I just bought a new 2011 Scion Tc and I knew I needed tinting. Being new to VA, I had no idea where to go until I stumbled on TNT Tint online. I saw the awesome reviews on Yelp so I knew I had to go there. Matt is the guy that does the tinting. He gets a little booked so make sure you call or email him for an appointment atleast 1 week in advance. He's an expert at his craft and enjoys a conversation. I spent the whole time in the garage with him talking about everything. He's a down to earth guy and you will definitely get your money's worth. I went with the 35% in the front and 35% in the back which was his suggestion. Looks great! I definitely recommend this place to everybody. Tip: its a tricky place to find. It's all the way in the back and there is no sign that says TNT Tint. If you see a bunch of BMWs in the lot and in the garage, you are in the right place. The operation is inside another car mod place so it is not a stand alone tint shop. The guy doing the installation was great and friendly. The reason for the 3 stars is because there is no laser cut machine. If I hadn't seen other tint jobs on my previous cars, I wouldn't have known the difference - the top cut (by a hand blade) is not smooth at several places :(. I took a chance at this place because it was closer to my house. They should charge lower (which they don't) as other places since it is just a side tint place, DIY, no laser cut machine, no waiting room, no written warranty or receipt if you get a tint that is not legal in Virginia (35% back, 50% front) which I would have been fine with all if it was a bit cheaper than other competitors. You can pay less and find other places within 20 minutes drive. read more

I tool around in my non-tinted eco-mobile (perhaps not *as* "eco" without tint, now that I think about it). Sure, *I* think she's cute, but the car is more for function -- gets me from point A to point B -- and finances -- I hardly ever have to fill the tank -- than much else. And that's all I really think about when it comes to my personal transportation. Husband, on the other hand, is a different story. He likes his cars and he likes to drive. He refers to his car as his "whip." He insists on manual transmission for maximum acceleration. He washes it regularly and puts some kind of coating or wax or whatever on it. So when we bought him a new ride a few months ago, the first thing he said was, "I need to get it tinted ASAP." But because he's so particular about his "whip," he spent awhile researching the best of the best places to do it. When obviously all he needed to do was turn to Yelp in the first place. The reasons Matt at TNT Tint has nothing but five-star reviews: 1) He's a small, local business owner running a one-man shop. He knows he has to provide outstanding customer service in order to spread good word-of-mouth, and he does. He's a consummate professional, but personable and *nice* as well. 2) He is a meticulous perfectionist. He's satisfied by nothing less than the absolute best quality of work on your car. He did an amazing job on husband's ride: not a bubble or blip or misstep to be seen anywhere on any of the windows he did. Including those funky-shaped, tiny little windows behind windows (you know what I'm talking about), and an unusually-curved rear window. 3) His prices beat anyone's. We paid $230 for 35% Char-Cool tint on 5+ windows. This was at least $50 cheaper than other places husband checked out. We did have to drop the car off and leave it for about two business days, but it wasn't a big deal. And its location is definitely off-the-beaten path at the very end of a nondescript row of nondescript business on South Pickett, but not too hard to find. Knowing what a pleasurable, easy experience it is to get tinting done at TNT, I'm thinking it just may be time to pimp out my eco-whip. read more

"New Car = New Tint job" It's a must... I'm really anal about things with my car. It has to be perfect. Don't spend xx,xxx for a car and have someone do a half-@ss job. So apparently, I was on a mission to get my windows tinted. After much research, I decided to take it to TNT and what a great job Matt did. It's a one-man shop. He's the receptionist. He's the tinter. He's the mechanic. He does all the tint jobs by hand and it was really impressive how precise the tint was. You would think he cut the tints with a machine. It follows the windows exactly. My windows also have this auto up/down thing to seal the doors when you open/close the doors. Matt even showed me how to disable that so the tint could properly dry and then enable it later. You get what you pay for and his work is definitely worth the price. I highly recommend this place and will be taking my future cars to him. read more

