I always like how easy it is to organize any group hangouts or meetups here because the towers have identifiable numbers to know where to walk towards. There's plenty of fire pits around but I know some people like to pretty much reserve one by coming here early in the day. I had a lot of fun watching the sunset here and roasting hotdogs and smores by the fire. I think the sand here is pretty smooth mainly, but I wouldn't trust running around barefoot because a lot of families and groups come by here with stuff. You can definitely risk stepping on something. I didn't check if the bathrooms were open the last time I was here since we stayed around for about only a couple of hours. I know you have to make reservations well in advance and there is a limit to how many days you can stay there. It is so pretty. The sunset is a wonderful time to come. They have firepits and you can grill there. Bring chairs because they usually don't have tables open. The bike path runs though it and you can start the path in Venice and just keep going. There is a lot of surf to walk by. It is a happy place and you will like it. I would not bother going alone. There are much nicer beaches for a solo trip. The people that go there are nice and it is a safe beach. Enjoy.

It was like a painting. There are paved trails for bikers and runners and public restrooms (not very clean but I'll discount that because it was end of day). I've enjoyed the beaches in CA quite a lot but recommend going either at sunrise or sunset for the optimal combination of smaller crowds, less heat, and vivid scenery.

You can swing and watch the ocean or have a picnic and divert your sand plans if you don't like that stuff all in your mouth. It's by Palisades del Rey which is a little known ghost community in LA so take a gander at the wasteland behind you, they used to be multimillion dollar mansions up there but because of sound pollution the entire community got mauled. We got here around 3pm and immediately lucked out and got parking at this 3 hour parking lot yay!!! We got some water and snacks from the Manhattan pizza spot and then walked and found a cute beach spot. The beach was packed with swimmers, beach volleyball, families, surfers, cyclists, roller bladers. Just a great time . We chilled and read and ha le a great time . It was so relaxing and and fun watching everyone have a beautiful afternoon. We ended up dipping our feet in the water before we left and it was not cold ! Highly recommend it and will be back .

I came in driving a Tesla and parked with my wheels not pointed toward the curb, which I fully understand was my mistake. I expected a simple ticket and moved on. Instead, they doubled down and issued another ticket shortly after for not having a front license plate. The timing of everything felt excessive and honestly frustrating, especially because it all happened within about 10 minutes of parking. What made it even more questionable was that as I was walking back, I noticed multiple other cars around me with the exact same issues. Tesla after Tesla, residents included, many without front license plates and similar small violations. That is what made the whole situation feel less like consistent enforcement and more like something was being selectively enforced or overly targeted in that moment. I cannot say for sure what the intention was, but the experience definitely did not feel balanced or fair. By the time I left, the whole situation had completely soured the visit. Instead of enjoying being in Manhattan Beach, I spent my time dealing with frustration and trying to get out of there. I understand rules are rules, but how they are enforced matters, and this felt unnecessarily aggressive. Manhattan Beach should do better in how it handles visitors and parking enforcement, because moments like this really shape how people feel about returning.

If the swings were considered unsafe, why were they removed instead of repaired or replaced with new ones? At the same time, there are still loose or missing bolts on some play features and open gaps on the elevated structures where a child could potentially fall. If safety is truly the priority, why were those issues left unaddressed? Now the playground offers much less for young children. Kids can't spend the whole time using only the slides. The swings were one of the best parts of this playground, and many local families came here specifically because of them. Please explain why the swings were removed and consider bringing them back. This playground was never truly renovated--it feels like the only major change was taking the swings away.

This was my second time here. The first time I came here it was much more crowded. This time around…read moreit appears they set up a registration booth where you can reserve a time with the attendee. There is a child's park right in front which is convenient for people with kids. I've had fun here both of the times I had came here and could only go up and down a couple times. It's a popular workout spot with restrooms and stairs on the side of the sand dune make everything so convenient. Even when it's crowded I was still able to get parking and on the other side of the park I noticed there is ample parking for handicap spots.

We love coming through here, not for the sand or the water, but for the view, bar and grub hopping. Coming through on an off-season midweek late lunch, we weren't surprised to find no crowds - which we kinda liked. (We've been here many times, mostly during weekend peak times and offff...) We didn't miss that at all. There are tons of cute shops, eateries (many who are very dog friendly), and fantastic ocean views. If you feel like getting steps in, I suggest walking to the end of the pier and back. Parking is hit and miss. A challenge during the weekends, but plenty. Street and structure available. You can pay with cards, coins or through an app. It never gets old coming through. We shall return over and over again.
