One thing that many negative reviewers don't know is that Best Pets only rescues dogs, not purchase them from breeders. So the dogs may not always be in the best condition and the staff do their best to give them the best care. They took in my ball python when he became too picky for me to be able to feed him, and they rehomed him to a wonderful family. I also bought my love and life, a ferret who was given away to them, and they gave me a great deal on her supplies. Now, service can be a bit slow or pricing on items your trying to sell can be a bit cheap but I totally understand, some days there's only one person on the floor and other times, business is bad and can't give too much for people's supplies. Overall, I love this store for the memories and the staffs knowledgeable information on animals.

They called the back to see if they had it, and it was a lot of back and forth about whether or not they had it. The phone call ended with them saying it was out of stock. Then a minute later they called and said they did have it after all. So I pay and pull around back, only to be told they don't have it and I would have to get a refund. This was followed by "just kidding." I was prepared to let this go, but the other interactions on top of this...it all adds up. 2) My dog hates car rides, so I put my sleeping bag on the back seat for her. It smells like me and calms her down. Someone working in the warehouse saw it and asked me if I'm homeless and live in my car, as he laughed. 3) Someone gifted me a bag of dog food in the correct brand and wrong line of food. I brought it here (unopened and brand new) to exchange it for the correct one, and was told I couldn't do that, because I had no proof it was from there, and they don't know how it's stored. This would make sense if they didn't take their own product back either, because they also don't know how the person stored it. They told me I was trying to get a free bag of food from them, which makes zero sense, considering I was trying to exchange an unopened unexpired product that actually cost more than the one I wanted, and I didn't even want the difference given back to me. It didn't matter to them I'm a long time customer of theirs. They treated me like I just randomly walked in off of the street and was demanding they hand me a free bag of food for nothing. 4) I purchased a bag of dog food, and afterwards, realized there was a small hole in the bag. I brought it back to them, and they told me if I kept the bag they would refund me $1. One dollar. They have raised the price of my dog's food by $10 per bag in the last six months or so, when it has remained the same price everywhere else. They are now about the same price as any other brick and mortar or online store. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I've only been to Pet Central once, but unfortunately it didn't leave the greatest impression on me. I am specifically concerned about the reptiles there. They are all kept on sand, which can be harmful for small reptiles, as it can cause impaction in many species. They had a nice assortment of Leopard geckos, but out of their three tanks not one had a mossy humid hide for them to shed in. They also had UVB bulbs lit which can be harmful to their eyesight if exposed to for long periods of time. Their Blue-Tongued Skink also looked uncomfortable with sand stuck to his feet. Maybe they keep the leopard geckos in a different tank at night, or bathe all their reptiles to assist in their shedding. But from the living conditions I saw, it made me very nervous if I were to ever buy a reptile from there. I want to like this store, but I'm worried for the reptiles that are being kept there.

Tons of humid animals at less than 40% humidity and showing shed problems. Plus they don't even sell any PVC enclosures for ball pythons with as many as they have. And, despite having tons of hot pads and lamps, they have barely any thermostats, much less pulse or dimming ones. Do better. Last time we ever shop here.
