They watch you on camera, and when you go across the street, they boot your car. December 2024 S U M M A R Y Your standard TJ Maxx in a very convenient location in the middle of the city. I did feel the variety was a bit small. And is it just me... Or are the prices here getting pretty high? S H O P P I N G I came here looking for things for Christmas. I was looking for both stocking stuffers and a secret Santa gift. There were quite a bit of options, and I went a little wild with the shopping. I bought way too many items. I did appreciate how during Christmas time they put a lot of gift items at the very beginning of the store, and I didn't even have to walk more than a few feet to find more than enough options for what I was looking for. I did find a really cool SpongeBob sweatshirt that I purchased for myself. When I went home, I realized that it was too big and I needed a size smaller. I came back about a week later, and I couldn't find the sweatshirt again. When I purchased the shirt, there were probably 15 available and it was pretty close to Christmas. The cashier at the front told me that they did have them, but had to move them. Unfortunately, they had completely changed the layout of the store and I had no idea where they had put those sweatshirts. And I really wanted it! That was my only qualm. S E R V I C E I thought the cashiers were kind. When I came back a week later to return some of the items that I didn't end up needing, they were nice about it. I didn't have any issues. You find decent stuff here, I'll give it that. I can't say that I'm coming back anymore, as I've had multiple extremely negative interactions with staff. The icing on the cake was when this morning, when their fitting rooms looked no different than normal, just no person there, I decided to go and try stuff on. Figured since it was early in the day, it just might be a case of "no one's covering it there". I had a staff member come by two minutes later, literally yelling for me to come out. Hands up, made a mistake, but then please don't scream at me as though I'm mid crime. Came out, I apologized, and she responded with "yeah well you should've known, don't do that crap again!" T.J. Maxx is my hot spot. This a location is nice. It's clean, organized, and the shelves are stocked. They have a good selection of fashion jewelry and beauty supplies. I visited in December so they had tons of holiday goodies. T.J. Maxx is the perfect spot to pick up gifts for anyone. Found exactly what I needed, plus some! CLEAN, Not too crowded, friendly service, & they are still disinfecting carts & their registers after each guest, definitely a plus! It's a great store that I shop a lot at maybe too much for my good! It's not located the closest to me but I am always coming in here to find something to buy or at least try to find something to buy from socks to kitchen goodies to seeds/nuts I am running out of. The best part about TJ Maxxx is even if you are just killing time before stopping in Whole Foods or planning to finally leave the plaza, you we end up finding something to you forgot about until you saw it here, I think that's a good thing. I took alway one star since if you buy something like no show socks on your last trip here, you might not find it here the next time. I recommend this TJ Maxx for sure. read more

Tj maxx currently has a policy where you can't try on clothing and need to return if it doesn't fit, which is fine, I get it. I tried to do just that and the women at the register was extremely rude. Clearly hated her job and was not trying to be accommodating. If you are that miserable in your job, don't work in retail. I was being very nice, tried to even take what I wanted to return back because I forgot the tag and she still made a new label which was very nice. Just had an awful experience with an employee, the greeter who also had hand sanitizer at the door was very rude. I was shopping and realized I needed a cart and went to grab one and noticed the greeter had a trash can. I asked her if I could throw my cup away that I brought in with me. She looked at me and then looked away and completely ignored me. Then as I waited there for a minute I said 'okay I guess not' and she laughed at me. I called the manager after I left as I was very disturbed and am a frequent shopper there.. the manger acted like she didn't believe me as she said 'really? T.J. Maxx is one of my favorite places to find great deals on designer items. While this T.J. Maxx is a bit on the disorganized side and the luggage selection wasn't as big as in comparison to other T.j. Maxx stores.But the customer service was lovely. Namely one employee that i feel deserves recognition is Michele. She was very friendly and made me feel so welcome. If you visit this T.J. Maxx-be sure to see Michele! read more

This is the second time I've walked up to the door 15 minutes before closing (8pm) and the front doors are locked. Maybe the hours should be updated to inform customer that the store closes at 7:45 and not 8pm. Not sure why they don't just match whole foods hours next door, that would make sense. read more

