This local gem is shining. *Please note the name is deceiving. There is no view from a mountain. Nor is there a view of a mountain. It's Lancaster. There is only some elevated earth visible. There was a decent size parking lot, and my favorite wind break double doorway, to keep patrons and food warm. We visited on a Saturday morning, and got lucky to be seated right away. Small looking, but through another doorway is another dining room. Table side service with very friendly staff. Beverages were prompt and refilled. I wanted to try so many things I was recommended. She claimed everything was homemade. That might deserve an asterisk. Luckily our server mentioned half portions. Let's get started. The biscuit was good, but the gravy was just OK in a way that lacked sausage or black pepper flavor. The eggs Benedict was cooked the perfect poaching. The hollandaise sauce was slightly off. Sandy described it perfectly as a bit tangy. Since the whole table asked for very crispy hash browns, there was no error in our order. The Crunch French Toast is a beautiful presentation. Dredged in a Capt Crunch batter. The crumbs were much finer, giving less crunch. I did still enjoy it with that grilled crispy crunch, topped with sweet berries and whipped cream. Prices were pretty low. Pay at the register. No military discount, but specials offered daily. People talk about the broasted chicken. I hope my next visit has a daily special of boneless broasted chicken with some poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. read more

After being disappointed by Scramblers for the last time, the wife and I were looking to find a breakfast place that could be our go to place. We tried Todd's today, it realizing it's was so close to where we lived. Our server was well versed on the menu and extremely friendly. Wife got the Nutella/banana pan cakes. I got the Donut World Apple Fritter French toast. Also got a "side" of soft poached eggs with sausage links and a biscuit. Wife loved her pancakes. My French toast was excellent. I didn't use any of the provided syrup. It was sweet enough for me. Eggs were poached perfectly. Sausage links were as expected. The only thing I did not like at all were their "daily made" biscuits. Not saying it wasn't made today but it was tough as leather. Looking forward to going back but will just get their toast the next time. Got a half sweet/half unsweet iced tea and it was also excellent. I think we found our breakfast place. read more

This is a very good, hometown restaurant in Lancaster. They are known for their broasted chicken but we usually go there for breakfast. The price point here is more than reasonable, the coffee is good, service is fast and friendly. My wife and I get their breakfast skillet, which has a Southwest kinda feel to it and man is it good; and the amount of food you get is incredible. I would recommend switching out the home fries for hash browns if thats your thing. Two words: Happenin joint! I got lucky and got here just in the nickel of a pickle! Several booths and tables, however this is a pretty popular home-style restaurant with the Lancaster locals. Not but 5 minutes after I was seated did a line start to form all the way back to the door. Fortunately, they seem to do a great turn-over, so the line moved at a steady pace. My waitress was polite. Gave me plenty of time to look over the well-populated menu. They're all very accommodating and make the tabulate feel right at home. I was, for some odd reason, craving some classic breakfast foods. Went with the Hot Cakes, Eggs and Meat dish. While it wasn't on the menu, I asked the lady if I could sub in corn cakes for the pancakes - they totally grabbed my attention, and all attempts to reason were lost to the wind - and she figured the kitchen could finagle the request. They've got egg whites (classic American diner!), so I also got those (didn't want to mess with the yolk-guilt). Sugar free syrup along with the regular. You know, in case the sugar free tastes like a cheap Sweet n Low mix-up. The corn cakes were really good! Hot. Butter melted right into those hot rounds. Slight sweet taste. Good, yet not over-powering, "cornbread" flavor! The regular syrup comes warmed in a small metal serving kettle. The first sausage patty was cooled and somewhat cold. That's definitely a ding, especially when you're in the mood. Classic down-home cooking at its finest. We were headed to Rising Park in Lancaster and wanted to try something new. We decided on Todd's Mountain View. Upon entering, we were a little confused if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait as there was no one close to the door and no sign for direction. We went to the register and someone came out and found us a table. From there on, our waitress was great! She was slammed as they sat several tables for her at once, but she was still attentive and got us our food right away, which was appreciated as the 8 year-old with us was pretty antsy. We ordered several items and the food was pretty good. We didn't get pics of all the food but the corn cakes we ordered were wonderful! Corn cakes are a fave and didn't disappoint. I saw the reviews on here, and being in town for work, thought I'd give it a shot. I can't tell you how the food was, because when I walked into the restaurant, it was a scene of utter chaos. I had to cut into the line of people paying to ask if someone would seat me. They said to sit anywhere. Every free table in the restaurant was dirty, and covered in leftover food and salad dressings...sooo gross. I sat at 2 different gross and dirty tables, with not one person noticing me, until I got up and left. The average age of the dining clientele was like 70 years old....I suspect anyone with functioning taste buds should look elsewhere... read more

I was out at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday and had a craving for NOT FAST FOOD so I decided to go back for a late lunch. As soon as I walked in I immediately felt at home. They were extremely busy on this day. They were short staffed but that didn't slow them down at all. They have a sign "Don't sit at a table with dirty dishes" and they were serious. But I found a clean table close to door which was fine. Customers coming in were considerate and were quiet. I had a hard time making up my mind because so many great dishes to choose from. I ordered the small steak with gravy/mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts & rolls. The waiter was taking my order only about 5 minutes after I came into the dining area. It appeared to me the staff was all working together get tables cleared even with short staff. My food was hot (temperature) and I had to ask busy waitress twice if I could get steak sauce and then she made another trip to get me more napkins. She flew back twice to get what I need needed. I only had one disappointment and that was the mashed potatoes were NOT homemade but the gravy made up for it. The patrons next to me were talking to each other but not noisy and I enjoyed their conversation. Had no room for dessert because portions were big. I was in and out in about 40 minutes. I don't live around this area, but i happened to stop by after spending the morning at Rising Park with a friend. I always love trying new restaurants when i'm in a different part of town and this was the perfect place. The people were so friendly and they're not kidding when they say they treat new people like regulars. My friend got the club sandwich and i got the crunchy french toast, and let me just say, they were both AMAZING! The food tasted like it was made in grandma's kitchen. The absolute best sausage gravy I've ever had from a restaurant!! This was my first time here....We were acknowledged right away, within a minute of seating ourselves. Our server, Ash, was very friendly, and took great care of us! We both ordered the Mountain Top breakfast. The food came out within 10 minutes, and was delicious! This is a solid 3-Star restaurant. Nothing special or fancy, and the food isn't that great (but decent), and it's cheap. I have to agree with another review that the clientele is significantly older, and I wonder if that's why they use literally zero seasoning in their food. If they had utilized a little salt or pepper, the food would've been better. I know I can add it once I have the food, but that's not the same and you know it. As it was, the food was passable but bland. The biscuits were decent, but slightly dry. The gravy was better than anticipated. The atmosphere was okay. I could tell it was a lot of regulars. Love this restaurant. It reminds me of Stan's that burnt down on the corner of 3C and Morse Rd. in Columbus. It's divey but the food is delicious and the price is right. I usually order the chicken taco salad (minus green peppers and tomatoes) with salsa and thousand island dressing. It's very good. The cheeseburger platter is very good. The fries are the crinkled ones which I love. Cole slaw is creamy. The stuffing (dressing) with gravy is a great choice for a side. I also like the fried chicken and Johnny Marzetti. Check it out. The Lemon Meringue pie is to die for. Sometimes they run out so my Mom and I order a piece first and then our meal. Only drawback is the restroom. Only have one restroom for male and female.
