I would not recommend TLC Vision to anyone, your eyes are to important. TLCVision is a sham of a practice. If would would like to see proof the type of used car salesmans this Business uses just look below, there is a picture to document it. I was told I was eligible for Lasik's surgery by Dr Alison Zambelli but on the day of surgery she tried to tell me I was only eligible for PRK ( a much different surgery). TLC Laser Eye Centers - Bait & Switch - Optometrists Near Me - Sewickley, Pennsylvania

I had a pretty bad consultation appointment at TLC today. I chose this LASIK provider because they were recommended to me by my Optometrist. I will say that from my experience they certainly do not live up to their name. I arrived right on time for my appointment. I filled out some questions and then waited for 50 minutes before someone took me back to be seen. At no point did the reception staff alert me that there would be a long wait, offer to help me reschedule or inquire about my plans for the day. About 30 minutes into my wait a storm started and the building had a power surge. This seemed to cause a lot of problems for the staff and I understand these things come up. 20 minutes later I decided that in 10 minutes I'm leaving no matter what happens next. Shortly after that my name was called and one of the employees took me into a room to have 3 different scans done on my eyes. This went fine until the third scan. She kept telling me my eyelashes were too long and had to get another employee to complete the scan for her. I do not have lash extensions nor is my eye make up excessive. Next we went to a 2nd room where she asked me more questions, many of which I had already answered in the waiting room. Then she asked me how well I wanted her to explain the lasik procedure to me. I found this unsettling and bizarre. Maybe it's me, but when I'm considering spending nearly $5000 on surgery to my eyes yes I would like a thorough understanding of the process. After her explanation, which didn't last long. I was told to wait for the Doctor. At this point I had spent about an hour and 45 minutes at the facility. I had to get out of there. I had plans for later in the day and I knew that now I would be rushing to get to my next stop. When I alerted another staff member of my situation she pulled me into another room and tried to start talking to me about pricing and financing. I had already told her that I needed to get going. At this point I honestly don't know if I will return. On one hand, the staff here already have some of my information so, the ball is rolling. On the other hand this entire experience made me uncomfortable and certainly did not inspire me with any confidence about having eye surgery performed at this facility. TBD I guess. read more

Really not even sure what to say, but I'll give it a try. I went to TLC for a consultation and here's how mine went down, your mileage may differ. Greeted by a friendly face at the front door who checked me and and ensured that my registration was done. Short wait until my appointment time and they were prompt. No noticeable wait after my scheduled time. A friendly tech grabbed me from the waiting room and guided me to a different area to perform three scans on my eyes for the drs to review. This went well, the tech was well trained and personable. She then took me back to a traditional eye exam room for a few more test on my eyes. After finishing with the tech, the wait for the dr was short. Again everything still good. Once the dr came into the room is where things start going poorly. The dr was friendly and quickly reviewed my earlier tests and then took a few additional measurements. No observations the dr made were communicated to me, nor did the dr make any attempt to explain the recommended procedure. The dr finished gathering her data said that I was a great candidate, expects the procedure to go great, and have great results. Basically verbatim. I had mere moments to try to gather my thoughts for any intelligible questions I could muster before the dr quickly left the room. My mind was spinning. I consider myself an informed consumer and I've researched lasik prior to my consultation. I would have liked the dr to me specifically about how this procedure would work for my eyes. What I could expect other than it being "great." I'm not sure how a consultation leaves a potential customer with the exact same knowledge as before walking through the door. Soon thereafter, I was brought from the exam room to another associates office. There I was given a price quote and expected to instantly choose a surgery date. Safe to say I did not schedule. I politely said that I would need to talk this over with my spouse. Oof I understand that this is a volume based business. But we're talking a very expensive irreversible procedure and they couldn't take 5 min to personalize my consultation. Telling me what they're doing and why. Telling me what all the scans they took mean and how that info is used for the surgery to optimize my result. But no I left with zero new information more questions than answers and 45 min of wasted time. read more

