Man I was realllyy dying for sushi and then I saw that this food truck was in our hood today, so I opted out of cooking and waited impatiently for my husband to get home from work. Once he arrived, we grabbed our toddler and hopped on the golf cart and headed right there. Once there it was confusing cause there was only laminated menus on the ledge and people were everywhere, kind of hard to practice social distance when you have to go up and grab menus that everyone else is touching. Maybe have paper menus like others or if not, have a bottle of sanitizer out for after we touch to sign and/or order. I personally like when they have a menu online (which they don't) or have a big sign out. Anyways, we ended up ordering three rolls to split, cause the pics looked like they were huge! They weren't as big as I assumed. They smelled great and I couldn't wait to dig in! Once home I looked back at the pic I took of the menu and was surprised to see a lot of the ingredients were missing! And though it was alright, it certainly did not cure my sushi craving!! I loveeee a picture menu, but if you aren't going to represent and serve it exactly as shown, then I will more than likely be disappointed. We ordered the sexy roll, paradise roll and spicy tuna with massago roll. We could tell the sexy roll was the sexy roll but to have all of those ingredients and not be able to taste them all was a shame. And it was missing the caviar, couldn't tell if anything else cause it was little bits inside. Still this was the most flavorful out of the three. The other two did not appear to be anything like the menu shown and/or described. :/ I gave three stars cause the service and freshness but I still NEED my FIX Okay, I wasn't fond of the last order, in my personal opinion they had to much to offer, but this time I ordered their sushi burrito ... I ordered crab & shrimp without cream cheese, cause again another personal opinion, I don't feel like cream cheese belongs in sushi and I ordered it raw (not fried) and it was amaze ballllllzzzzz omg so good!! Get it!

I would've been sketched out by the idea of food truck sushi but it was recommended by friends so I gave it a try. The menu wasn't my favorite (a lot of fried stuff or cream cheese) but the sushi we ordered was really tasty. Would 100% do again. I kind of hated that they wanted you to order on the app initially because I thought it would take a while or be poor UX but it was so quick and simple... it wasn't clear to me though that they text you when the food is ready so I had to ask them what to expect after placing my order anyway.

Sushi Burrito, cold not fried, shrimp and crab ...

Sushi burrito. You're welcome. Yes, I ordered the sushi burrito for dinner one night. It was huge and amazing. You can get it fried or cold. I went with cold, and filled with sushi and crab, among all of the other standard options that come inside of it. My only request for the future will be to hold the cilantro. Too strong for my taste buds in this sushi gem. Overall, a great experience for the first time, and will definitely be back for more the next time they're in my neighborhood.

I've seen the Tobo Sushi truck many times walking around park circle but finally decided to stop and try it! I love that you order inside Ships wheel- perfect to get sushi and a drink. We ordered and did wait about 20 minutes to get our food but we were in no rush. Everything was amazing. The Philly roll was probably our favorite because it was super flavorful with the cream cheese and smoked salmon but the crunch roll was a close second with the AMAZING sauce on top. It says spicy sauce on their Facebook menu but it tasted more like eel sauce to me, with sweetness that complimented the tempura shrimp wonderfully. The California and salmon roll were just classic, great quality rolls. We also loved the outside patio seating. Thanks Tobo for some of the best sushi we've had in Charleston!

Love this food truck. It has such a diversity of food! Their tacos were on point! The people are so nice, too. You will get your food fresh and fast!

    Competition Roll

Tobo Food Truck visited our neighborhood and my husband and I are HUGE sushi and poke bowl fans so we knew we had to give it a shot. It exceeded my expectations! The poke bowl was so fresh and the flavors were unreal. I decided on the competition roll (it's their most popular) and boy I can see why. The fresh mango on top made for the perfect touch of sweetness to the roll. I HIGHLY recommend this business and I can't believe something so heavenly came from a food truck!

Got the sushi burrito on a whim while drinking cider at Ships Wheel. Already full from pizza, but the size the burrito seemed from the picture seemed about egg roll size, so I decided I had enough room in my already full stomach. It came out. I grabbed the styrofoam box it was in. Already, I was surprised by the weight. I opened it, and just about cr*pped my pants. This thing is massive. I bit in, had to give half to my friend. It was amazing. Crunchy panko breaded on the outside, crisp vegetables on the inside, crab/shrimp combo, nice and warm, two sauces on top creating a blast of flavors. Absolutely amazing.

Visited the food truck at the park circle location and got the shrimp tempura roll and chicken and steak hibachi. The shrimp was still raw and the hibachi was below average. I've had better at seasons of Japan which is saying a lot. You can get better food absolutely anywhere else. Would not recommend wasting your money here.

Tobo came to our apartment complex last night for an event and let me just tell you they were great! There was a line out the door and they got us our sushi fast but with still good quality with only two people! The ingredients taste super fresh and I was surprised at how well they were able to keep the fried seafood without it getting mushy. We will definitely head over to Revelry Brewery and catch them while they're there.

Sushi burrito with tuna and salmon. So good!

I ordered the Lobster roll (forgot complete name) and the Tsunami roll. Both of my rolls were incredible. They were very nice, 10/10 rolls. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were on point. All of my friends also enjoyed the rolls they ordered. I also ordered the fish collar tacos, which is easily the best bang for your buck on the menu. The plate only costs $14 and it comes with 2 fat fish collars, not sure what species, forgot to ask, if I had to guess I would say grouper or cobia. These collars are beautiful fried and loaded with meat. Additionally the plate comes with some lettuce, cilantro, lime, pineapple pico, sauce, and 3 flour tortillas. If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty to separate the meat from bone, you will get three very very filled fish tacos and have meat to spare. Needless to say, the fish collar tacos were delicious and very well priced. Now, Charleston itself has a slight smell but it's very unappetizing to walk into sour/fishy smell. We decided to push through and try it because it was down pouring. The restroom is a single room, gender natural restroom. It was gross. The floors were sticky and slippery. The oyster appetizer was unique but had great flavor with the old bay seasoned crackers. For entrees I had the cornmeal friend fish. It was a great size price of fish, came out hot and fresh and fried to perfection. It does come on a bed of cream corn, but there were no real side dishes you could add or order. So it was filling, but not as hearty as other meals. I also asked for a sauce to accompany the fish just to break up the taste and texture a bit void of a true side. I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite.
