Was walking to a convention at the Ritz Carlton, and saw a bunch of cop cars parked outside of this unassuming little breakfast spot. Do you know that when the police eat there, it's got to be good, so in I went. First thing that strikes you is the brightness and friendliness of the place. The workers there are happy and genuinely so. It makes the experience so much better when everyone's in a good mood. I settled in on an omelette with a biscuit and potato cake. The omelette was fluffy, huge, and not a bit of the egg was burned. You can tell the cooks stood over this and tossed it the right amount of times to give it air. The potato cake was tasty, served with a homemade apple sauce. The genuine surprise was the biscuit...it was round, not square, like it came cut out of a sheet which many great biscuits are. No, this was its own entity. It was huge like a softball, and was served with homemade mango butter. I wish my stomach were bigger, because it was that darn good. Next time in Sarasota I'm definitely coming back to this place for breakfast and probably lunch too. read more

This is a classic breakfast (and lunch) diner and I love it. They have all the breakfast comfort food: eggs, pancakes, French toast, hash browns, bacon, sausage, juices etc. everything you would expect at a fair price for the area. The staff is amazing, friendly and attentive. Every random wait person that walks by treats me like I am their customer and asks if I need anything. My iced tea glass was huge with plenty of ice, which is the only way to serve tea. I had the French toast, eggs and grits and with the mango butter and powdered sugar I didn't need syrup, but I had it anyway! I ordered toast on the side to go and they timed it just perfect with the bill. I came back for lunch and had the blackened tilapia wrap and three bean mango salad. Very good, but I would like a little more "blackened" taste. For the 3 bean salad, I would suggest that using black beans instead of kidney would be more interesting. They even have some healthy stuff like wraps, smoothies and salads if you are feeling a little guilty. If you are having a bad day, just stop by and you will be smiling before you leave, guaranteed! Service is awesome! Place is bright and cheerful. Wife loved the menu and mango butter. I'm more of a southern breakfast person and enjoy sausage gravy and friend steak. My only option was a very small side of sausage gravy at $3.50. I probably should take another star off because of the ants running around the wall next to our table. We are eating outside so I get you may be forgotten when it comes to coffee refills or bringing water but at the other table here was two young chicks that the guy servers were tripping over themselves asking is everything ok! We have been to five star restaurants with sub par hospitality and then we go to Toasted Mango for breakfast and get the best service we have had in a long time. It was so good we actually had four different people ask if we wanted more coffee and took such great care of us. I had the smashed avocado toast and it was excellent. A very hearty portion. Plus this restaurant was quite reasonable in price. It's in a little strip mall around the corner from the hotel we stayed in so the location is great! I visited Sarasota last weekend & stopped by this cafe. As soon as we walked in we just got stared at by a lady working the bar side which she was probably the manager (wore glasses). Service was terrible there & the food was o.k, I ordered an egg sandwich with tomato's on the side (one of the side options) & when we got the bill I saw an extra charge for tomato's & the same lady (with glasses) said they changed their menu and it's additional charge now for tomato's and that FOR THIS TIME ONLY she'd take it off our bill & for NEXT TIME we knew. She was extremely rude & as first time guests there we won't ever be going back! & SECOND we looked at your menu & there was nothing that said "additional charge for tomato's" this lady was being absolutely petty over some tomato's and look over your menu before giving out false information. We figured on a Tuesday afternoon that the service would be excellent however we were wrong. We waited about 20 minutes for the waiter to come and take our order there were only about six or seven tables occupied. Once the waiter took our order the food came out in a timely manner. I got an omelette with gluten-free toast everything was hot and delicious. My daughter got the Philly patty melt which was also delicious. To drink I got a cappuccino which was perfectly made. The only reason I would hesitate to go on a weekend is if services this slow during the week I can imagine on a weekend when it's busy. I thought the price was good for the amount of food that you get and I will definitely go back and give it a second chance. On the way out a cashier was getting yelled at by an elderly lady customer regarding her sausages taking too long after she had asked for them to be well done. The cashier was very accommodating apologetic and kind even though this customer wasn't being rude and obnoxious. The hostess was very frazzled and unorganized. Once we sat down, I could see that this place is very dirty with used napkins and crumbs all over the floor. Our table was missing a chair and we had to ask for one. The prices are very high, my friend was charged $5 for a small cup of orange juice. I got the "award winning" mango topped waffle which was just an average Belgian waffle (my friend's was burned) with unripe mango on top. I was expecting perfectly ripe and juicy mango but what I got was unripe mango which was bitter and hard to eat. GET THE MANGO ICED TEA, it's DELICIOUS. as a tourist or visitor for just a quick late breakfast bite to get the day started, this place will suffice. There were no more than 15 parking spots available, luckily we found a spot within entering the plaza. They offer a basic breakfast menu, nothing out of the ordinary. After much deliberation, I ordered the Greek omelet with house potatoes and wheat toast. The food came within a reasonable time which was great. The omelet was decent, other than feta and spinach, there was nothing Greek about this omelet. Lttle bit of dried oregano would've helped a lot. I love potatoes, there I said it. Any breakfast/brunch joint, I always order house potatoes as my side. Unfortunately this place didn't provide the best potatoes, they were barely warm. I really hope they weren't microwaved. Service: we had two ladies that helped make our dine-in experience pleasant. They did a great job in making sure our drinks stayed filled and checked on us frequently. Drink: orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. Pineapple juice tasted funky- like from a can. Their mango tea was delicious (must try) !! However, when I asked for a to-go, it tasted nothing like what I was drinking during my dining. I was a bit disappointed. Food: - BLT : typical BLT. Crispy bread. The fries tasted similar to McDonalds but of higher quality. They were really yummy. - We saw a lot of people get salads. I forget the exact name of the salad we got but it had grilled blackened chicken and avocado. All the ingredients seemed fresh and it was refreshing. Right next to the restaurant is Frozen Mango.
