Absolutely Bad Communication! I had enrolled my mother to this agency but I then called to hold on to any supplies to be delivered until further notice. They did not communicate this to the truck driver and items got delivered to my house. I called them to let them know their missed communication, they told me I would get a call back to let me know the items would be picked up and never did. I revoked the enrollment. From beginning to end our experience with Elizabeth Hospice was excellent, thorough, expedient, and caring. We felt supported all the way through while our mother was brought home from the hospital to her last days. They not only took care of our mother, but our family as well and continue to do so through aftercare. From onboarding, Betty, RN to Horizon's medical equipment company, home delivery pharmacy staff, 24 hour call care, to Tessa our on-site nurse everyone was exceptional. Wings of Hope was a wonderful event put on bt the Elizabeth Hospice....I have been going almost every year, since my husband passed away. Some family members came with me.....They do a ceremony inside the Center for the Arts.....then everyone goes outside, gets a butterfly.....they had tables set up with plants...with some watermelon ...because butterflies like watermelon...and we let our butterflies go free. My family said this year was the best! Great event! read more

My step dad passed away in March of 2023 and during his time at the hospital, we worked with Elizabeth Hospice. I cannot say enough positive things about the interactions we had with our team. Everyone was phenomenal. He was in a coma but they always treated him like a person and were gentle and kind to him. With us, they always asked us for stories about him and shared in our laughter and tears. The experience never felt clinical. After he passed, they checked in on my mom over the course of the first year regularly. They provided information on counseling/grief groups/events as well. We have participated in the Wings of Hope event twice now & it holds even more meaning since the date of the even falls around my mom & step dad's wedding anniversary. It is weird to be enthusiastic about a hospice organization but I truly am. We were heavily supported during my step dad's stay at the hospital but even more so after he passed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE - THEY PROFIT OFF OF DEATH This place tried to keep my mom as medicated with morphine as humanly possible until she'd eventually die. My mom fell twice and broke her hand and arm. Elizabeth initially declined to do anything about it. The head nurse said, "Well, you know, she's dying anyway". I fired Elizabeth and took my mom to a hospital to detox and get her hand and arm put in a cast. My mom detoxed for 8 days, throwing up and shaking. From there, she spent months in rehab reconditioning her body, which became too weak to walk because of being in bed for so long. We believed Elizabeth. We believed she was dying. She wasn't dying. They accepted her as a client with one look on her face via Facetime. One of the CNA's would come over, sit in my mom's room and make phone calls, sometimes, she'd fall asleep in the chair next to my mom's bd, she was loud and disruptive and when asked to "keep it down" she'd get offended. The medications were hit-and-miss. What a mess. My mom is now healthy and doing very well. She walks around, is productive, makes jokes, tells stories, is helpful to others, enjoys art, is spry, thoughtful, loving, and gives her time and wisdom--a ray of sunshine. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE - THEY PROFIT OFF THE DYING. THEY OVER-MEDICATE. They should be shut down. read more

I availed myself of grief counseling offered there. All was well for 2 sessions and then nothing. I was supposed to receive a call regarding some zoom groups and to schedule another appointment. I left a voicemail and sent an email to the with no response. I have never been ghosted by a therapist before and don't think it is very professional. Called the main number again and spoke to someone who was going to get "right back to me" and still haven't heard. I don't have the energy to pursue this any further. Bereavement is difficult enough without added stress from an organization that is supposed to provide comfort. read more