I had PRK done with TLC exactly 1 week ago. I couldn't be any happier with my experience. I consulted with all 3 lasik options in the Wexford area and TLC was by far the best. The facility is clean and comfortable and the customer service was unbeatable. We arrived and the employees were chatting with one another - a new baby came to visit and they all genuinely seemed to work well with one another and like one another. It was extremely refreshing to see. I was taken on time - I had multiple scans and tests and moved seamlessly through each of them. All of the ladies explained each step of the way, I felt informed and comfortable. The employees were all friendly, sincere, genuine, educated and compassionate. I never felt pressured or rushed in any way. I knew within minutes that TLC was the place I wanted to have my procedure. TLC works with your current ophthalmologist which I found really convenient until I wasn't confident in my ophthalmologist office any further. I contacted TLC who assured me that we would figure out a solution so I didn't have to delay my procedure and they couldn't have been more helpful in doing so. I found a new ophthalmologist who was going to be away for a week in the middle of my recovery. TLC coordinates with them to make sure that I could be seen at TLC or my ophthalmologist any time I needed. I felt at ease and it was so nice that I didn't have to be in the middle of it. I went to TLC for my consultation and preop appointment. I was supposed to see my personal ophthalmologist for my dilation exam, but wasn't confident in the care I would receive there so TLC let me come to them to have it done. Dr. Williams performed my procedure and was warm, friendly and reassuring. Each time I was there, my eyes were checked and rechecked. I felt like they took my vision and eyes as seriously as I did. Dr. Lushko was there for my dilation appointment, my surgery day and 1 day post op appt. I saw the other gentleman doctor (I can't remember his name) for my preop consultation and day 4 appointment. Both were fantastic. On the day of my procedure, we were welcomed and made extremely comfortable. The office even sets out a basket of snacks for patients and their families since the appointment is longer. Each time we arrived, we were offered something to drink from their large selection (coffees, assorted teas, hot chocolate, water, several different pop) and asked if we needed anything else. I had a hard time with the actual procedure, but everyone in the room rallied around me and got me through it. Dr. Lushko stood over me and talked to me the entire time. She also took me to the exam room after and noticed my pale color and got me ginger ale and encouraged me to have to some candy to increase my blood sugar. I was absolutely blown away by the care and compassion I received. I felt like I had family around me more than employees of a laser surgery center. My ophthalmologist was unable to see me for my day 1 post op exam, so I came to TLC and saw Dr. Lushko. I felt so taken care of and was extremely confident in her and the entire team. I saw my ophthalmologist on day 3, but came back to TLC on day 4 to have my contacts removed. The other thing that stood out was the communication between all of the TLC staff members. Each time I called, Ruth knew who I was and why I was calling. If Emily wasn't going to be there, she spoke with her coworker. Everyone was kept up to speed and in the loop. I always got answers, I always got return calls. Not only did they communicate with me, but they communicated with one another. I genuinely couldn't recommend anybody other than TLC. Their employees went above and beyond. I couldn't be any happier with my experience. I will truly miss these ladies and they have put the bar high for the other businesses. All 3 options have extremely similar pricing - I encourage you to visit them all. I originally chose TLC because they have the newest technology with the largest treatment area of the lasers which increases success, but in the end I am even more thankful because of the people I worked with. read more

Getting Lasik at TLC is one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has been almost 3 years since I had my Lasik surgery from Dr. Arfa. I would definitely recommend at least going in for a consultation to anyone who is interested in laser eye surgery. TLC offers a free consultation where the Lasik process is explained to you. The consultants, who are both doctors and assistants, answered all my questions. They also do an eye exam and send you to your own eye doctor for another exam to make sure Lasik or PRK is right for you. I had some issues with dry eyes, and had to be on a regimen of Restasis and other eye drops for several months before they would perform the surgery. There was a possibility I would have to get PRK, or no surgery at all, if my dryness did not improve. My personal eye doctors were involved in the process, and also recommended TLC, provided my dryness improved. It did improve, and I was able to get Lasik. The Lasik process was explained to me numerous times in the months before my surgery. I knew exactly what to expect, right down to what the lasers would smell like. The surgery itself takes about 30 seconds per eye, but I was at the office for a few hours for pre- and post- exams and monitoring. The surgery is painless, but the Clockwork Orange-style speculum they use to keep the eye open is very uncomfortable. That was the worst part, but it was over very quickly. The recovery time is amazing. I had some pretty severe burning in my eyes on the way home (you need someone to drive you, by the way). I went home and took a nap, as directed. As soon as I woke up, all discomfort was gone, and I could see perfectly. I was released to drive the next morning. I saw some halos at night for about 2 weeks, and then never had another side effect or problem. There are several drops and steroids you have to use for a few days to a few weeks. You also have to sleep with shields on your eyes for the first 3 days or so. It is a bit of a pain, but certainly manageable. TLC is definitely not the cheapest place you can go for Lasik, but I wasn't looking for a bargain when messing with something as essential as my vision. I got a 10% discount with vision insurance. I'm surprised to see Selena G.'s review because I didn't experience anything like that, but I didn't meet Dr. Penny or Stefanie. I was there in 2010, and I hope the quality hasn't decreased since my visit. read more

