Do your feet hurt? Sit in the furniture department and stay awhile! The staff will NOT rush you out of the store. They love to see customers hanging out in the furniture department having long and nonsensical conversations about nothing... Feeling tired? Take a nap on the display beds... JUST KIDDING...but the staff are pretty cool and laid back, so if you wanna stay awhile and doddle, it's okay, doddle away! I love the chain and the great deals they have, but I hope the lack of foot traffic doesn't prove fatal. Everyone seems to be flocking to the other big conglomerates, but I'll just stick with my BigLots. I love it there.

Just try ripening a peach and compare it to the succulent beauties at Shaw's! Despite my highly repetitive diet, they are chronically out of stock on one thing or another. They use an unnamed 3rd party delivery service, and they are literally (nickel and) diming me to death with all the single foods getting its own bag! This added 10 cents each to my cereal and to my frozen pops for getting their own bags. The Vermont bag fee is about reducing bags by charging 10 cents to DISCOURAGE USE OF BAGS ON SINGLE ITEMS. The delivery service either does not know this or does not care.

Two young sales women in front stood there chatting about what they were going to wear to a party. I was looking in the nearby shoe department and no one asked me if I wanted anything. I noticed 2 other women totally fending for themselves in the shoe department as if it was Discount Shoes. When I picked out items to try on, I had to seek out a salesperson to help me. Since I had just been to the new LL Bean store, where customer service was excellent, it felt extra weird. The purchase I made had gone through with a DUPLICATE purchase for the same date pending. Considering I had just made a payment and should have had enough credit to use that day, this was incorrect. I immediately called Kohl's customer service. The first person I spoke to looked at my account, and said yes they charged you twice for the same thing. I said I wanted it reversed immediately, it was affecting my available credit. He said he couldn't do that and transferred me to another dept. The woman I spoke to there told me that it would take 4 days to drop off. It is STILL showing pending. I told her I have had this problem with this store 2x last year. At that time I was told by YOUR customer service, it was the store. That they are hitting something when cashing me out that rings up twice, even though it only shows up once on the receipt. I had a problem then too, had to wait, but at least they made an effort to reverse it. I am being told there is nothing they can do and this is normal when a charge goes through, that sometimes it can charge twice , one pending until the original charge goes through. And then the second one will drop off. What kind of logic is that? I called again yesterday. Got the same thing. They are not reversing it. They are doing nothing. This is their ERROR, whether in the store or customer service. They don't care, and are NOT taking responsibility for this. I am extremely dissatisfied that the DOUBLE charge is still there. I did shop at another Kohl's the day I checked my account. I didn't use my Kohl's card. I have been a customer for years, and honestly think we all deserve better. When I called this should have been corrected immediately. The fact that this has ONLY happened at the Berlin store, is a question too. I would like the duplicate charge off my card IMMEDIATELY!!! The third time I went in I decided that I needed the Artic Muck Boots, so I paid the $145 to have them. When I went to the counter to pay, I asked about any sales on the Dansko shoes. I was told that in the Spring they will have a trunk show. Then I was asked by the cashier in a very snide and condescending tone "Do you know what a trunk show is???" I replied , "Yes" and then she said, "Well I don't know when it is, but it's sometime in the Spring." So for the attitude, the judgement, and the air of snoodiness, I am giving this place a 1 star review. All customers are important, and assumptions shouldn't be made about the status of a customer based on skin tones. I have been in the customer service industry for years and know that all customers pay the salaries of those who work behind and in front of the counter, and respect should be given to all. When I bought the boots the young girl, of about 17 was semi helpful, but she looked scared to interact with customers. She cracked a smile by the end of the sale because I had mentioned that I was afraid of offending her with my potentially stinky feet. LOL. However, I went with the boots, although not flashy, but definitely protective and worth the price. But I will not be back and will advise all of my friends to shop online on Macy's, Amazon, Ebay, or in New Hampshire. Found an open entrance and walked through and holy shit, totally creepy. Gymnastic and a gym was still open the rest of it was shuttered. Creepy old movie feel, banners hanging dated 2019. An old pub displaying what's on tap but pub long gone. It was such a strange place to explore.

Locals refer to this as the "Green Mountain Small" as this is one of the smallest and empty malls…read moreone has ever seen. The one last remaining anchor store, JC Penny is there. Most of the mall is now empty except for a few clothing or other small specialty stores that suck. Rich's, Ames, Zares, The Music Shop, Butson's supermarket, Sears, Fashion Bug, Dana Jewelry, and more have vacated. I hate to be negative as the area needs business, but coming out to the mall is a wasted trip. I recommend shopping downtown St Johnsbury. However, just keep this in mind, that JP Penny is the ONLY place within 1 hr drive to buy a suit or good sheets.
