This place used to have the best chicken & waffles in the city. Now it's mediocre. The chicken was soft on the inside and CRISPY on the outside. But now it's a soggy mess. The meat is no longer soft. The fried batter comes off like one soggy piece of skin. The chicken also looked like half a piece of chicken breast. Half. And then they cut THAT in half to give you two pieces of meat. The texture of the chicken is so drastically different from the several times I've ordered before that I can only come to the conclusion that I got yesterday's chicken & waffles: left in the fridge, taken out, placed in the rain, and then microwaved. It was gross. My girlfriend's chicken skillet came with probably 15 grams of chicken. Seriously. I keep track of my diet and can usually estimate food portions, and it looked like 15 grams. Before today they'd put a lot more. It's mostly potatoes now. There was so much flavor in the skillets before, now it just tastes like potatoes. Random note: The owner seated us himself. He interrupted his waitress and seated us. Strange... He's never done that before. I'm not sure if he thought we were someone else that he didn't like (do all Asians look alike?), but he didn't look too happy to be serving us. Before he'd have a huge smile on his face when serving us. I'm not sure what happened. I looked at everyone's food and they looked ok. I'm not sure if what we got was just bad, but we ordered our usual meals thinking they would be safe. I guess not. Check out my pictures. I usually take pictures of my food whenever I go out to eat, and there's a DRASTIC change between now and then. 3 pieces of crispy chicken vs 2 slices? A skillet full of flavor vs a skillet full of potatoes? I don't think we'll be coming here again. For chicken & waffles, I'd suggest going to New Center Eatery in Detroit. It'll take you another 5-10min of driving, but it's totally worth it. read more

I have eaten here twice now, and I wanted to make sure that the first time wasn't just a fluke. It wasn't. This restaurant has some of the most exemplary customer service out of any breakfast place I have been to (and I've been to them all in Windsor). My coffee cup was never empty, nor was my water glass. Even though they were lined up out the door, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes and greeted with a smile. We walked in , and the place was packed however we were attended to very fast by the owner , and seated by the window, the prettiest table in the restaurant. Our coffee was never half full. The food tasted amazing , like a piece of heaven. Especially the chicken waffles. The marble flooring is cute. 10/10 would recommend. Best brunch in winsdor. read more

Went here with my boyfriend for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. It is quite busy but we managed to get a table. There is a lot of variety on the menu. I went with the eggs Benedict made with smoked salmon instead of peameal bacon, and my boyfriend got the same thing. It was delicious and it came out quickly. The portions are not huge for what you pay, but it is very tasty. We also tried the dessert poutine which we did not care for but some might. read more

So I've been coming over to Windsor quite a bit now to hang out with friends and to do some photography and to explore. One of the days I was going to hang out with a friend I decided to grab some breakfast before hand and asked a recommendation on a good place to try. She told me about this place and of coarse first thing I do start looking up reviews and the menu. I had a friend back here in the states that told me the food wasn't that great and not waste my time yet reading reviews and hearing otherwise that it was actually pretty good. When I came here I thought a little weird that when you walk in the front door to be seated you have to walk all the way to the back because the register is in the back part of the building. A little confused by that but hey every business runs differently. My waitress at me down to my table which was a little wobbly but that's because the floors they decide to use this weird stone kind of feel that should not be on the floor where you put tables. I looked over the menu and found a few different items that I want to try but I always usually stick with my first choice with a breakfast place traditionally French toast, eggs, and bacon. Most the time you can't go wrong with a meal like that and I feel of a place can go wrong with those three items they should not be in business. So they didn't have any type of soda or you know drink that I wanted so I stuck with water. I'm not much of coffee drinker or cappuccino drink or so sadly I didn't get to explore that part of the menu which seem to be pretty large. When my food came out it was nice and hot which of course is great headway to couple minutes for to cool down before I took my first bite. This was one the best breakfast as I've had since I live down in Kentucky. It was very simple but elegant at the same time. Plus the price of the meal cost me less than $10 American. I was very please with the service of my waitress also she was very helpful and very knowledgeable with the menu as I can tell if she was helping other customers in the area as she was explaining the menu. This would be a place I would highly recommend to my friends going over to Canda to try out. The only reason I won't give this place five stars is because of three things. 1 it took me forever to find a parking lot for me to parking to actually get to this restaurant to eat. 2 because I did not like the fact that I had to walk from the front to the back just to be seated. 3 because I was not a fan the floor that should not exist in a building like this where you have tables. The service is very fast and the waitresses are always constantly checking up on us. This is kind of the only breakfast game in town, at least that was open before 10am on a Sunday. The interior is odd - it looked like it had been an Italian restaurant/wine bar in a former life (faux grape vines draped, sponge paint to look like stucco, etc). The breakfast was pretty good! Nothing great or mind blowing, but good. We had a few servers helping us with drink refills, ordering, etc so sometimes there was a momentary lapse in service, but overall we got in and out in a timely manner. read more

I would highly recommend reservations if you want to be guaranteed fast entry as I watched numerous groups stand at the doorway for prolonged periods of time as the restaurant was full. I would say the food here is really the typical as far as breakfasts restaurants go. It's good with decent portion sizes. One great thing is that they have turkey bacon, which is an option not many places around Windsor offer. The service is also unbelievably good, and the servers are extremely nice. Today was my second time having breakfast at this spot on Erie street. The restaurant is bright and clean with very friendly and professional servers. Breakfast is well priced and good value. Took the family for the first time this weekend after hearing rave reviews. Being fans of eggs Benedict we both had the California bennies with bacon and avocados. The portions were very large, cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was homemade - impressive and delicious. The homefries were tender and tasty. The kids shared pancakes which were as thick as 3 pancakes but spongy and tasted like cake batter, they were awesome. The coffee was never ending and the service was super friendly and swift, lovely family running the place. The ambience was what you would expect for a breakfast joint but very clean and the prices were reasonable for the portions and quality. We're very much looking forward to bringing everyone we know and trying everything on their fantastic looking menu. This place is now at the top of the list for local breakfast venues. read more

I had no idea Toast was there until a couple days ago when I was waiting at the bus stop across the street with my four year old daughter. She announced that she needed to use a restroom, of course. I looked around and decided to try Toast to see if they would let my daughter use their restroom. The bus was due any minute, or I would have bought a little something. The waiters inside were very welcoming and had no issue with us using their restroom without buying food. They made my day! After telling my husband, we decided to check out Toast as soon as we could as a thanks for letting us use their restroom. We were in the area today, so decided to go for a late breakfast. It's a nice, clean place. Like I said, very welcoming waiters. Large menu. Everything sounded good, and we had a hard time deciding what to get. I ended up getting the pancake special, and my husband got the croque madame. My daughter got onion rings. The food was delicious. Service was top notch. Good sized portions for what you pay. Our party of two landed at TOAST at 8:30. We were seated promptly and ordered a Greek skillet and the works omelette. You better be hungry as the portions are big. Very slow but friendly service with mediocre breakfast/brunch food. I had an egg shell in my scrambled eggs, tomatoes were tasteless, and the home fries could have used more seasoning. Also one other big problem in this place is that clearly they invested zero dollars in updating the decor...it's a breakfast place with decor that screams Italian dinner (fake grape vine above the bar, wine racks on the wall, wall art with Italian-looking sculptures, etc). We ordered bacon and eggs, the waitress was very pleasant when taking our order, she brought our drinks right after ordering and checking on us during the meal.