I had originally wanted to go to LA tint to get my windows tinted as a friend recommended that place. I called last year and received an estimate. The cost for my 09 Honda coupe would have been $250. Not only that, I was informed that I would have to pay cash and he was not able to give me a receipt (due to my request for tint over the legal limit). I had 2 appointments and had to cancel (due to unforeseen reasons). Boy am I glad I did not go! I began to research again 2 days ago for other shops and found TNT through Yelp. I immediately called for an estimate. For only $180, I was able to bring my car in next day and I was able to pay by card (which saved me a trip to the atm!) and I was able to get a receipt and lifetime warranty. Matt is very personable. Likes to talk to his customers the entire time so the wait isn't boring. He even let me cut the tint paper too (off course with his help though!). Not to mention, I learned a few gimmicks on my phone & Verizon carrier that I had absolutely no idea about! He even offered to teach me how to wax my car. I would have definitely have taken him up on that offer if I didn't have to go back to school so soon :( I highly recommend this place. I'm not a "car guy" at all. I have a Hyundai station wagon. So my decision to go to TNT Tint wasn't driven by wanting to pimp out my car or anything like that. I have a baby boy who didn't like the glare from the sun in his eyes and most of the cheap baby window shields out there are not very good. Sure, $200+ is a lot to pay just to keep the sun out of the kid's face but that's how much I love him! ;) Anyway, I think everything that needs to be said about the quality of the work here has been mentioned in other reviews. He does a great job. Matt did my tinting in just about 2 hours because I think it was a slow day for him. The only annoying thing about tinting in general, which is not TNT Tint's fault at all, are the tinting laws. Every state has their own tinting laws. I currently live in VA but am thinking about moving the DC. DC is much more restrictive with their tinting laws. I had a hard time deciding which level of tint to get -- I ended up getting the max allowed under VA law and I guess I'll just risk getting a ticket if I move to DC. TNT Tint will let you get "illegal" tinting because they are not liable if you get a ticket so just make sure you know the laws before going in. read more

It took me a while year to get my tinting done. First I couldn't find someone nearby, then I didn't want to pay 300, finally I didn't want to go to someone whose tinting would peel off. I finally looked to yelp and found Matt at TNT Tint and paid 260 dollars for the whole car. That included tinting the 2 front side, 4 rear side (including quarter windows), and 1 rear. Matt did a great job and had it ready within a few hours. He isn't near a metro and there isn't much to do around while waiting so its a good idea to get dropped off and picked up. read more

I had to have my previous side/rear window tint removed so I could pass DC inspection. Matt was able to remove the sometimes difficult rear window tint without damaging any of the heating element or antennae on the glass and he did in in an afternoon. The price for my tint removal was $130, which is around $10 more than most shops seem to be charging. Money well spent for quality work in my opinion. BMW owners take note: Matt specializes in BMWs, as does the tuning shop he works out of (Martin Motor Sports). I found the mechanics there to be both friendly and very knowledgeable. I decided to give this place it a shot since YELP has helped me in the past; the comments seemed to be stellar. I have a BMW 2011 335i xdrive and wanted to make sure only the best hands touched my car. All the reviews describe Matt perfectly well: funny, well done, professional, interesting, meticulous and a master to his trade. I arrived 30 minutes late to the appointment due to a scheduling fail and Matt still took the time to accommodate me and the next patron on time. For 90 minutes we spoke about motorcycles, legal rights behind real estate and tinting laws. He's the type of guy you buy a beer for at the bar and can talk to for hours about anything. The quality of his work is impeccable. His pricing is very competitive for his highly skilled labor. He's been tinting over 15 years (it shows.) He completed my BMW in about 90 minutes; says it's a streamline model and very easy to do since he's done so many (about 700 so far was his guestimate.) He was working on an M3 before I got there. If you have a BMW rest assured it will be perfect. Looks great! PS: His shop is located ON THE BACK CORNER of a gray building, not on the main street. I heard of this tint shop from a friend who was researching tint shops around the area. My boyfriend recently got burned by another tint shop so I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get ripped off and wanted to go to a highly experienced, best of the best tinter. Matt is definitely the person to go to. I brought my 2007 Honda Civic coupe to him. He runs the show here at TNT Tint. He is extremely knowledgeable and does a superb, beyond perfect job. He really takes care of his customers and is a huge perfectionist. Before handing your car back over, he gets inside again to double check his work and fixes up issues, if any. I left the shop with ZERO bubbles and ZERO flaws. It is so professional. I will recommend him to ANYONE who wants a tint job. He is the best in the area and his work shows it. I wouldn't waste your time going to anyone else. You should just go to him. As other Yelpers have said, he definitely is really easy to talk to and tells it like it is. He even called me halfway through the tint process to ask me some questions about my car that he noticed. The process takes about 2 hours -- it's worth the wait. He takes his time but the results are flawless. Very reasonable pricing for what you get. Tip: the shop is kind of hard to find, as there is no sign for it. It's located right next to Martin Motorsports but it's caddy-corner to the shop. I needed to get my windows tinted before summer came around and my black interior became a furnace. I went on Yelp to see who was the best around, and came across TNT. I called and Matt was really helpful, and perhaps most importantly, really available. I think I rescheduled like 5 times on him--to the point where he started teasing me about it! I dropped my car off in the morning, went to work in DC, and came back in the late afternoon--he's not a bad walk from Van Dorn Street Metro--to a nice, dark car. He gave me instructions on care and told me to come back if I have any problems or bubbles. It's been about 4 months and the tint looks great!