I just had Lasik surgery Feburary 21st. I went in for my consultation a week prior and they answered all my questions. I was i think more concerned that they just wanted "numbers" but i asked and they stated that not everyone gets approved for LASIK or PRK through them. Which eased my fears a bit.Surgery Day - went very well. I do have to say that they must book like 4 people at the same "time" and day. So there were 4 of us i think that got there at 1:15 and i didnt get taken back until 315. Needless to say i was antsy and had to keep my self calm. But after the doctor came and looked at my eyes she gave me the sedative and i started calming down. During - its very intimidating to say the least. The team does do their best to calm you down and make you comfortable which is great. It did help for the most part. it was cool taking off my glasses prior to the procedure and then once it was down sitting up and being able to "see" without them. The smell you notice IS NOT YOUR EYE its the laser. so dont panic. The doctor walked me through and told me what was going on next. Not in detail but just so i could some what anticipate it. I wont lie when the laser creates the flap... it was one of the most uncomfortable things i could have endured. But honestly before you even can say "ok this is enough" its done. Its more pressure than pain. If this is something you are considering and are able to do. I highly recommend going here. My friend went a few years ago and she said it was the best thing she has ever done. And i do have to agree with her. its life changing. I cried the second i sat up on the table. I have had glasses since i was 6 - so 25 years of glasses or contacts. read more

I had my Lasik performed around 4 years ago at TLC. The staff were all very friendly, professional, and welcoming. The procedure was very quick and straightforward. I was in and out before I knew it. It was quite an experience walking in with poor eyesight, and walking out with perfect vision and not needing to rely on glasses or contacts. I went in for a consultation and was told that my eye sight had changed entirely too much to be able to get LASIK or PRK at this time. However, I went back to my normal eye doctor who assured me my vision has not changed at all and I went to a different LASIK place and they, too, assured me that my vision has not changed. Thanks to TLC I had to postpone all of my life plans and applications to the police academy and my time off from work all for no reason at all. I DO NOT reccommend this place based upon my interactions with Dr. Penny (the consultation doctor). I had no experience with Dr. Arffa (the surgeon) so I cannot speak on behalf of him. read more

I went into surgery with large pupils that TLC had not informed me that this would cause permanent and irreversible damage to my eyes. My life is destroyed now. I can not longer go outside at nights because I get massive star burst that make me a dangerous driver. My Television shows me two images of white on black text, I can no longer enjoy things I once loved like going to a night to party and looking at Christmas lights on houses. I was only informed of the large pupils causing this issue after they had taken my money and did the surgery. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR EYES. From my understanding this place is full of sales people who will screw over anyone to get a sale. When I went back to complain about theses issues six months later after the healing period they basically told me to go pound sand. I hope who ever plans on going to this place finds this review and changes there mind. I already screwed up my vision for life but there are some who can still save theirs. read more

I just had my eyes done this March and couldn't be happier with the results. I was seeing 20/20 seconds after the procedure and could get back to my normal daily routine very quickly everyone from the surgeon to the staff were very welcoming and answered any question that I had for them. To be able to see when I get up n the morning - when I ride my motorcycle - at the beach swimming! It is definatley a life changing experience. I had Dr. Whitten when he was there.
