I have a love/hate relationship with TJ Maxx/Marshall's. This store seems to have long lines no matter the time of day or day of the week. Waiting and waiting in line is just something you've got to be prepared to do. Luckily, they line the checkout area with lots of little knick knacks to occupy your time. I'm made plenty of last minute purchases. I've found that their selection has gotten worse over the years. I'm still able to find some goodies in various departments but on the whole it's been a steady decline. A few more staff members to organize the floor and man the registers and this place would improve drastically. But I guess I'll just keep on dreaming! read more

Hmm it's not the worse place I have been to, but it could be better. However it's the closest TJM is the area for most. But many items are broken. Case in point I found a wallet that I fell in love with due to it's unique color and designer. But one caveat it the seam was coming apart. But I have a sewing machine and I'm crafty. So when I get to the cashier (I got a lot of other stuff) I showed the cashier and said is there a way to knock $1 off as it has the rip. She snatches it, looks and throws it in the back. Legitimately the most unorganized, dirtiest, messiest & short staffed TJ Maxx I have ever stepped foot in! I honestly felt like I was in the ghetto, no lie! Broken merchandise still on the floor that looked like it had been for days. However, I am from out of state & needed to find something to wear quick so I browsed around for maybe 10 minutes until I realized the line for the checkout literally ended by the women's dresses, like towards the back in the middle of the store. Sure, it's cheap. That's what earns TJ Maxx their second star. But low prices alone do not make for a good shopping experience (do you hear me, Wal Mart and Kmart?) I admit that I'm not the most organized person and therefore have much experience sifting through messy piles of stuff, but this place proved to be more than I could handle. On top of that, in order to buy one thing I had to wait in a line longer than the Great Wall of China. It doesn't matter when you get there, it's the same all day. The cashiers are constantly chatting with each other in Spanish as if they could care less. The Manager is right back there chatting along with them so again, no recourse. I actually took the time to call corporate while on the line and was ON HOLD for 36 minutes while STILL waiting on line. So there is no hope. The selection is good, the prices are good, I don't care about the mess. What I do care about is the f*cking ABSURD line. I've gone at 5pm, 10am, and everywhere in between, and it is NEVER okay. They even made it worse by eliminating a separate returns line and making it part of the regular line. Sure, I get it, they want to force people to shop first. But I shop there less because I can't afford the time it takes if god forbid I need to do a return. The past two times I've been to this store, people on line have asked the useless greeter person (they have electronic callout for next register - why waste a staff member?) to PLEASE get more people on registers. The answer that came was "well, it's 5 o'clock, it gets busy". Are you f*cking kidding me? You're a store, you know this fact, so make sure at 5 o'clock, you attempt a SOLUTION with more people at the registers. The line is ALWAYS a 30 min wait. I have a baby at home and NO time to waste like that. Also, the staff behind the registers are often taking their sweet time, chatting, etc. I feel like we're in some slower-paced more relaxed country...but we're NOT. The frustration is beyond. And no, I don't have to shop here then, sure. My attendance has waned by about 80% and will continue to go down. I can get most of the stuff at Target across the way. I am very disappointed with this stores policy to not allowing shopping carts to leave the store. I purchased about $350 of items, some large, while with my 18 month old daughter. The shopping carts have a sensor that prevents the carts from going outside. It was physically impossible for me to carry the items, bags and my daughter alone. When I asked one of the employees what to do, she said well you can leave your items here, get your car, pull inferring, and leave your daughter in the car while you come back and get the items. Needless to say, I returned all of my items and left the store. As retailers struggle to compete with ease and convenience of online shopping, I am surprised by this policy. It seems to limit that amount of items that customers, especially moms with children, can realistically purchase. I left, went to Target and paid for more for items, but am happy to support a retailer who makes for a convenient shopping experience as opposed to one who tells me to leave my 18 month old daughter in a car alone. read more