We have been using Elizabeth Hospice for the past 4.5 months for my husband who has a stage 4 Glioblastoma tumor (brain cancer). As you might imagine this has been an extremely difficult time for my family. I had always been told that having hospice support was very helpful when going through such a traumatic ordeal. However unfortunately we haven't had that experience with Elizabeth Hospice. The individual nurses that have come out have been helpful for the most part but it's often a different person each week as they seem very understaffed. So there is no consistency of care from one visit to the next. We met with a social worker once when my husband first went on hospice and didn't hear from anyone after that. Four months later I finally had to call them back to set up another appointment. But the most frustrating issue is that they tell you to call the 24 hour number whenever you need to. We haven't really had to up until recently when my husband's condition started to dramatically deteriorate. Every time we have had to call the after hours number they have been extremely unhelpful and almost seem like we are annoying them. This is a scary time for my family and me and we are looking for guidance on what to do as my husband has been experiencing a lot of agitation. Mostly what the response has been is a lackadaisical and unsympathetic attitude over the phone which has been extremely disappointing. I was hoping that hospice would be a helpful support during this extremely stressful time but unfortunately that is not what my family and I have been experiencing. If anything this has sadly been causing us more stress. read more

This review is for their sewing volunteer program. I was referred by a friend who told me about the Elizabeth Hospice's grief support programs for children and adults and sewing volunteer program after a loved one unexpectedly passed away. I have not participated in their grief support groups yet but I had 2 teddy bears and one pillow made out of our loved one's old clothes. They provide one pillow and teddy bear complimentary to any San Diego resident who has lost a loved one. Any additional pillow or teddy bear is just $25. We dropped off the clothes and received our items within one month. I found some other private companies who charge $95 for a teddy bear which I thought was excessive. Cindy is the point person to talk to. She is only in the office a few days a week. Their phone number is (760) 294-5864. My children love their teddy bears and I'm so grateful for this program. I extend my thank you for the bereavement group that supported me when my daughter passed in 91 i had no help for my grieving. then in the late 90s it hit me hard emotionally i went to st Elisabeth hospice for help with my grieving and boy did it hit me hard.... eventually i went through the training program you offered for care giving to others in need after a year i moved to Redding ca and went also throught their training program and became a bereavement volunteer for 12 plus years helping family's spouses and siblings through their grieving and also helped with the group for parents that lost children.... The Elizabeth Hospice is a medical organization which includes nurses, doctors, social workers, snd spiritual professionals. Together this group helps to guide families that are going through a situation of a loved one that has chosen to pass away at home. So many people misunderstand the word Hospice think that organizations like this only support death. I can honestly say that this is untrue. Hospice is a place where a loved one and their family or friends are together to support the individual that is ill, there is constant support. Going to Hospice is a beautiful choice to go through as your loved one is fully comforted so they're not suffering in so much pain. I have had two parents that went through Hospice because they have chosen to pass away at home and each time it has been very peaceful. Transitioning from life to death can be hard for many but one thing to always remember is that you would always want your love one to go through the transition, very painless and peaceful. If families are unable to handle this or friends are unable to handle this for their loved ones, this is when a death doula (a death doula is a person that comes in and plays, soft music, or read to the person that is passing, and makes the environment very comfortable) is able to come in and help with the surrounding environment not only for the loved one, but the family and friends that are there. The Elizabeth Hospice is a wonderful organization and I highly recommend them. read more

