My mom was there for 2 weeks, and they were so attentive, kind, compassionate. Kept her comfortable, clean/bathe, checking on her every hour, turning her. The nurses and staff were very welcoming of our family coming to visit, my brother and I, plus our significant others spent days with my mom and we never felt unwelcome, they checked on us as much as they checked on my mom. On my mom's second to last day her family came to visit her, about 20 people, some in the room with her some out in the living areas, we were as comfortable as if it was our own home. It was truly a full circle care. I'm forever going to be grateful to Parkway hospice home and Sharp for making my mom's last moments as comfortable as they can be, under the circumstances.

My father-in-law was admitted to Parkview Hospice home on June 8th after one week at Sharp Memorial…read moreand 5 days at Arbor Hills Nursing. It was clear he was near the end of his life and my wife and I believed he would not live even through that first night. I will highlight individuals in a moment but everyone who was involved with dad's care was absolutely amazing! It takes a special person not just to care for the terminally ill but be compassionate and kind every step of the way. Briefly, Parkview is a large home in a normal neighborhood in Del Cerro (a community across the freeway from SDSU). Their maximum patient load is 4! Even in the middle of the night there are 3 staff members (nurses and a homemaker) to look after their patients needs -- more during the day. The home is impeccably clean and you can visit your loved one 24/7. There was a fold out in dad's room and we could have spent the night if we wanted to. When they saw the stress my wife and I were facing watching her dad's decline, their care and compassion extended to us too. Dad wanted to die at home but circumstances beyond control prevented us from making that so. The care he received was much more extensive than he would have received in his own home. We made it clear we didn't want dad to suffer and they stayed on top of his pain medications and performed regular turning to prevent bed sores. On dad's first full day at Parkview, I noticed a Navy cap on the daily volunteer Gilbert. I mentioned that my father-in-law had served in the Navy and before that day was out, Gil had set up a small ceremony where he presented a US flag that had flown on the USS Midway just the day before. It was a very emotional moment. The nursing staff on dad's team (Toni, Malia, Heidi and Mitch) were not just professional, they showed a degree of compassion and kindness my wife and I could not have expected. I don't know where they find the strength to help their patients through their end of life week in and out. They are simply amazing human beings. Dr. Verma (the onsite doctor) spend a long time with my wife and I the first day getting dad's health history and helping us understand what was happening at that moment. A social worker is also part of the team and Richard visited us several times during dad's 8 days at Parkview. His social work had more to do with us and he continues to council us now that dad has passed. Soloman is the Chaplin at Parkview and he prayed with dad to help comfort his transition. Parkview is part of Sharp Memorial and has three such homes in the San Diego area. If you or a loved one ever needs hospice care, it is my humble and firm conviction you could not find better care and compassion than with Parkview and the Sharp Grossmont Hospice team.

I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you want your loved one drugged up and starved…read moreuntil death. One star is more than they deserve. My father was taken there by his wife and he was only supposed to be there 5 days due to a plumbing problem at home. As soon as he was admitted his meds were changed so I called the doctor in charge. She called me back and explained that he was only being re-accessed because he was bedridden and needed lower amounts of medication. She assured me that this would help him so that he could feel better by the time he went home. The next day he stopped eating (was eating soft foods and liquids at home) and he was unable to speak coherently or even sty awake. This was very alarming since I lived out of town, When I left a message to speak to the doctor, they said I was not on the list of people she could talk to about him and she never returned the call. My step mother assured me that she would have the social worker call me and that they were going to keep him there longer. She never called that day but the next afternoon a nurse or caregiver called me to say that he would die in the next week and that he wasn't eating. I was very upset to say the least. The hospital he was in the month before had given him 6 months to live. Two days later I was alerted that he had died. An hour later the social worker called and left me a message about how she was sorry about my loss but they were there if I needed help with my grief. They would be the last people I would call about my grief, My dad wanted to be at home in his last days, but they took that away from him.

Justin was the nurse that admitted her, he got her changed out of the hospital gown and into a nightgown they provide. He also answered all of my questions and was a huge help. I was staying the night when my Mom took her last breath and the nurses were Kelly and Kat. Kat checked on my Mom basically every 15 mins making sure she wasn't in pain, answering all of my crazy questions and being a calming presence. Don't trust the Yelp score, I would recommend this place every day of the week.

100% RECOMMEND If…read moreyou are looking for Hospice care for a loved one, I highly recommend Apreva. My family needed Hospice carer for my mother and we had no idea how the process worked and needed to rely on someone to explain to us about Hospice and what it entailed. This is a very stressful decision to make for our loved one, but Apreva quickly eased our concerns and uncertainty. From the first contact on the phone to the last contact I can't say enough about the incredible team that cared for my mom. Dr Danque was professional, compassionate and was always available when needed. Initially Dr. Danque came to the house and explained the process and what to expect. She answered all our questions and we stayed until all our questions were answered and we never felt she was in a hurry. RN Kaylyn is an absolute ANGEL! She was the main RN caregiver for my mom for almost a year. Kaylyn was available for my 80 year old Dad who was by my mom's side the entire time. He would contact Kaylyn any time he had a question or concern about my mom. As my mom declined, her medications needed to be changed due to increased pain and phycological issues and Kaylyn was always there to help treat my mom and was a personal sounding board for my dad. Kaylyn has become a member of our family!! Kaylyn's compassion, empathy and knowledge made a difficult time on our lives much better. Knowing if we had a question we could contact Kaylyn was such a relief. And if Kaylyn was not available, Apreva is available 24 hours. There were several times we needed help late at night and during weekends and Apreva promptly sent nurses and/or Doctors to our home. The entire Apreva Hospice provided outstanding service and care to my mom and our family. Apreva offers many services and their help does not end after your loved one passes. They are still there to offer assistance like grief counseling, etc. We NEVER had a problem with supplies needed or medications as others claim in their reviews. We always had supplies needed. ie disposable absorbent pads etc. And if we ever needed something, RN Kaylyn would make sure we would get more. SINCERELY THANK YOU RN Kaylyn!!!!

Pat was so kind and helpful coordinating my dad's transition from the hospital to my home. Katie, and the team of RN's, ensured we were prepared and educated to meet his needs in his final days. Upon his passing, the Apreva staff assisted us with coordinating the mortuary pick-up and provided us with bereavement counseling. We were very grateful to have such a professional and compassionate team supporting us during this delicate time for our family.
