Cafe is spacious and clean, and is connected to a brewery where, if you're inclined to do so, they will bring your food over to you while you sit there. The Brewery has board games you can play at your table and a variety of pinball machines. SERVICE - service was....ok. I was asking the guy about one of the toppings on the sandwich and he looked at me like I was an alien. Maybe it was his first day? Not sure. He was nice, but not as knowledgeable as you might like for someone working the register. MENU - they had a pretty good mix of sandwiches (hot and cold), and also had a few sides. I also saw they had some homemade lemonades and such, which I was tempted to try, but did not end up trying instead. FOOD - my wife and mother got the badlands sandwich which had roasted sirloin mushrooms, swiss and and side of horeradish mayo. My mom and I both did the rapid city which kind of seemed like a philly cheesesteak sandwich (grilled beef, onions, peppers, jalapenos, smoked gouda with a lime cilantro), while my kids rocked the pastrami. The sandwiches were a pretty good size (at almost $20 a piece, they better be). My kids thought the pastrami was good and after days of burgers, it was a nice change up. My wife liked her sandwich, which was mostly carried by the horseradish mayo. My mom and I thought our sandwiches were just...ok. The meat needed salt, and the lime cilantro was not very flavorful. I ended up stealing some of my wife's horseradish mayo which helped, but just a bit. OVERALL - good not great. Wish the meat was a little more flavorful and the food came out a bit quicker (there was only one order ahead of us and it took a good 20-30 minutes to get our food). Not sure I'd come back. Upon entering, we were cheerfully greeted by the staff behind the counter. We ordered a 6" sub to split as we weren't that hungry. Our friend had a 12" sub which was absolutely amazing! The bread was fresh (Italian herb was the BEST), the choice of ingredients on the sandwich plentiful, and the amount placed on the sub more than sufficient. We sat inside the restaurant to eat, and then decided to top off the meal we needed a soft serve ice cream cone! Choice of vanilla or chocolate or a twist of both, the small cone was only $1! We loved this place so much that before we left on our vacation to come home, we had to drive back to Sturgis for another lunch meal! Got me good - migraine immediately, and they lost a star for not being aware or informed of food allergies. Corporations say MSG is natural and doesn't harm us. FALSE! MSG occurs naturally in nature in minute teeny tiny little amounts. The stuff that's in the food is made in factories and is a chemical. It is attitude or food because the moment it hits her tongue, and neurotransmitter sends it to the brain and says "OMG! This is the most amazing stuff ever!" (Think of your bag of Doritos that disappears so quickly, even when you're no longer hungry.) it also hides in labels as "natural flavors, spices, seaweed...". Rarely will it ever say monosodium glutamate, because the rule is if I add it I have to put on the label. But if I buy it from you in spices or flavoring, then all I have to put in is "spices or natural flavoring". Our meal was excellent. At Claudia's recommendation we have the aloha burger with chicken instead of beef. Really super tasty and perfectly cooked. The French fries and sweet potato fries were outstanding and perfectly cooked. If it wasn't for the MSG, we would have returned. If you can finish your meal with no headaches, then this is the place for you to go! People were there having a great time during the last days of Sturgis, the drinks looked tasty and the food was well cooked and quickly delivered. Our server, Claudia, was amazing! The restaurant itself does not have a restroom right there, you have to go out the main restaurant door and down the hall to the right where you'll see the signage on the left after two or three shops. My recommendation is that if you have children, please don't let them go by themselves. Make sure an adult goes with them. I do have to say the restrooms were very clean and well taken care of. If the chocolate shop next-door to Salt Block Burgers had been open, I would definitely have stopped in there, because their homemade chocolates looked delicious! How are they closed at 5 PM. During nice weather the view from the outdoor area would be well worth hanging out outside. The day we were there was very cold and windy, and only one couple with the dog were at the outdoor deck. We greatly enjoyed the view from the window next to us. There was also plenty of parking available. We parked at the far right end of the building, which meant there were stairs to go up into the mall/restaurant entry. Our best bet would have been to have parked several stores down to the left where they had doors into the mall/walkway, that had no stairs. Then turn right to go down the hallway to the restaurant.
