings on the menu. Ambiance - Sit up on the raised patio overlooking the fields. It's peaceful and very enjoyable on a summer day. This is how all patio meals should feel like. [Neutral] Service - Hit and miss service. While interactions were friendly, service was extremely slow on our last visit despite there being only about 4 tables to be served. We waited at least 5 minutes for menus and even anyone to show up and only when we flagged him down. Food took maybe 30 minutes to arrive. Everything was just inattentive. This place is casual but I felt like maybe because we just came from a morning hike and weren't dressed as nice that we got a bit of the cold shoulder. On previous visits, no issues. I must say that we are fortunate to have a lovely winery right in our own area rather than having to travel to Niagara and I quite enjoy going there. A group of us were just there a few days ago, and there were a few minor details that I felt should be addressed. We were there at 2 pm and many of the items on the menu were not available....couple of wines and desserts. I understand that items run out but it's not like it was the end of the day. Also, I'm going to make a strong suggestion that some protein is added to their repertoire! There's an abundance of carbs and these days everyone is trying to watch their intake! Went on the weekend for a tour and wine and cheese tasting. The tour was mediocre - have had better. The information given was minimal, and the lady doing the tour couldn't answer the question as to when the grapes were picked for ice wine. Since they are pushing their ice wine, this should be known. We were however given a lot of information about the owners' families and what other businesses they are into or planning on doing. For the wine tasting the group was placed on a table on the front porch. It was cold as it was later in the evening and facing east, so no sun. The amount of wine given per tasting was minimal - it was suppose to be 1 oz per glass, however, it got less as the serving went along. You could barely taste the wine before it was finished. It would also have been nice for someone to actually be present when we are tasting to explain the wine or answer questions. Instead, we got a quick spiel before the wine was poured, and then the server disappeared until the next wine was to be served. With the 4 wines tasted, it probably equaled to less than a glass of wine. The cheese quality was basic. Really just small pieces of cheese, some seemed to have been cut and sitting for awhile, as the outside was dry. Other tastings I have been to, gives 1/2 glass per tasting and give crackers or bread along with the cheese. The wine tasted were also just OK. Nothing stood out as being excellent. The property was beautiful however. They have some beautiful huge ducks on the home's property. It would be a beautiful setting for a wedding, minus the drawback of Ninth Line being adjacent to the gazebo. This is a young winery, only 2 years in production, so some more time probably needs to be under their belts. read more

I just got back from the most enjoyable and delicious lunch at Galluci Winery in Stouffville.This restaurant is truly a hidden gem and worth the short drive from Newmarket.The owner and waitstaff were pleasant friendly and attentive. The food was delicious fresh and the portions were huge. Tuscany in Stouffville? Whaat? I have been to Gallucci's several times now and I must say it is delightful. They do not churn fake food out and for that reason you can not be in a rush to eat here and enjoy the full ambiance of this Estate property. Embrace. Eat. Enjoy. I ate there today with a party of 5 and it was just lovely. We relaxed with some fine wine, ordered a deli platter and various salads and paninis. We ate outside overlooking the vineyard which was in its early stages. It is not a fast food place nor do they claim to serve a lovely meal in less than 30 minutes. If you truly love food and hanging with friends or going on a date I would suggest this place. I must say the tartufo is a very refreshing dessert choice.You can even pop by to grab a bottle of their award winning wine. It was so windy outside, we asked to sit indoors and they said not available today since the weather is nice...out cups, menus, sunglasses, hats, napkins and etc kept blowing away....my family and I were having a discussion amongst ourselves when the owner rudely interrupted us and said he's not in control of the weather and was so condescending and rude. A group of us traveled to Gallucci on a winery bus tour of the Toronto area. They weren't ready for us when we arrived, so we had to stand outside in the burning sun for almost 30 minutes.Then, the winery tour involved looking at their storage room, some kind of shed that they "might turn into a gelato stand," and their walk-in refrigerator. When we finally got to taste the wine, they poured the teeniest, tiniest little sips. I've never been to a wine tasting that was so chintzy. When one of my friends asked if she could have a slightly larger pour, the employee rolled her eyes and dripped a couple more drops into her glass. We weren't there to get loaded, but when you go to a wine tasting, you want to actually taste the wine. How do they expect to sell any bottles of wine when they won't let you take more than a little sip? Even though they sell fine cheeses in their shop, the free cheese pairings they offered were literally just blocks of supermarket cheese. One of my friends got scolded for trying to taste a piece before they poured the wine. It's a shame because the wines we tried were actually pretty good. But the experience was frustrating, to say the least. read more