STAY AWAY! We cannot say enough bad things. Our 9-year old suffered greatly, then died, mid-February of 2025, wrongfully, an autopsy has shown, at the neglectful hands of Elizabeth Hospice, notably, Dr Bonnie Davis, as well as several nurses. Fall of 2024. our daughter was approved for concurrent care, pursuing a cure for her brain cancer (via Rady) but also approved for palliative care, expanding the clinic to the home. Who would say no to that? We should have. Elizabeth made mistake after mistake starting day 1 in early November 2024, so we barely let them in the house. From the start, an NG tube to help with swallowing was an agreed upon consideration. Dr Davis told us it could be done in home. In early January 2025 a new course recommended by AI, predicting rapid response, was started. The week of February 12, our daughter showed improvements. But the taste of meds was bothering her and our long-time fear was aspiration which can lead to pneumonia/death. On 2/12/25 I left a voicemail/texted Dr Davis bout the NG tube. No response. On 2/14/25, I texted Davis aggressively. She called, denying it. Later that evening, our daughter aspirated. On 2/15, her lungs turned crackly, pneumonia. For the next 12-18 hours Elizabeth sent nurses. Our daughter battled. On the night of 2/16 - 2/17, we caught the night nurse sleeping 5-times. Day of 2/17, saw improvements but that night a new nurse came, doing the bare minimum. I put a cold cloth on our daughter's head after midnight. I woke up early in the AM on 2/18, it was dry and warm. The nurse gave her no relief or comfort measures. Fever, was back, and we lost ground, declines. Then we learn, not only is an infusion med going to run out, we now had to ration (more declines started as soon as we did) but also that the flow was not adjusted properly on 2/17. Dr Davis arrived and revealed her hand, telling us our daughter, "has been trying to die for weeks." There it is, why she denied NG tube. She condemned her to death, decided for us, and for our daughter. She said this 5-ft from her and "hearing goes last." I demanded she leave several times, she refused. While this was going on, I called the CEO but got the COO. "You wanted the NG tube!" she passionately said. While on the phone, our daughter declined greatly, and soon passed away. The next day, in a conversation with the COO and CMO, he said, "humor us, put in the NG tube." They told us they'd do a very thorough internal investigation, led by their Director of Quality. We provided a mountain of details/notes, and they took almost 2-months "to complete." In early April 2025, they presented their findings. It was corporate lip service/CYA. We spent more time on the call with me correcting their investigation than them presenting. I emailed the CEO, Sarah McSpadden, as she sent me her card via the COO, that it was insufficient, incomplete, and incorrect. No reply. It is now radio silence from the entire company. Many grieving families don't know, but must know, the recourse available. Medical Board for the Dr, Nurse Board for the nurses, Department of Public Health for the company. Also, civil court, an autopsy helps with, as well as court of public opinion, the media. Local media is good, but national, much better. The people have a right to know. Also, criminal charges, at least for us, are not possible though, we checked. read more

Initially I was thrilled with the idea of hospice for my mom. They sell such a great package. First thing I noticed was different nurses every week, which was different than what they had told us. As the weeks went by, I noticed something was wrong. I was initially told not to take her to urgent care or call 911, as this would stop the Hospice program. I was told that with any and all issues, I was to contact only them. So I called to advice that my mother might have a possible UTI and that she wasn't urinating at all. They sent a nurse to install a catheter. This nurse supposedly had worked in "urology" so I hope he new what he was doing. After he left, I realized he hadn't said if they would sample her urine to find out what she had; would she be getting antibiotics; when would they come back to check on the catheter? So much for the expert nurse. I had to call to find out. They did eventually send antibiotic pills - without even knowing what she had. By this time the infection was such that she was achy and miserable and unable to drink large amounts of water with the pills. I later found out that they could have administered the antibiotics via IV, which would have worked much faster and also hydrated her. This may not have prolonged her life, but it would have avoided the anguish she felt due to the infection. Elizabeth Hospice saw fit to just drug her to sleep. With no hydration (intravenously) and no drinking or eating, because she was knocked out from the morphine, she basically dehydrated and starved to death. Palliative care? I don't think so. Basically, they hurried her death along. The last doctor who came to see her (we'll call him Dr. P), hugged me goodbye - in retrospect, it was the kiss of Judas. He knew very well what he was doing. Elizabeth Hospice is just a business, and it's run that way. They provided lots of stuff - compliments of Medicare. However, the one thing they failed to provide was "good" care, compassionate care, care to afford sick people dignity in death. After my mother passed, one of their social workers called me to give her condolences and said: "wow, that was fast - maybe it was God's plan". No, it was Elizabeth Hospice who planned it all too well. I was referred to them by her UCSD doctor. I did not read the reviews until now. I trusted him and I trusted Elizabeth Hospice. Had I read the reviews, maybe my mother would still be breathing. Had I taken her to urgent care, maybe she would have had a more peaceful death. Read some of the other reviews, I am not alone in my disappointment. UPDATE: November 4 2023 - Just received Mom's death certificate in the mail. Elizabeth Hospice did it again. Cause of death is wrong - but hey, anything to cover their rear and wash their hands of blatant negligence. The nightmare this organization bestowed on us cannot be described. Do your research before entrusting a loved one into their care. read more