Rainy day in atlanta and somehow a TJ Max cart has found its way into the street. Not in the parking lot but about five feet from the front door . Standing next to the front door are two employees smoking. One in a rain coat the other holding an umbrella. Could care less that cars are having to wait to get around the cart. I visited the T.J. Maxx on Ponce today, and what an awful experience. I was greeted by the lovely woman at the door with a smile. I came to purchase one item and when I got to the register the line was extremely long. I saw someone working in the jewelry dept and decided to try my luck over there with cashing out, but was told my the gentlemen that I couldn't cash out in that dept unless i was purchasing jewelry, which was fine, rules are rules. But i literally had ONE item and the line was VERY long and he just finished cashing a woman out with no other customers next. I waited in line for over 30 minutes. There was only 2 registers open. I then realized the gentlemen from jewelry was the manager, named Robert W. With the line so long you would have thought Robert would have helped out a tad bit, even just cashing out 3-4 customers would have helped. As the line grew ridiculously longer and LONGER. Robert stood around not helping the two cashiers at ALL. I know cashing out customers is not his job and his job is to truly manage the store, but a good manager and team player would have jumped in and helped out SOME, instead of standing around at the cash register area and watching the line grow like bacteria. When a store is lacking it should be his duty to pick up and help; just bad for business in my opinion. Also, with the pandemic going on you would think he would help with the extreme flow of traffic, but nope ! There also wasn't any social distancing being displayed here. The line almost tripled at this point and Robert FINALLY came to rescue, but it didn't look like he was happy at all, just horrible customer service in my opinion. Michelle was my cashier and she was great :-). Regardless of how busy it was she remained professional and welcoming. I doubt i'll ever be back to this location. Just the lack of compassion and concern Robert W. had for his customers, the extreme long wait, and the lack of a helping hand, i am very displeased here. Take care. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love the Teej. I was overjoyed when I heard this location was coming in, as it's my go-to kill time/need a knick knack/want some new shoes/retail therapy kind of place. This location is the pits. As in, so bad that I have NEVER bought anything there. Yes, I walk out empty handed despite many trips, and I can't explain how bizarre that is for me. Even though it's only a few months old it's already dirty, and the selection just isn't there. No Runway section, nothing to really speak of in terms of nice women's clothing, and the homegoods selection is pretty much non-existent. I suppose I'll still have to trek out to the burbs for my Teej fix when I need it. read more

It honestly pains me to write this review as I sit in my car after just exiting TJ Maxx today. However I feel so strongly about it I needed to get it off my chest immediately. I came in and did a store return for an item that I purchased on the first day of TJ Maxx opening after Covid 19. In all honesty I did not have my receipt present with me at the time however the associate that handled my return offered me store credit provided me a store credit card and receipt accompanying it. I proceeded to go through the store and purchase well over 5 times the amount I returned ($33). When I brought my items to the register and presented my store credit card to the cashier she said me "They didn't put your name on this?" ("This" being the store credit card) I replied "No" , her " Well I can't accept this" I proceeded to explain to her that I literally just did the credit at the end register about an hour earlier all in the same trip and even provide her the receipt that accompanied the store credit card. She proceeded to ask another associate to get the other person at the end of the register to come and verify my face. Unfortunately, that wasn't the associate that was there at the time. The manager was called and she proceeded to tell the associate that it was OK to take my credit. To say that this associate was rude would be an understatement. Her attitude was atrocious and she has no business having a speaking role and dealing with customers on a day-to-day basis. At one point I was told whenever I make a return to make sure that I get my name written on the store credit card. I had to explain to the associate that it is not my place in order to police TJ Maxx and they were associates and them not handling their own store procedures correctly. This whole interaction literally took close to 6 to 7 minutes and I was made to feel as if I was trying to do something dishonest. And after actually leaving the store and upon further inspection of the return receipt, lo and behold I see my own name printed on the receipt. I wonder why anyone didn't bother to just ask me for a form of government ID to verify my identity. Furthermore, later on take the time to chastise their associate that failed to do her job later on. After excusing my presence and after allowing me to complete my purchase. I finished making my purchase but in the end I may actually come back and return these items because it really doesn't sit right with me how I was treated today. This is the first time that I have ever been treated this way and I can't say that all my experiences have been negative. To be honest I think I've only ever returned items to TJ Maxx on one or two occasions a long time ago and was not aware of their new protocol. Their associates could benefit from some true customer service training and how to handle discrepancies when things arise. read more

This is the TJ Maxx closest to my home, but I have actually visited only a couple times. Pros: Unlike others, I have found tons to buy here. Neutral: I would agree that the home department is better than the clothing and accessories. Most of my shopping relates to the latter. Cons: Not as many clearance offerings as other locations. Overall, the selection is not as expansive or high end. Parking can be difficult as there are SO many business in this location and it can get quite crowded. I like to go around closing hours. Take home: I'll keep it in my routine, but will go other locations first. read more