We had a very large group tour the winery. The tour guide did a good job showing us around. Most of the tour consisted of random facts about the owner, but it did also go over the production and distribution of the product. If you want to see a large scale winery with large vats and loads of barrels, this is not the place to go. Instead, this is more like a microwinery. Currently they are producing around 10K bottles/year, so its really quite small. There are plans for expansion though so you may see Gallucci stocked at lcbo in the near future! The property is very nice and only opened to the public a couple years ago. The store space is beautiful and modern. There is also a bistro on the property that serves food made with ingredients grown in their own green house. I will definitely need to return for that!! As stressed during the tour, the grapes are still very young. This means that they have not unleashed their full potential yet. I believe the first vines were planted less than 10 years ago. I can't comment too much on the wines as I dont remember it too well but I can say that they were not bad at all...its not that I was drunk, its just that I have delayed writing this review. My favourite from the tasting, however, was the baco noir. All in all, we tasted two whites, two reds and an ice wine. Along with each wine, a fellow walked around and served us a cheese he recommended for pairing. I am convinced however that the cheese was from the local walmart. Considering the fact that we were the largest group they have ever served, I was very happy. They did run out of wine a couple times when pouring though and this once resulted in some members of the group tasting a substition ice wine. Additionally, the pours were inconsistent. Some people kept getting large pours while others barely had a two sips. At ~$20pp (26 people) I would have expected them to bring out enough wine for all of us! In the store, bottles are fairly priced in the range of $15-20 and ice wines are around $50 as usual. I was pleasantly surpised about the prices because I was expecting a premium due to the size of the winery. 3 stars because it was GOOD WINE, the employees are kind and this was a first for them in terms of size. Missing a couple stars because pours were tiny and cheese was not really that amazing. I will update this review in the near future when I get a chance to taste the food! read more

Went to the winery for lunch and was pointed to a table outside where we could sit. Nobody showed us where it was. The table was not clean. We wanted to order a cheese board first and our mains later but were told wouldn't so we ended up with way too much food. That included a burnt pizza and bland pasta. Came here this afternoon for some wine tasting and maybe a meat and cheese board with a bottle of wine. We were greeted in Italian by the owners mother who was visiting from Italy. The owner over saw the wine tasting. No small talk and he offered no information about the wines we were tasting or the grapes the wines were made with. TL;DR: Waitress was very hostile, were made to relocate halfway through meal to outdoor space in the cold to accommodate for other guests (we had a reservation), forgotten about multiple times/ hinted at to leave, conveniently the only people of colour there and only people who were treated like this. We called in to reserve a table the day before for a group of friends, we were told to come on time as it was busy. We came in early not wanting to lose the reservation, the waitress was rushing us as she took us to our tables, and was not welcoming. She was very impatient as she took our orders and as she came by to check up on us. When we asked to order dessert she asked us if we were going to leave as she needed the table. So she escorted us outside, telling us the weather was just fine. She did not set a table at the outdoor patio for us and it was freezing cold on the contrary to what she said. We waited 20 minutes outside, but could no longer tolerate the cold so we went back inside infuriated ready to pay for the bill. At this point the waitress walked up to us asking if we wanted the bill completely neglecting that we ordered dessert which indicated to us that she completely forgot about us and would have left us out in the cold had we not come in. We felt extremely neglected, disrespected and unwanted which ruined what was supposed to be an exciting experience. We did notice that we were the only group asked to eat outside which we couldn't help but wonder if it was due to our skin tone, as we were the only POC there at that time.The food was great and the location was beautiful but the service from this waitress completely took away from the experience. read more

This is my first YELP review and even before going to this place, owner seemed nice until I told him that I was going to use a Travelzoo voucher at it's face value (not promotional value) and he said he would not honour it. I made it clear that I wasn't expecting the promotional value, just the money I had already paid and he refused. Travelzoo's promotion does state that merchants must by law accept it at face value. We were not pleased with the quality of services we received for the Mother's Day Dinner yesterday. Between the 1st main that was served and the last was a 15 minute gap. And our young son who had the easiest thing (plain pasta) was 2nd last. The wait staff (especially the goof in the black shorts with the beard) were completely unprofessional. Eating while serving, no organization, we kept having to ask for items that you'd expect would be on the table. The other patrons were constantly causing some of my party to be uncomfortable. Walking around the dining area (in some cases within 3 feet of my plate) staring at our food and us. Additionally it was a very disruptive meal as the younger children in those parties were running in and out of the dining hall. The quality and taste of the food was the only thing that was somewhat ok in the experience. However for $25 a chicken breast, 3 asparagus spears and a few baby potatoes seems high. read more