This TJ Maxx underwent renovations, so there are more registers and dressing rooms. However, it's as chaotic as ever because everyone's frenzied for a bargain. Even though Target is more organized, I'm willing to sift through name brand stuff from last season (or last year) because the quality is generally better. Also, they have a high-end designer section stocked with Rock and Republic, True Religion, Theory, DVF, Nanette Lepore, etc. For casual wear, I've found mall brands such as Roxy, Hollister, and American Eagle- $15 hoodies and cable-knit sweaters! The service is kinda rough with a draconian dressing room policy, but it's what you'd expect from a discount store with shoplifters. read more

I left annoyed primarily due to the actions of one employee who knows nothing of customer service. But before I get to that: at the register, my very nice cashier asked another employee to get a price. That person took off, never returned, and my cashier had to leave the register to get a price herself, despite a long line. But then, as I exit, the security sounds. ANOTHER employee goes through my bag. She sees a cheap, plastic ring on the scarf I bought and removes it, despite my twice saying I wanted it. She then sees that the cashier bagged each of my new suede pumps separately so they wouldn't scuff. This is undoes for no apparent reason. Finding nothing to set off the alarm, she sent me on my way: no apology, no "thank you for your patience," no "here's that cheap, plastic scarf hanger you wanted for your trouble,".... NOTHING! Some customer service! Now, instead of being delighted with my visit and purchases, I left annoyed and determined to leave reviews on Yelp, Google (etc.) about the lousy customer service. read more

I go to this location often but lately the quality of the merchandise is poor. Also, the team is often rude and impersonal. I think it's a management issue, she is rude and treats the employees in a condescending manner. You never know who is listening or observing and I don't think you want customers witnessing that type of behavior. There should be a customer service training in place. This TJ Maxx is weird and cramped compared to other stores. There are however some good things about it, mainly that they have higher end merchandise. I wish they would just expand and renovate it. Even with the low expectations of a TJ Maxx, this location is a chaotic mess. The merchandise is all over the place so be prepared to have to scrounge around for items. Often, items will jiust be piled on top of each other. The store is not staffed appropriately for the customer traffic. There also tends to be a fairly long line. That said, the staff is friendly and helpful. The store just needs more employees. Try visiting during the week because the store is even more hectic on Saturday. I stood in line for 45 min- This store is known for super long lines and wait times btw- the cashier was so nasty. She didn't want to price check an item for me and when her co-worker came back with an item that was similar she tried to hide from me that it wasn't the same item. LOL! I didn't really care. Theeeeen they couldn't print out my receipt for some reason and I had to wait an extra 30 minutes with no apology. Again because they didn't know what they were doing. I love Tj maxx and this Tj maxx is my favorite not only because it is in walking distance on river road but because it's fairly well managed compared to other Tj maxx locations. It feels like my second home. The associates at the register are very friendly and nice all the time, and they seem to have a pretty close knit team here. Just overall good vibes whenever I'm here. And the workers also do their best to keep the racks and fitting room in order. Tonight I saw the beauty section completely organized and color and brand coordinated , and was very impressed! This is a terrible store for any customer service. They had tagged an item with a wrong merchandise that I wanted to return, and made me feel like a criminal for asking for a refund. First of all. this rude woman Jackie lied to me that she was the store manager when she wasn't. She said she couldn't help me at all. I asked to have the store security camera played back for the evidence that I bought the item just the day before. She said there was no security to do that, refused to answer when he would come to the store and also refused to give me his name. She had a terrible attitude the whole time and then walked away. The next day I went back to the store to see the security, the real manager, Lauren, was there but she also had a sour face on with terrible attitude. She didn't greet me or looked at me, but took my item and receipt and walked away mute. I see where these old miserable people get their attitude from. If you're unhappy at your jobs, you should quit and stay away from people and anything related to customer service cus both of you suck at it. read more

Unorganized, cluttered, dirty store. Almost no inventory in the Runway section unless they are having an event which is twice a year and then it is slim. Shelves always a mess, clothing on the floor. Forget the beauty section - smashed bottles on the floor, opened items that people "sampled". Employees attitudes are fair. Very long lines at checkout so plan on 15-20 waiting time EVERY times. Have a question about something ..... forget it! No one knows the answers to anything. Jewelry department ..... take a number literally and be prepared to wait as there is never more than one person working. Parking is good. Skip this TJ Maxx for sure. read more
