Ordered the carnitas and eggs breakfast plate and also ordered the zucchini bread. The carnitas and all the fixings were delicious, the carnitas is pull-apart tender and the green salsa and pico de gallo is spot on. The zucchini bread was very moist and delicious! OVERALL It was nice to reacquaint myself with Toasted Bun after all these years and would be interested in returning to sample more of their somewhat vast menu. We were there this morning for breakfast, 4 people, including my pregnant daughter. After they instructed us to choose a table, they told us we could not be seated at a specific booth because it was meant for 5 or 6 people, we had no choice but to leave the place. Covid & non related: This is always our go too even back at it's original location. The food and service is always excellent and the daily special are just that special. It's always a lovely feeling when you go in as a family and they already know your drink choice. The location itself is dated as far as the decor and I always find it funny they do actually have a bar here to the side and the one bathroom but it's what it is. Like most establishments they have made this location covid friendly with a large patio dining area, I hope they take the opportunity If they can financially to redo some things indoors (second bathroom) still this very much a family diner home style feeling. Service is horrible, ordered a bagel sandwich and they gave it to me on sourdough. When I told them it was supposed to be on a bagel, the server said they were all out of bagels??? I was meeting a friend for lunch who lives in Glendale, so I asked her what she recommended. She chose here. I ordered the Monte Cristo, but it was just weird. Who serves a Monte Cristo with thousand-island dressing?? Also, they had no raspberry jam, only strawberry, in little packets on the table. TB owners: the Monte Cristo sandwich is always served with raspberry jam and confectioners sugar on top. ALWAYS. Offer your ridiculous preparation as an option, but to not have those here is just wrong. All I could really taste was the fried-ness of something that is basically a flavor bomb in your mouth (well, it's supposed to be). "B" grade on their health inspection. Sus Friendly enough staff They served me food with allergens which had no mention of these components on the menu. I took a bite before I realized it. Server was pleasant about it I guess. The food that came out the second time was rushed and poorly made and by that time I was worried about an allergic reaction and I was over it all. I ate maybe 1/10th of it and said I was done. Server brought me a check which was discounted by half. As I was going to the register to pay the check I said " I don't think you should be charging me for this food. You served me food with things I'm allergic to that weren't on the menu." She said, " nope I already gave you half is nothing I can do." I could've just walked out but I know what this industry is like so I paid the check and left a 25% tip and left. Good food and always enjoyed coming here but just had an experience where we were charged prices higher than what is on the menu. When I went to complain they pulled up another menu that had the higher prices. At the same we pulled up their online order form which had the lower price. This used to be one of my favorite spots when it was called Eat Well. I continued going when it changed to Toasted Bun because it initially had the same taste and quality. Unfortunately, the past couple times I've visited the food was burnt - hash browns, toast and pancakes. Most recently I had my Vitamin C in a coffee cup mixed with water when the waitress came and poured coffee in the cup without asking me. The whole Vitamin C packet wasted. Lastly, it was during a heat wave and they had the back door open and what felt like no AC. My waiter was nice and accommodating though.