My mother in law needed help with my father in law after he started going down hill after heart surgery. My MIL was determined to take care of him & when it became evident that taking care of him was going to be too much she became overwhelmed. I call Elizabeth Hospice on Saturday & we set up an appointment for Monday. The nurse came to the house & took care of all the information. They got an adjustable bed out to the house in just 2 hours. Once that was set up my FIL was so much more comfortable. He had become agitated & incoherent & having the bed helped position him so he could be feed & bathed easier. Just that helped him breath easier, relax & gain some strength & that evening he became aware of who was around him & asked what had happened. My FIL & MIL were able to talk & let him know what had happened & what was going on. He was awake & he knew he was dying. The whole family was able to spend a little bit of time with him before he passed 2 days later. My FIL was a wonderful man & Elizabeth Hospice allowed him to have time with his family before he passed. He had been so panicked in their normal bed because it had no support or possible way for him to sit up to eat. The bed gave home dignity & the feeling of comfort in he's last days. The nurses, Dr, the gentlemen who brought the bed & help him get into it & the way everything was handled was so professional, gentle & honesty caring it was amazing. I can't thank them enough for everything they did so quickly & taking a huge burden off the family. read more

My father passed in January 2023, the only time I saw E H was when they needed my signature to get paid. My father passed away, alone. When I was called by them hospital that he had passed I asked for them to reach out to hospice for support. No one came. I sat with my father alone for hours and they never showed. I have since been called by hospice to offer bereavement counseling support. I took them up on their offer twice and NEVER got a return call. I've no doubt they are a great help to some but they were useless to us. read more

For the last 14 months, my father was on hospice at home with Elizabeth Hospice. Every staff member that came to the home throughout that time was wonderful and kind. They were very helpful when I needed FMLA papers signed for my work or when I had questions. They offered me free grief counseling and the service was beneficial. I'm writing this because I had a hard time knowing which hospice to choose initially. I'm so grateful and glad that we chose Elizabeth. My father is currently in hospice care, and I researched a lot of providers before settling on Elizabeth Hospice. I couldn't be more pleased with everyone who has come through our home. Initially we saw quite a few people as they were assessing and introducing themselves. Since then it's settled down to a weekly visit from a Home Health Aide and nurse, at my dad's request. With vacations and schedules, we sometimes get someone new, but everyone has been so helpful, kind, supportive, attentive, professional, never rushed and understanding. My name is Christine and I am a very seasoned caregiver. This was the worst experience with a hospice company. I will never refer Elizabeth Hospice. I have done at least 15 hospice cases with various companies. They made so many documented errors and not once did a higher up manager or owner reach out nor, correct their wrongs. If it were not for my knowledge and experience with hospice this family would not have had direction and known what to do. I had to set them up and guide them on what to do. They had no plan for meds or what to do when the pain sets in since, patient had med allergies. I had to tell them to get a bed in and what supplies to order and request more caregivers. Things progressed and a plan was implemented too late and client suffered before they passed. Husband had to endure so much pain watching his wife suffer. Just to have them step up in last 24 hours and disrespect the only person who assisted this family. I will never refer clients to Elizabeth Hospice, and only refer to INTERIM HOSPICE as they are so thorough and shown me how Hospice should work. Do not use Elizabeth hospice for your loved ones last experience here on earth. I am writing this because this was so upsetting to see hospice let this family down. In the end I'm glad I was there with her. This place owes the family a formal apology from the owner. I also, know owners of placement agencies and home health care agencies. I shared my experience with them and asked them to refer to INTERIM HOSPICE from here on. Last, I went in on 4/11 to the corporate office and asked the lady up in front- What is the complaint process? Who licenses hospice agencies? She said, I don't know. I said, do you have paperwork for this process? She replied, not sure. I asked if there was a manager? She said, there is no one in office. I said, then how do I find out..... GOOGLE IT! My father was with Elizabeth Hospice for 4 days before passing. Our experience was extremely disappointing. They are not hands on, nor do they spend any more time than absolutely necessary assisting with care. You will be given a list of symptoms and a bag of emergency meds. Then good luck dealing with the impending death of your loved one on your own. I had to call their nurse line 3 times and it usually takes at least 1-2 hours before someone arrives. At 4:30am the morning my father passed, a nurse came and said his lungs sounded clear and he ¨could be transitioning" He was in distress ans trying to vomit up a dark fluid. I asked her to please help him and she just sat and typed notes on computer coldly. She left the house saying he seemed comfortable and lungs clear. 5 hours later he passed. He was vomiting the same fluid she ignored. During his last hour I called them in desperation for someone to come help. It took an hour and by then too late. The nurse who came at 4:30 am should have stayed with us and taken more time to assess. I got the impression this hospice is all business, cold, and will not assist families when they need them the most as they are just too busy. Despite many positive reviews, I urge you to stay clear of The Elizabeth Hospice. I will be permanently scarred by having to handle my fathers symptoms and death without any trained nurse in the room. read more

