I have worked with Gaudioso Contracting on several successful projects. One of the first jobs we worked on together was when Anthony Gaudioso's team rebuilt the street facade of a row house in BedStuy, Brooklyn, for me. His guys first got to the bottom of what had been done incorrectly by the previous cheapo contractor. They started by removing the other guys' mistakes. Anthony's guys then rebuilt the 3-storey street facade and stoop, created a fanlight over the entry door, ran appropriate wiring for new sconces that would flank the parlor-level entry way and illuminate the garden level entrance. They made sure to waterproof it all thoroughly. When the exterior was watertight, they then repaired the fairly extensive inside water damage. The finish facade, which had been approved by public hearing before the Landmarks Preservation Commission, was going to be a faux-brownstone stucco. When the client had purchased the row house, the street facade was covered in a multicolored, faux flagstone slathered on top of the wood building structure. The new finish facade required a new application of stucco as a faux-brownstone. Gaudioso Contracting provided several different color samples of the stucco finish (matched to other brownstones on the block), and as well as, color samples of alternative window colors, and entry door colors, for the Landmarks inspector's approval. As part of the stucco application process, they built up the elegant window and entry door surround details to satisfy the Landmarks Preservation Commission's inspector. They also brought in Adler Windows to replace all the water-damaged, crumbling, wooden double-hung windows with new thermal paned, powder coated, aluminum windows with appropriate brick molding to satisfy the Landmarks inspector. Gaudioso Contracting also built, painted and installed a replica of the neighboring brownstone's cornice which Landmarks approved. Their work was terrific. Each phase of the work moved smoothly and had expertly skilled craftsmen who specialized in the particular aspect of the job in hand at the time. They were on time and on budget. I was delighted with their reliability, responsiveness and professionalism.

Their pricing was competitive and they provided several options in terms of materials that could be used for the new driveway. As I got other estimates, I liked that they consistently checked in with me but didn't pressure me. I also appreciated that they were the only contractors that talked about what permits would be required and that the estimate included Delta pulling the appropriate permits. During the job, they showed up on time and worked incredibly hard every day. All of their employees were respectful and friendly I liked that they are a family-owned operation and there were several members of the family working the job. The driveway came out perfectly. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

I have nothing against Bobby and his crew personally (they're all very nice people) but they do not have the skills to handle any kind of detail or finish work. And Bobby does not stay on top of his crew and he did not supervise the work sufficiently. Example #1: We asked them to install a butcher block counter top. When they finished the counter top still had filler in spaces and we had to call them back to scrape it away. And then within one week of the installation, the material they used to fill cracks where the countertop butted up against the backsplash had started to crack. Three months after the installation one piece of the backsplash came away and I had to reglue it myself. Example #2: They installed a hardwood floor in the living room and bedrooms. They didn't install a saddle between the living room and the kitchen (a transition to vinyl tile). When asked to rectify it, they cut down a piece of base molding and then didn't even bother to polyurethane or finish the piece of wood at all. Example #3: We bought four solid wood doors to replace existing hollow core doors. They had to paint them but did not paint the bottom and top surfaces of the doors (when they're installed you won't see these edges as they're butted up against the floor and ceiling respectively). As a result, moisture has penetrated the doors and they have changed size. Now I'm going to have to wait until fall to wait for the humidity to drop and the doors should shrink back (hopefully) and then I'll have to get them repainted. Example #4: The vinyl floor in the kitchen had a big bump in one spot. We asked them to remove the tile where the bump was, and re-level that spot. The did do that, but there was still a small high spot. These are just four examples of the quality of Delta Contractors's work. They may be great at doing stucco work or repaving driveways. But if you want quality interior work done, look elsewhere.

Unfortunately, after that things have gone significantly downhill. When the painters left they pushed all of my living room furniture to the middle of the room and said when the crew came back the following week to paint the baseboards and install the doors they'd put everything back. That happened on March 22nd. Since then, week after week they keep promising to try to come back and week after week they are no shows. I even explained to them that our building is expected to have a freeze on construction projects this week due to an impending strike so can they please wrap up this job before then, and they said yes but are now not responding to emails. I hope they ultimately make good on their service contract and I will update this review if that happens. For now, please steer clear, fellow yelpers.

Bolo also runs professional cleaning services, so the place was spotless when they finished since I elected their thorough service.
