There's also a store called "Pop Up Newport" that sold some great smelling lotions and soaps, as well as Panera's which was a great place to stop for a cold drink and a break from the heat. I also love that there is a separate parking lot for shoppers and if you make a purchase anywhere in the mall, you can get your parking ticket validated and get the first hour for free. Otherwise, I think it was $4 for every half hour. We were there for about an hour and a half and paid $5 for parking, which wasn't too bad, considering what other places charge and that finding meters to park at can be challenging in the middle of the busy summer season!

This is probably the strangest Walmart I've ever patronized, and I'm not quite sure why it is set up the way it is, to be honest (I think it stays alive because there's an actual grocery store a few doors down). It's odd - like parts of it are what you might see in any other Walmart (outdoors/bikes for example), but it's almost more heavy on the clothing side and less so on the household goods and groceries side. It's like an abbreviated version of a standard Walmart. They have a much smaller selection than a regular Walmart, and there is zero produce. The reefer/freezer section is one aisle (frozen on one side, refrigerated on the other). The service seems fine (I used self-checkout both times I went, so can't say for sure), but just know that if you're expecting a regular Walmart, that's not what you're going to find here.

It's one of those stores you have to check often to see what they have in stock. They rotate seasonal and holiday items with any unsold items going into the discount bin after the holiday. They have good prices on clothes and I always check out the sales racks. Clothes are offered for all ages with big changing rooms at the end. The layout here is similar to other Marshalls in this area. With lots of kitchen items it makes sense to check here first. They offer different items than you'll find at other stores which often have the same items at different price points and the prices are good here. I often find things at Marshalls I've been looking for elsewhere. Pots, bowls, linens, utensils. It's all here, plus some food items. One line forms for all the registers and of course they have impulse buys along the way. Candles, personal care items, socks, mittens, lunch boxes, you name it. All cute and desirable. Lots of parking in the lot out front.

It's easy enough to get into the department store from there. The entrance on the right has steps. Both entrances have automatic doors. Parking lot has 'one way' rows and there is plenty of parking with handicapped spots closets to the doors. A cart carousel is also available in the parking area. Public restrooms are available inside. Inventory include items for home such as bedding, towels, kitchen needs and so on. Other departments include items for home office/school supplies, cards/gift wrapping, clothes, cleaning products, H&B, etc. Prices are a bit high but if you live on base it's very convenient. NEX has a member app that accumulates points for discounts.

My wife tripped on the step inside the store, and fell down on the floor. She twisted her ankle…read more This was on Friday, Feb 28, at 11:40 am. The woman that was working in the store was literally 5 feet away, but she didn't say anything or offer any help at all. She just kept gossiping with another customer, even though she saw my wife fall down. Unacceptable behavior. On the only positive side, the clerk did greet us when we walked into the store. Note that there are two small steps inside the store, and my wife tripped on the 2nd step. My wife saw the first step, but didn't anticipate a 2nd step a small distance away, since this is not typical. The sign was no help. Perhaps the store should consider getting rid of the steps and installing a ramped-floor instead.

There were 3 women working there, not one of them asked me if I wanted to start a dressing room or if I needed help etc. What were they doing instead? One was on the phone making travel plans, the other one was walking around averting my gaze and I lost track of the third. I hope whoever is in charge reads this and does something.
