Our water heater went out, and on April 15, 2026, Bently installed the replacement. During the installation, my husband and a friend witnessed the stairs being damaged as the dolly was taken down. They immediately told Bently, who said he would inform his boss and follow up. We never heard back. My husband called several times with no return call. I called on 4/27 and spoke with Patrick, who added me to Shawn Ogborn's call list. No response. I called again on 5/27 -- added to the call list again. Called on July 1 -- same thing. I finally received a call at 7:07 PM on 7/1, but missed it. I called back the next morning and was placed on the call list yet again. Shawn finally called on 7/8 and asked for pictures of the damage. I sent multiple photos and a video. Shawn later claimed the damage was "normal wear and tear," insisted Bently used a tarp, and stated my husband never mentioned the issue -- which is simply not true. We had the stairs replaced with real wood last June, and they were in perfect condition. Another witness also saw the damage occur and heard the conversation with Bently. It's clear they have no intention of repairing the stairs. Something this minor could easily be handled through insurance, yet my 20 years of loyalty meant nothing. I support local, family‑owned businesses, but this company has shown they value money over long‑term customers. I was dismissed, disrespected, and essentially accused of lying before being hung up on. Truly disappointing.

Rating: Terrible We…read morehad an awful experience with Reading & Son Plumbing. I highly do not recommend their services, especially in a time of emergency or need. We were going into a weekend of hosting 60 people for our Mom's 90th Birthday when our sewage drain backed up on Thursday. We didn't have use of water and toilets. Our Insurance sent the job to Reading & Son Plumbing who sent a plumber that arrived at 3:30 PM on Friday afternoon. We were very happy to see this plumber and thought we were saved - very wrong we were. The plumber spent about 20 minutes on the drain and then reported it was getting wrapped and was too difficult to clear. We had had the drain snaked about 6 weeks prior when it took the guys two hours but they got through the roots and we had draining water again, so we knew that this job could be done if someone just spent the time on it. This plumber didn't want to hear it, packed up his tools, told us to rent a porta-potty and drove away, keen to start his weekend. Obviously, you can't host a weekend of 60 guests without being able to run water so this was an urgent and very stressful situation. Insurance approved a weekend overtime plumber and Jayda, who works for Reading, told us on the phone Friday after the plumber left that she would arrange for an overtime plumber to arrive on Saturday. We were really stressed at this point. She promised she would call us back with details of who and when. After waiting Friday night and Saturday morning with no return phone call from her and a no show on a plumber we were desperate. We couldn't get a hold of anyone at Reading, no one answered the after hours phone, and the emergency call line voicemail was full so we couldn't even leave a message. We were totally cut off - it's astonishing the utter lack of concern or care from the employees at Reading & Sons. Desperate, we had arranged for a porta-potty to arrive on Saturday morning and consulted the man who dropped off the porta-potty for his recommendation of a plumber. He recommended A & B Hunter Sewer Service who 1) answered their phone 2) came within 45 minutes of being called on a Saturday morning and 3) spent the more than two hours required to snake through the tree root and unclog our drain. We are forever grateful to Sam at A & B Hunter who was kind and empathetic and did what it took to get through the root and save our Mom's 90th Birthday Party. Thank you, Sam! We recommend A&B Hunter Sewer services if you need humans who care.

They waived the gas detector around for 5 minutes and nothing. So while I had them, I asked for a quote for a tankless water heater to kill two birds and never got that. The BILL was $331!!!!!! I could have bought several gas detectors for that price. Not only that, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called them several times (once on 12/24/25 and then again on 2/12/26) to verify they coded the bill right and they refused to return my call and just started jacking on service charges to the bills. The crappy thing is, I had to find this out on my own. The guys shut off the valve. Then never turned it back on. So when I went to turn it on, it flooded the valve box. Called that company and they advised it could've cracked due to another cause (but that's another review for later) getting no help from the egress contractor, I called TCI, they were busy, but said they could get out in two days, they were courteous, accommodating, did quality work, for a reasonable price. They were on time, diagnosed the issue straight away and completed the job quickly (2 hours) I got the bill about a month later. Very reasonable!! Would highly recommend!
