Biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and bacon.
Cheri B.

We've lived in and around the area for years and have never stopped here, mostly because the parking lot is usually packed. Sadly, we won't return. Food presentation was beautiful but that doesn't replace receiving a quality and hot meal. All the foods except French toast are probably bulk cooked and then just warmed up when ordering. We arrived at 9:30 to a 3/4 full restaurant so we expected a wait. Didn't think we'd have to wait 30 minutes, especially considering our food was not even warm. Hubby ordered biscuits and gravy which came with eggs and meat. He chose scrambled eggs and bacon. NOTHING on his plate was even warm. Every single item was room temperature at best. Eggs were hotel buffet quality (possibly powdered and microwaved). Bacon was baked and way overcooked. Biscuit was generous sized and probably would have been good had it been hot. I ordered banana and walnut French toast with sausage and a side of grilled potatoes. French toast had a weird flavor, almost like the egg batter was not fresh. Sausage was a frozen variety like you'd get at Aldi. Potatoes were undercooked as some were still hard and had no flavor. I had to generously S&P them several times. Neither of us ate even half of our food. Our server was very busy on the inside seating and didn't come out with our ticket so we had to go inside to pay. He apologized and said he was sorry he's been so busy. We figured that might be the reason our food was cold. Perhaps it was hot when finished but it waited so long to get brought to us that it got cold. Either way, breakfast is too easy and we can find many more places that will serve us hot food.

Biscuits and gravy

This was our first visit to this place. The biscuits were delicious and large. The gravy had the perfect consistency and was steaming hot. The eggs were very tasty. The service was great and prompt It's a quaint little place and is definitely a place to visit if you're in the area.

Outside the restaurant

The food was delicious, the service was excellent, the prices? Fantastic! Absolutely loved this place, it's small but all great places are. Highly recommend!! After eating I don't feel bloated or so full I can't walk, I'm very happy and extremely satisfied with the food portions. I got the eggs Benedict and my husband got the chicken and waffles, 10/10! The Peach mimosa was also really good!

Biscuits and gravy, sunny side up eggs, and bacon

We always enjoy our breakfast dates to Toasted. Usually we order the Eggs Benedict but today I opted for Biscuits and Gravy. It comes with eggs of your choice so I picked sunny side up which I don't cook. The bacon was just crispy enough. The gravy had a great flavor and the biscuits were flakey and big. Endless coffee refills topped things off. Sebastian is the best!

Breakfast is everything when you come to Toasted!! When you first walk in, you're instantly greeted by all employees which is refreshing considering most restaurants don't say much when you walk in. We were instantly seated and our drink orders were taken very quick. The atmosphere is very trendy and upbeat! The ONLY issue I had today, was the fact the cook time took about 20 -25 minutes. I know it's busy in there in the mornings, but customer retention is based off time management and quality. This con is strictly constructive criticism, because I will come back to eat here.

The young man working behind the bar/counter was very nice and followed up often, always with a smile.

Service is always good, but the food always come out warm/cold. For some reason that just throws me off.

The food and the mimosas were great, great brunch location and with being across the street from the university makes it an ideal location!

That's it. Tried twice. Flys everywhere. Eggs cold. Eggs over cooked. Forgot part of order. Servers sleep on counter. Serious.

Food was good. Service was good, but we were the only ones in the place at the early opening hour of 7:00. Would try again.

Very reasonable pricing and extremely fast service…read more The "queso" cheese sauce is basic Costco nacho cheese sauce, I wouldn't get it again, very mediocre. Something house-made and with a custom flavor was expected. The "crispy chicken" is another store bought product that's chopped up and put on top. The mango-habanero sauce had a little kick, but was way too sweet for my preference. Overall, not a culinary hotbed, but a unique dining experience none-the-less.

I LOVE College Town places to eat. While in Huntsville, TX,…read morehome of the Sam Houston State University Bearkats, my daughter suggested the Potato Shack for lunch. On first glance, this looks to be a converted Dairy Queen that has been subjected to a Frankenstein process of additions over the years. Walking in you are subjected to the ordering line that is merged with a full bar. This place, inside, is what I think a college hangout is supposed to look like. Lucky 19 Brewing signs run amok on the walls ... I later found out that it is also a hometown brewery that makes a really good IPA, but that is another tale. Sturdy tables and metal chairs await us after we order. My Wife and Daughter got the "Classic Potato" that has bacon, chives, cheese, butter and sour cream, with my daughter subbing the potato for tater tots. Either way it is served, there is plenty of starchiness to go around. My lunch was the Thursday Special - the Hotwing Potato. This is a average sized baker that is easy to break apart with a fork to stir in the chunks of fried chicken, melted cheddar and lots of hot wing sauce. I added ranch and sour cream to the mix for more of a flavor blend. Usually I try and take a before shot to show what it looks like before demolishing it with utensils as it drops into my piehole. However, I did manage a shot right after mixing. The chicken chunks were crispy and cooked through and through. Their buffalo sauce had enough kick to let my tongue know what it was without scorching my taste buds. I paired it with the Lucky 19 Texas IPA and it was a good flavor profile for my particular potato selection. Now, for the big reveal ... I would eat at this place regularly if I lived in Huntsville. Next time I am there, it will have a heavy weight consideration as a lunch place. I can only imagine how crowed it is when school is in session. Ciao, Darrell

Our waitress (Alyssa) was friendly, prompt, and we enjoyed just talking with her. Fried catfish, fried okra, broccoli/cheese/rice casserole and mashed potatoes, along with a trip to the salad bar and a 32oz Mason jar full of cold iced tea. Halfway through the meal we asked for to-go boxes, but it was so good we just kept eating! We also spoke with the manager, and offered thanks for such a great meal. She told us about the salad bar (vs a karaoke machine), and we all agreed it was the right call. Ambiance is casual (SHSU is nearby), but most of the diners were aged way beyond college, including my wife and I. I felt like the price was more than reasonable, especially with the food quality and the service. I highly recommend giving them a try! I will return next time I stop in Huntsville for some great grub, and people that make you feel welcome. The Cafe restaurant can frown at someone else, I'm going to City Hall!!!
