I don't know what it's like when it's busy because on the day we arrived, the entire area was a ghost town. Not even sleepy - no cars on the road and this cafe was even still opening. Walk in, order and find a seat. Not a lot of seating but there's both indoors and out. We chose to sit indoors as it was a little warm and I didn't want to be out under the sun. See pics of the food. Wanted salad. I tend to always want salad. Went with the Springfield. Crisp and fresh - really enjoyed the toppings and dressing. Harmony. That's how I'd describe this salad. I'd definitely have it again. Grabbed the Hot Springs. Wanted a cold sandwich. Wanted an Italian. Closest I could find and the vinaigrette was even on the side so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. I remember enjoying this sandwich so much I considered grabbing a second for the road. However, we're traveling and gotta try other foods and places. This would be one place I'd go back to if or when I find myself back in Rapid City. This cafe is connected to the brewery (Hay Camp Brewing). In fact, that's where the restrooms are if you need it.

After being inundated with burgers, I felt like something a little lighter/healthier was in order. AMBIANCE - just off the main strip of downtown Rapid City you'll find this cafe. Cafe is spacious and clean, and is connected to a brewery where, if you're inclined to do so, they will bring your food over to you while you sit there. The Brewery has board games you can play at your table and a variety of pinball machines. SERVICE - service was....ok. I was asking the guy about one of the toppings on the sandwich and he looked at me like I was an alien. Maybe it was his first day? Not sure. He was nice, but not as knowledgeable as you might like for someone working the register. MENU - they had a pretty good mix of sandwiches (hot and cold), and also had a few sides. I also saw they had some homemade lemonades and such, which I was tempted to try, but did not end up trying instead. FOOD - my wife and mother got the badlands sandwich which had roasted sirloin mushrooms, swiss and and side of horeradish mayo. My mom and I both did the rapid city which kind of seemed like a philly cheesesteak sandwich (grilled beef, onions, peppers, jalapenos, smoked gouda with a lime cilantro), while my kids rocked the pastrami. The sandwiches were a pretty good size (at almost $20 a piece, they better be). My kids thought the pastrami was good and after days of burgers, it was a nice change up. My wife liked her sandwich, which was mostly carried by the horseradish mayo. My mom and I thought our sandwiches were just...ok. The meat needed salt, and the lime cilantro was not very flavorful. I ended up stealing some of my wife's horseradish mayo which helped, but just a bit. OVERALL - good not great. Wish the meat was a little more flavorful and the food came out a bit quicker (there was only one order ahead of us and it took a good 20-30 minutes to get our food). Not sure I'd come back. They even were really accommodating for my son who just wanted a plain ol' meat and cheese sandwich (and they'll conveniently wrap up what you don't eat to take home!). I was so happy they had gluten-free bread available. Then the question was if I could have some of the meats so they were happy to look at the ingredient lists for me, which I really appreciated. I got the Italian and it was loaded with meat, mostly pepperoni, which quite honestly I would have done differently. I would have placed more emphasis on the other meats, but still, it was very good. Now were I dock a star is the sad gluten-free bread they gave me. It was clearly the last two slices of the loaf (yes, I got the butt) and if you know gluten-free bread, you know those slices at the ends are VERY SMALL. They don't like quite so small in my photo, but they were. I would personally not have served a sandwich using those. It made it hard to eat because the meat was so much larger and really, I kinda just felt like I was gypped a little. The interior itself isn't anything special...at all, lol. But I can get over that when they at least had a few tables to sit at and the employees were helpful and kind. I would make your way here if you're passing through!

It looks like your aunt's house and the food was just like you'd want and expect. Had a BLT and a club. One with fries and the other with tots. Yes tots! I was thrilled to have tots with my club. Sandwiches were good but, man those fries and tots were awesome. Tasted like double fried. Wish I'd ordered the onion rings too after we had these. We had bottomless iced teas and a nice waitress who handled the whole place with grace and humor. This was exactly the lunch we needed and so glad we got out of Wall and drove down the road apiece. Not sure where the casino was as we were only in a small cozy restaurant.

The menu has tons of burger and sandwich options. My boyfriend loved the mushrooms, onions, and cheese on the Cowboy burger. I went with the Philly cheesesteak. The bread was soft and fresh, a perfect vehicle for the delicious steak, veggies, and cheese. The potato salad was a fresh alternative to the fried options. Don't skip the pie, it is wonderful!! The crust was flakey and the strawberry rhubarb was the perfect mix of sweet and tart!
