The guy with blue eyes behind the bar asked how long I was in town for, hoping that I would come back after being turned away... NO THANK YOU . Excellent service for my first hour in Ireland . Update 04-28-2026: wow, I can't believe how both the business and employee (Pearse Duffy) both responded. Completely unprofessional, Dishonest, and Disrespectful treatment of a traveler who just wanted a warm meal. Whatever you're talking about having "all orders 2 hrs before posted time" isn't working because the tall Asian woman in the white sweater walked in and out, just after I did. So I'm not the only one who is being mislead and dismissed for your ignorance and arrogance. You clearly need to make your hours more obvious, change how you display them, or do something else, because I am not the only person having this problem. What you're current doing regarding your hours, or handling of negative reviews is not working! I posted this review to help both this business and any future potential customers from making the same mistake that I did. The correct response would be : I'm so sorry that happened to you, will change it right away. But to call me obnoxious for pointing out a valid criticism? Bizarre behavior from an established restaurant. As for Pearse Duffy, the disgruntled employee who turned me away after laughing at me, noted that it is his 2nd week working in the harassing Facebook message that he sent me, and it shows... The correct response would have been; I'll tell my manager right now to update the hours on Google so that this doesn't happen again. I'm so sorry, what can I do to make this right? Not laughing at me, stalking me, and sending me a harassing message on my Facebook profile. If he contacts me again, I will be submitting all of this information to the local authorities, and filing a police report. This is not how you handle an upset customer, as either a business or an employee. This is exactly how you ruin your reputation and get fired. Stalking an upset customer and then sending them a harassing message over an honest review is grounds for immediate dismissal in any industry. This is a terrible look for your employee, your management, and your business. This is no way to handle a business or a customer, I hope someone who knows how to sees this updated review.

Both dishes were delicious- I'd almost rate the chowder spectacular. My wife is a vegetarian, and she loved whatever it was that she had, she said i need to pay more attention to her - hmmm. Anyway, she said she can't wait to go back to try one of the other veggie dishes. The service was really good, not rushed nor too slow. Staff are very friendly, especially are server Claire (thank you for being so patient Claire with a K- we were a tad loud). If you haven't tried The Temple, give it a go, everything was well priced and tasty. Btw, parking is easy around the back.

The portions are still very good for the likes of Chicken Tempura, but I couldn't believe what they did with the lasagne. Now, I know basically how restaurants work, re chef's bonuses and things like that, but on two occasions I was there, the lack of meat in the lasagne was astonishing (I got it on the first occasion, and on another visit with another friend, my friend got it, even though I had warned them about it). It's no exaggeration to say that, on both of those occasions, there was less meat in the lasagne than I've had in frozen lasagnes from supermarkets - I really was taken aback, and contemplated sending it back, but I'm sometimes wary when it comes to complaining about food when the same chef I've just criticised will be preparing my next meal - I always vote with my feet, though, and have only been back for a few friends' birthdays, never venturing near the lasagne again. People find it difficult enough in times like these to get out for a meal, so on the occasion that you do get out, you want to make sure you're getting well fed. The Temple may have gone too far, as it no longer opens for breakfast, and also introduced a two-course special before 7 o'clock a while back to try and stimulate business. Aside from all that, the place does have a nice homely feel, decorated with wood and bare brick, and a fire. The waiting staff are very friendly and attentive, but good decor and good staff are never going to be the factors that make a restaurant prosper.

There was a 10/15 minute wait for a table but that was grand after all its sunday morning brunch time. I ordered the best of the market breakfast (see pic) and asked for my tea to be served at the same time. Food came out quickly but I didnt get asked if I wanted any condiments, had to ask myself. I was about half way through breakfast as well before I had to remind them id also ordered a tea. This came without milk so had to ask for that too. So the food itself was good, ive had better, ive had worse. I didnt like the very crispy slice of fried soda, personally I prefer a nice soft soda farl to mop up sauces and egg. Potato bread was ok and the rest nice but not mind blowing. Overall its not bad. Lovely setting, friendly, if not forgetful staff. Id come back but ive had better breakfasts. Maybe try a lunch or a dinner next time.

I visited yesterday (Saturday 14.05.2016) with my sister and we had an extremely enjoyable leisurely lunch sitting on said balcony, watching bustling St George's Market, soaking up atmosphere and listening to wonderful live music. Service was good and there were a few Vegetarian options on the menu. It's a pity these Vegetarian dishes aren't more clearly marked with a (V) plus a few more Vegetarian dishes would be great, but at least they are there. Caroline S ordered a Veggie Breakfast (£6.75) which was the most impressive looking Vegetarian Fry I've ever seen, plus she assured me it tasted fantastic. I opted for a pasta dish with butternut squash, walnuts, onion and rosemary (£6.95). Delicious food in generous portions at reasonable prices. We managed to work our way through glasses of Pinot Grigio, Rose and Prosecco. St George's Market Bar and Grill also do the most amazing pure apple juice and Prosecco cocktail which we thought the best Prosecco based cocktail we have ever tried. Most of the restaurant ingredients are fresh and local, coming from the market itself. We arrived at just before 1pm and stayed until after 3pm as we had such a wonderful time there. Even inside this restaurant is beautiful due to natural light coming through a skylight rooftop, however the best tables are definitely on the balcony. I'm already plotting my return...