Having had previous experience with hospice for other family members, I can say I am extremely disappointed in the services and actions that were to take place with this hospice. There is a serious miscommunication or no communication with the employees and staff at this hospice. After finding The process to be quite stressful and that one person didn't speak to the other person to arrange a smooth transition, I immediately fired them and hired a hospice that had high recommendations and a good track record. I can remember this hospice, a decade ago, as being the best around. But that is not the case anymore. It is mismanaged, and the emphasis should be on the palliative care of the patient AND their family at ALL TIMES! read more

This review is overdue, my family used Elizabeth in Feb. 2021 for my Grandma. Bottom line, avoid using this company as your hospice provider. We should have read the bad reviews. We were extremely disappointed in their services in terms of care for my Grandma and support for my family. *This is a long review* We understand due to COVID things take longer than usual. However, there were many things that went wrong or not to our liking throughout our time caring for my Grandma. One of the main reasons for this was due to a severe lack of communication with their own staff and with our family, a few of the highlights are below: 1. My Grandma was moved to her home to start hospice care on a Friday afternoon. We were told a nurse would meet the transport for an initial assessment/ provide instructions. The nurse came about 30 minutes after the transport arrived. She began her assessment, about 30 min. later, a second nurse came to help. The second nurse was at the door discussing her meds, while the initial nurse was in my Grandma's room for the assessment. This caused a situation where my family was split between the 2 nurses and we could not hear all of the information together. This was probably done to save time as it was towards the end of the day so they could leave quicker. It would've been better if both nurses were in the same room so we all could hear the same info. Obviously this did not leave a good first impression. 2. The assessment nurse stated she would do a skin-check, but since we were split between the nurses, I wasn't in the room the whole time so I'm not sure if she actually did it. If she did, she missed a few major points: - My Grandma's skin was very fragile and she had a bed sore on her tailbone covered by a special bandage from the hospital. One of the assessment nurses' job was to order the right wound care supplies, unfortunately she ordered the wrong type of bandage and it took extra time to receive the right one in the mail. We had to makeshift bandages with the limited supplies we had. We even had to confirm with their main hotline that the supplies were coming at all. - They missed the 4 stitches in her head even though it was stated in her discharge papers. We had to remind the case nurse that they needed to be removed. - They also didn't notice a bandaid that was on her shoulder that the hospital placed on her to cover a small wound. Unfortunately because it was not removed in a timely manner, it turned into an open wound that never healed. 3. We were told when she was in the hospital that when she arrived at home, a case nurse would come to check on her after the initial assessment. Elizabeth did not tell us when they were coming and we had to call multiple times to confirm. They told us that because she was moved on a Fri. late afternoon and our case nurse only works Mon-Fri, that it would be too late for someone to come. They initially stated on Fri. our case nurse would come next Mon. We called back on Sat. to confirm, but they said due to scheduling issues the case nurse wouldn't be able to come until Tues. We had to call back one more time as we requested the nurse to come to see her, since we persisted, they eventually caved and the case nurse rearranged his schedule to come Mon. Although two days doesn't seem like much time, the initial info we were given was too limited and we could've been doing a better job of making my Grandma more comfortable. 4. Their team told us we would have 24/7 access to a nurse if needed. One time we tried calling them around 8pm as we wanted someone to come and check out a wound that got worse, this was outside of the normal working hours for our assigned nurse. We explained the situation and we were verbally told that a nurse would come in a few hours. What actually happened was a person from the main office (not a nurse/vocational nurse) came and dropped off a few extra bandages which wasn't what we requested. We were not informed that it was just going to be a supply drop and not a nurse coming in to actually see my Grandma. Although we were not happy with their service, even from the beginning, it would've put more stress on my Grandma if we changed companies after a short period of time. The only positive experience was with our home health aide Silvia M, she took amazing care of my Grandma. She explained everything to us and my Grandma before she did anything and asked multiple times if we had any questions. She has many years of experience and it shows in the services she provides. She is very passionate about her job and takes exceptional care of not only her patient, but the family as well. Her tips/recs were super helpful. If the rest of Elizabeth's staff were like her, we would've had a very different experience. Overall, if you are researching hospice care companies look elsewhere, as I would not want anyone else or their family to go through what we experienced with this company. read more

