We spent about two hours walking through the historical eras. Our favorite was spending time with the fur trader. We were each given the opportunity to throw a hatchet into a wooden block. He was quite interesting and you could tell he enjoyed his role. The "characters" explaining each structure really added to the experience and compelled the kids to actually retain a little something from the visit. The grounds themselves are beautiful and scenic to walk. They rent the facility for private events and it would be a great site to host a wedding if you could stay late enough into the evening. Lots of spots for wedding party photos. We enjoyed our visit and I am glad to have experienced Heritage Hill as an adult with my own children. It's not anywhere were likely to return to anytime soon but worthy of a first time historical & heritage visit if you find yourself in the Green Bay area looking to do something not Packers related.

It was very well lit-up and looked more interesting than sitting in a movie theater for the night, so we decided to go exploring and find it. Easier said than done. I actually had to call the place while on the road and ask "onto which unmarked road am I supposed to take a right or a left?" So when we eventually made it there, they knew it was us, and gave a big Hello!!! and even the business dog came over to greet us. Very easy and laid back family-owned business, and they all had a fun-loving attitude. The course itself was pristine and a sparkling great condition, sprinkled with awkward high-school-first-dates and ample bug spray. I'd totally tap those balls again.

Willow Creek has open bowl hours on Saturday and we called and found that they had some free lanes. When we arrived, it was definitely busting in there but they did have a couple free lanes. We secured our lane, ordered a couple bourbon old fashioned cocktails, a basket of fries, and some jalapeno poppers (you know..your usual bowling alley fare). You order at the bar and the bring your food right to your lane. Everything was great. Good seating at the lanes, a nice area to keep your food and drink behind the lane area, and even some nice hooks to hang your coats while you bowl. Zero complaints and a fun afternoon had! I was in the area and was…read moreintrigued since they mentioned they had wolves at the center, as well as a lot of other rescued animals that are unable to be released back into the wild. When you drive into the park, you immediately notice the amount of Canada goose and mallards swarming the area. There's a huge pond that they call home, and they're also joined by wood ducks, herons, and even a sand hill crane. It turns out that the center sells cracked corn that the birds go crazy for, which leads to a love-hate relationship as they love the corn, but are wary of you as a large animal. There's a nature center which has exhibits geared more towards children, although there's still plenty to learn for adults. There's also animals inside, and several bird feeders right outside. The observation building is where I had the most fun. Outside they have injured raptors, while inside they keep bats, songbirds, and shorebirds. Behind the glass, you can see the volunteers and staff nurturing baby rabbits. The woodland building is home to animals such as rabbits, opossums, skunks, and more. Outside there are foxes, wolves, and deer. I was surprised hear the wolves howling, and it was amazing that I could see them easily from the building. There's a daily program at various times where you can see a up close look at the animals. I went for the Eagles one, where the staff took out Liberty the eagle. She was found with severe visual impairment (likely from West Nile) and so couldn't fly or feed herself that well.
