Rating: Terrible We…read morehad an awful experience with Reading & Son Plumbing. I highly do not recommend their services, especially in a time of emergency or need. We were going into a weekend of hosting 60 people for our Mom's 90th Birthday when our sewage drain backed up on Thursday. We didn't have use of water and toilets. Our Insurance sent the job to Reading & Son Plumbing who sent a plumber that arrived at 3:30 PM on Friday afternoon. We were very happy to see this plumber and thought we were saved - very wrong we were. The plumber spent about 20 minutes on the drain and then reported it was getting wrapped and was too difficult to clear. We had had the drain snaked about 6 weeks prior when it took the guys two hours but they got through the roots and we had draining water again, so we knew that this job could be done if someone just spent the time on it. This plumber didn't want to hear it, packed up his tools, told us to rent a porta-potty and drove away, keen to start his weekend. Obviously, you can't host a weekend of 60 guests without being able to run water so this was an urgent and very stressful situation. Insurance approved a weekend overtime plumber and Jayda, who works for Reading, told us on the phone Friday after the plumber left that she would arrange for an overtime plumber to arrive on Saturday. We were really stressed at this point. She promised she would call us back with details of who and when. After waiting Friday night and Saturday morning with no return phone call from her and a no show on a plumber we were desperate. We couldn't get a hold of anyone at Reading, no one answered the after hours phone, and the emergency call line voicemail was full so we couldn't even leave a message. We were totally cut off - it's astonishing the utter lack of concern or care from the employees at Reading & Sons. Desperate, we had arranged for a porta-potty to arrive on Saturday morning and consulted the man who dropped off the porta-potty for his recommendation of a plumber. He recommended A & B Hunter Sewer Service who 1) answered their phone 2) came within 45 minutes of being called on a Saturday morning and 3) spent the more than two hours required to snake through the tree root and unclog our drain. We are forever grateful to Sam at A & B Hunter who was kind and empathetic and did what it took to get through the root and save our Mom's 90th Birthday Party. Thank you, Sam! We recommend A&B Hunter Sewer services if you need humans who care.

We noted the clock every time they showed up and departed and rounded every hour up and STILL the bill was always inflated by 2-3 hours. We stopped using their service because of this dishonesty and disrespect.

Now in 2023, I wanted it cleaned again and inspected since we had used it quite a bit for 3 years. Chimney Doctor came out and I was impressed. They protected my floors and white fireplace from dust and debris. There was 4" of gunk up in my fireplace chimney that he cleaned out. He also put the camera up to see if the chimney was healthy and made recommendations as well as sending me quotes for those options. Overall, his visit today was reasonably priced and I think the work was very thorough. They did say they don't normally come this far to my small town but I'm glad they did because I would recommend them again.

Called them less than a month ago to have them come and fix my AC. It was running but not blowing…read moreout cold air throughout the vents of the house. They came out and were here for 30 minutes or less, said I needed more freon so he put in 11 oz of that and charged me $58.50 for that, then said the air filters also needed cleaning so he used my hose to spray them out which he charged me $45.00 to use my hose and my water to clean out some air filters? That wasn't even the worst part. Their flat rate of "labor" costs for their time is $98.00 whether they're there for five minutes or an hour. In total the bill was 201.50 for 11 oz of freon, and something I could of done myself. Moral of the story: I called them back again today (three weeks after the first time the AC broke down) for the same issue, to have them come and fix it since they clearly didn't the first time, and they told me it would be $185.00 plus whatever the parts will cost to fix it. P.s. Don't even think about calling on the weekend because their labor rate is $185 non-negotiable and that's before the cost of "parts". Please, please do not waste your time or money. They will simply do the bare minimum so that they have to come back within a few short weeks, and you have to spend another $100+ for their precious time. P.s.s Their customer service is terrible, was quite upset they quoted me so high after not fixing it the first time and the lady just told me "call someone else then". Fine by me, I'd rather give my money to some other business than a greedy one.

Blake worked extensively with the manufacturer to figure out the problem and get it fixed. He replaced the component and followed up to make sure the issue was resolved successfully

Turned out to be a very minor fix, but he was very thorough, knowledgeable, and informative...and he put on shoe covers as soon as he entered our house so he wouldn't track any dust/dirt into our house, which was nice!