Difficult to get support. Joining a grief support felt like an interview process. Spoke with multiple different people and was required to go thru a multi step process similar to a job interview which requires me to make a phone appointment in advance to speak with 2 completely new counselors at the same time who had no idea about my case and then wait for them to decide my eligibility whether I could join the group or not. Lots of back and forth phone calls. Complicated process and no counseling or support yet. Simply going thru the process to get counseling is already tiring, slow and exhausting read more

My father wouldn't have made it to walk me down the aisle at my wedding if it wasn't for this organization. I wouldn't have know how to survive the grief and continue to go through the grief of my father without the complimentary counseling services provided by this wonderful organization. They have beautiful and supportive memorial services and celebrations of life events. I've attended two already. It's unfortunate that it seems many are more angry with grief when writing their Yelp reviews than actually taking the time to see any positive. read more

Before writing this, I did not know what Hospice did and my thoughts of only the worst. Elizabeth Hospice of Escondido has changed my thinking. My husband's health has been declining and recommendation from his Dr suggested care and support that Elizabeth Hospice could provide for him. Additionally, Dr felt I needed additional help and support to manage these difficult and challenging times that awaits ahead. The next day received first call from Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido and assigned to Amethyst Team. Meeting each team member in the days ahead and understanding their professional role for care for my husband. We commented among ourselves and overwhelmed how supportive, kind, attentive, never feeling rushed and will not leave our home until all questions or concerns and anything else has been answered and communicated. The Teams' approach of honesty and straightforwardness as possible has made this life changing journey as we are not alone and we have the confidence of the Team for support and care. I do have an individual that really stands out is Heather Longwell, Respiratory Therapist as my husband has Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and her knowledge and experience has given us confidence and support during this period of decline. Heather is supportive about expected changes allowing both of us to understand what is happening and reduce the stress and anxiety this terminal disease creates. She has given me so much support telling me what we could expect and how to deal with moving forward keeping my husband comfortable. I can't speak highly enough about Elizabeth Hospice. They truly are angels. My husband received a terminal diagnosis and was referred to hospice on Monday morning of Thanksgiving week - a difficult time to get anything done. Yet, by afternoon I was talking to hospice staff, and early evening the intake nurse came to our home. A few hours later, they delivered medicine, and in the morning, a hospital bed and supplies. During that week nurses and aides visited the house almost daily, other members of their team - chaplain, social worker, counselor - called and were available when I needed them. They were extremely well-organized, and their communication is clear. They were always available to answer questions or concerns. They always followed through. One of the nurses even came on Thanksgiving after I called to say I was uncertain about my husband's condition. I never felt alone or unsupported. I marveled at the utmost respect and gentleness with which the visiting staff treated my husband. When he died (here at home), the on call nurse who came was compassionate and very respectful, not rushing anything. When I was ready, we prepared his body together. And she called the funeral home only after I indicated it was time. They held me up through and extremely difficult time. After my husband's death, the chaplain and counselors continued to reach out to offer their support. I am now attending grief therapy. My husband had a peaceful death at home with me. Fantastic. Be careful researching and choosing hospices. They are not all the same. Highly recommend going with a non profit with a brick and mortar in San Diego County. Sadly, most hospices are for profits. Also ask that their staff are employees, not independent contractors. Also ask to see how long they've been in existence. There are a lot of hospices out there looking to make money first and foremost. Our experience with this hospice was top notch. Highly recommend. read more

