This was a morning stop for me. I got a smoothie and an avocado toast. I like the concept and am a big fan of health food cafes but this was a miss for me. The avocado toast looked beautiful but didn't taste good. The tomatoes had a kombucha-like taste..maybe they were old? And avocado had an additive in it, no way this was just mashed avocado. TLDR: Toastique seems fresh, fun and has some inventive yet simple dishes (I mean it's toast but still..) However, if the prices make you a bit skittish, trust me you're not alone; the food seems fresh with high quality ingredients and the prices reflect that (and then some). Long story short, if you're looking for an expensive snack definitely give this a try - but don't go out of your way for this if you're particularly hungry and looking to feel satiated. LONGER TAKE: so how long could a review about a piece of toast possibly be? We're about to find out I only ordered one item - the smoked salmon toast which came out to $19 (!) including an 18% gratuity. $19 for toast seems pretty aggregous on the face of it and is hard to justify but as you can tell from the photos the portions size for the smoked salmon was not lacking - however it surprising was lacking flavor. I get smoked salmon almost anywhere that offers it and buy it from the grocery store on the regular - I'll tell you, this was some bottom tier smoked salmon action. FINAL VERDICT: The lack of flavor and tradeoffs of what you can get for $19 makes this a hard pass for me read more

My wife and I live up near AMI decided to go to the Sarasota farmers market on Saturday. We had not been in years and didn't have anything on our agenda for the day. Very nice location located in downtown Sarasota. The inside is very spacious and had plenty of seating. Relatively smaller menu which makes ordering at the counter very easy. We ordered 2 different toasts and while they were both delicious I have a hard time justifying $30. They do have complimentary water but any juice or smoothies are gonna set you back another $6-$10. I never write bad reviews. As a small business owner I don't like to, but I had an awful experience here that caused me a serious health risk and issues. Though it was a mean middle aged man I was dealing with that caused this, ultimately this is a reflection of and the responsibility of the business and its owners to make sure that their staff is well trained in handling allergies, know ingredients, or if they don't, at least make sure to check them when presented with allergies. Anyway, a week ago I went excited to see a new healthy spot. I politely, very clearly explained when ordering avocado toast that I am vegan and have a dairy, and gluten allergy. I made sure to ask if their gluten-free bread has egg or dairy in it. The older man completely dismissed me, quickly answering that the gluten-free bread was egg and dairy free. He was so aloof I made sure to ask again for safe measure- "do you know if it's the brand UDI's? because that one has eggs and dairy in it." Again, he got super annoyed and quickly answered "This one does not have dairy or eggs." He made me feel so ashamed and uncomfortable for asking, it ruined the experience from the get-go. As if its my fault I can't eat these things. I decided to trust him and proceeded to take a couple bites of my food when it arrived.. soon after I started feeling faintish and sick to my stomach. I realized it was the same texture and look as UDI's so I knew. I went back up to the counter, asked him if I could see the packaging of the bread to make sure I didn't have eggs or dairy. He should've done this the first 2 times I asked. He resentfully grabbed it, and sure enough looked up at me and goes "Oh..... yeah.... it says eggs." Literally didn't even say sorry. Like what? Anyone who owns a business or works in the service industry (I used to) would immediately apologize!! I mean, this is a serious liability and more so, just flat out rude and a horrible emotional experience being treated like a pest. All I said back was "You know, this is serious, that's why I asked a few times. Should be careful when people have allergies" Of course he asked what I wanted instead, so I got açaí bowl. But again, no acknowledgment or apology. Once we were leaving he said "have a nice day" as if to save the situation then. I ended up breaking out in psoriasis and being in bed the rest of the day. To be clear, cross contamination is one thing, I'm aware they serve all kinds of food here, unfortunately I don't have the luxury of avoiding that or I would starve to death, but to have the actual ingredients you're allergic to served to you directly IN your food is ENTIRELY different. I've worked at restaurants myself and we always had a thorough, meticulous allergen process, and treated our guests with so much care and kindness! Please be nicer to your guests, don't treat them like pests, and take the time to actually be respectful and diligent with allergies. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I don't want to fully crush a business' ratings over this man's ignorance----- when I do appreciate their effort to at least have some vegan options... and the blondish young girl at the counter was a sweetheart, as one should be. read more

The restaurant is situated in a very nice area of downtown Sarasota that has a lot of different food options. The reason, I will not be returning is there employees tend to be very abrupt and unfriendly. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but this is the second time. No smiles and when I asked questions the staff seemed very disinterested in interacting. I hope they figure out that customer service is just as important as good food otherwise I suspect they will not last very long. I had the PB Crunch $12 and my husband had the Greek $11 and we loved the presentation of how it was served on the wood board with lovely silverware.