There were slots on the website to choose the date and time of your preferred tour. We have not been to this neck of the woods before and so we were one hour early for our 2pm scheduled tour. We then decided to drive around the neighbourhood and grab a snack then headed back. As we walked in to this empty winery that had opened in 2014, we had to wait awhile for someone to show up at the reception area, then finally, we check-in. To our surprise, the one staff said there was no tour for us because it was full, when we questioned how it could be full when we were the only ones in the building? He then changed his mind and told us the truth that due to lack of public interest there was only two of us therefore no tour and that we were notified by emailed already. (We had not receive any emails). Our blackberries were glue to our hips, we would know!...now because he had already lied about a full tour, there was no reason to believe they even bothered to notify us. At this point he said we can come back at 4pm and they will tour us. There was no apology, no offer of samples to try their product so that even without the tour, I may still purchase their wines but instead he went off to serve some couple that was eating in the patio, I guess they were paying customers and we were only potential customers. What a waste of our time!! We ended up driving to another winery nearby that had good reviews called Willow Springs Winery. Their staff greeted us as we walked through their doors, very knowledgeable and had free samples on ice wine and wine. I ended up spending over $300 there. Tough luck to this Gallucci Winery who didn't care for our business. read more

The Gallucci Winery is a lovely spot. I came here for lunch and had a wonderful experience. I ordered the patate focaccia, which was very tasty. The prices were extremely reasonable and the staff were helpful and friendly. I was also able to get a free sample of their homemade wine jellies. I loved it so much, I bought a jar to take home. I think the Gallucci Winery would be a very good place for a romantic date or for any occasion, and it is not too far from Toronto, which makes it convenient for those not wanting to drive too far out of the city. The experience was frustrating, to say the least. If you want to feel ignored and patronized then Gallucci winery is the place to go. I travelled all the way to this winery with a friend after making a reservation with Antonio on the phone the day before for a 4:00 p.m. tour the following day. Their website advises that reservations are required for a tour. However, the website neglects to let you know that you will also need to make a reservation if you would like to to eat. We arrived at 2:15 p.m. so that we could enjoy a light lunch before our tour. When we walked into the winery we were not greeted and left to stand in the middle of the shop while Antonio entertained three women tasting wine. We did not want to interrupt so we browsed the one display of condiments available for purchase. After 10 minutes of standing there with still no acknowledgement we thought we would walk out to the back patio on our own so we could ask a waiter to be seated for lunch. When we did ask a waiter, Antonio yelled out to us from his throne behind the bar "we are not a restaurant; you need to make a reservation because we make everything fresh. That was the extent of our greeting. We stood there for a few minutes feeling very disappointed. After arriving at 2:15 p.m., being ignored for 20 minutes, venturing out own our own to the back patio and then being told you can't eat here it was now 3:00 p.m. We decided we would quickly drive somewhere to grab something quick to eat before our tour. Before we left, I gave him my name and asked him to confirm our reservation for a 4:00 p.m. wine tour that day. He confirmed that we were on his list for that day. We returned to the winery at 3:50 p.m. to be once again ignored for 10 minutes. Antonio finally acknowledges our presence by nudging a waiter standing next to him and saying to him "you are doing a tour today". Antonio then turns his back to us. The waiter looks surprised and disengaged and rolls his eyes. We are left standing there....Antonio says nothing to us.....the waiter says nothing to us. So, we venture to the back patio and sit a table and wait. The time now is 4:10 p.m. and nobody has come to get us for a tour. We decide it is time to end our nightmare and just go home. But, not be before I tell Antonio what I think. I went back into the shop and told him that I would not recommend his winter to anyone and that he was very rude and so unwelcoming to his guests. His response - "What do you mean? I told you we are not a restaurant - what do you want from me?..... I asked you if you wanted water". There was no apology. read more

Relatively new winery just north of Toronto. The wines are pretty good (especially the Don Paulo, highly recommended!) but the tasting area is quite small although it has never been crowded when we were there. If Antonio is there, you're in luck...he is a fount of knowledge regarding the wines. I'm not comfortable saying the the other staff are not knowledgeable but certainly there is a significant gap between Antonio and the regular staff. They have a small patio in the back but we have not tried their food. The wines are priced reasonably. Overall, quite an enjoyable experience! read more