Hospice is not an easy decision. Showing utmost care and competency is paramount for both the patient and their family at any time. This is CoVid-19. With heightened exposure, they should be hyper vigilant about all care. Unfortunately Elizabeth Hospice made three consecutive mistakes which could have been costly. These were red flag warning which prompted me to dismiss them. They provided excellent care for my Mom seven years ago. They had an excellent reputation as being the best in hospice care. The caring support from everyone at Elizabeth Hospice got me thru this sad ordeal as my mother declined day by day. I don't think I could have handled this if it weren't for them. A HUGE thank you to Gloria, who came three times a week with a sweet attitude and caring manner. The nurse Sue was always there if I needed her and had a much needed calming effect. We brought in hospice care for our father, Elizabeth Hospice basically held our hand through the entire process. They kept us informed about his care, and needs and advised us to move him when it appeared his care facility was not providing the level of care he needed. They helped us find a new place, closer to our home. When Dad was transitioning, they were there, bedside with us and afterwards provided options for counseling should we need it. They kept us informed along the way with what to expect and what we could do to assist in his care. I would highly recommend Elizabeth Hospice to anyone needing hospice. read more

Such a disappointing experience: When preparing to bring my dad home for his ending days "Jane " among other reps from other companies came out. Jane was so clear that Elizabeth hospice was the best. My 86 year old father had vascular dementia and suffered a horrible fall resulting in him being transferred to Palomar where he was admitted to the trauma unit. As this was during COVID we were prohibited from visiting. However once it was apparent my dad would not recover we selected Elizabeth Hospice to support us in the hospital. They quickly cleared the way to allow us to be with my dad. We were with him when he passed. After the initial shock and sadness became less we learned about the Teddy Bear project. I took 4 of my dad's beloved Hawaiian shirts to the volunteers. The coordinator, Cindy is an angel on Earth. She said she would call when all four were ready unless I needed one quickly-which I didn't. Today I got the call to pick them up and they are absolutely perfect. I got one for each of his grandchildren (ages16, 18, 26 and 28). They will be saved until they are expecting their own first child. Hopefully I can give them the bears and a picture of dad wearing the shirt (Cindy's idea) at their baby shower. Thank you for taking a sad event and creating a beautiful memory. I hope you never need hospice services, but if you do this is the best place to go. When my wife passed away last year they were recommended to me by a dear friend. They were prompt, compassionate, and took care of every detail. The caregivers were wonderful. They changed the bed clothes and my wife's clothes and bandages on a daily basis. The nurses were highly trained and through. They even had pastoral visits and professionals to help you after your loved one passes. When your loved one passes away they will handle all of the arrangements with the funeral parlor of your choosing.