What could be more dangerous for a Shopoholic who lives across the street? Yea, nothing. This is the ultimate test for me. A brand new TJ Maxx with a moderately decent to really good selection of "stuff." By stuff I mean, clothes, wallets, jewelry, home goods, kitchen supplies, and gadgety accessories. They've already changed the layout like 3 times in the small amount of time they've been open. Don't worry, I can still find my way around. They lack a little in the kids department. I feel like this is a large gap in their stores as a whole lately. Hopefully they'll churn out a little more soon... please? Anyway, it's clean and the staff is mostly friendly. The parking lot is the same - crowded and crazy. But that's what happens when you have as many stores, great stores too, jammed into a plaza (with a Starbuck's) in the middle of MIdtown/Old 4th Ward. I definitely will continue my biweekly assault here. (By the say, they have the best hand soap!) I hope this store continues to stay clean, friendly, and well-maintained. read more

If I had to choose a location to shop, this would be it. It is in a good location for other shopping and parking is FREE. Parking is always a dilemma in metro Atlanta. This store is always well stocked and neatly organized. I enjoy shopping in a neatly organized store. The sale associates have always been friendly and helpful. Prices are good. Are used to love TJ Maxx and I would shop there all the time. No more. Never again at this location. I bought a watch for my boyfriend and was told if I had the receipt and he did not like it I could return it. I went to return the watch and they said it also had to have another store tag on the box so I couldn't return it even though I had the reciept. I still have no idea what they are talking about because I never took a tag off the watch!!! Then they said I may have changed this watch for another one because Kohl's sells the same watch!!! Why on earth would I do that ? Insane. It's just a reason for them to keep my money. They treated me like an alien and were super defensive. I will never shop here again and wish I had read the reviews beforehand. They are awful sales people and rude to the customer. The manager was not willing to discuss the situation but kept saying it's store policy. When I tried to tell him what I heard say, he aggressively spoke back and looked really mean in my face and interrupted me. Meh. I just haven't found anything here. Their clothing selection is lackluster, particularly in dresses, where they only have a single rack for both regular and clearance frocks. The home goods selection is a little better, with a decent selection of small furniture items and linens. The one area this place is a winner for is purses, as they consistently have a large selection of mid-range designer bags (Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, B. Makowsky, etc). However, I'm not often in the market for a hundred dollar bag, so I have yet to take any of those gems home with me. Even though this location is close to home, I find myself driving out to Howell Mill or the Buckhead Loop locations more often. read more

I'll be honest. I'm super glad that there's a TJ Maxx close to me. I rely on them for cheap work clothes and some funky home goods,and this TJ Maxx fits the bill totally. Very clean and organized for a TJ Maxx. Downside-it is so SMALL. I much prefer the size of the store in Cumberland. The home goods section was teensy-tiny. They had a selection of holiday items which was nice. For clothes I think this location is satisfactory. It might be the smallest TJ Maxx I have ever been in. Everything was easy to locate though and organized. I would go back even though they did not have what I was looking for. Who knows what I might find next time. read more

I usually only go to TJ Maxx for home-goods. But I have found some pretty good things at this location. I still can't buy clothes for myself here, but they have a pretty good baby section. This isn't the largest TJ Maxx store in Atlanta, but it's in a great location for me. The service is pretty standard and they have a little bit of everything. This store makes their living on marketing and selling women's fashion though, so just be ready for that going in if you don't fit that demographic! read more

The selection isn't as good as other TJMaxx stores that I've been to, but I have found a few decent things here over the years. Their cashiers have always been nice to me. Note: I got a boot for leaving the parking lot for 20 minutes despite spending time and money at their store. I've never had that happen before, and I will not be coming back if their owners are going to be so stingy/rabid about parking. Just be warned, they will boot you if you go to Starbucks or PCM for 20 minutes to grab a coffee and you must pay $75. I've also read on the Midtown Place Yelp site that if you go into Whole Foods you can receive a boot as well. There needs to more signage if they are going to be so aggressive about parking, because it's apparently just small signs at the entrance and exit of the parking lot. Was happy to find out TJ Maxx was coming to Midtown. Much more convenient for those of us who live in this area than the other ATL locations. The upsides are that it is a very clean, organized floor. Very friendly staff. Parking is easy. And obviously its convenient location for Midtown residents. BUT, big but, the selection here does not compare to the Buckhead location or even to the location in my small hometown. The racks feel bare and there are very few of the labels that attract me to these types of stores. The product placement seems odd to me - the few labels that they offer and the ones of which I look for are placed in inconspicuous locations and mixed in with lower pricepoint/quality labels. I usually always walk out with something from a store like this, rarely is it that I don't find something of great value that I can use. However, here, after 4 visits I have yet to find anything that I am inclined to purchase. And I really have really tried. I haven't given up on this location - yet. I feel strongly about supporting businesses in my neighborhood, so I will definitely visit again in hopes that the selection improves. This Midtowner would like to see the same quality of selection that is offered in Buckhead. read more
