They'll insult you, saying that they've been in business X years, etc and that you don't know what you're doing and you should trust them. I declined their services, and then they had the audacity to send a random guy to my house to bully me into signing with them. Really underhanded operation and not honest.

His finished product is as beautiful today as it was the day we closed five years ago. After experiencing a nightmare while building another house with a well respected builder, Kris was a breath of fresh air. I am into details ...design, wiring, plumbing, and the real infrastructure of the house. When we close on a house, I even inspect the crawlspace. Most leave such details to the builder and only concentrate on design and choices, but I was right in the middle of it all creating headaches for many a supplier and subcontractor. Chris respected my opinions and although he did not always agree, he did the research and as a result, the home we built is amazing. No building process is without its hiccups and ours had its' share. The wrong brick was installed and Chris had the supplier correct it to our satisfaction. The subcontractor that installed and finished the hardwood floors returned multiple times to get it perfect. We hired an outside electrician to inspect the wiring after the electrician contracted to do the job completed his work, which caused a few issues for Kris. As with all building projects, it is the builder that makes the difference and to Kris's credit, he followed up on everything. As I said, our home to this day is beautiful and there is nothing I would change. We have enjoyed the design so much that we wish to build another house but scaled down in size. If anyone desires to build any size house, and is leery of the process, then I would recommend Kris as he is patient, skilled, and very talented. His wife Kara is also remarkable with a gift for design, which makes them a delightful team.

Unfortunately, feedback from others was not posted or located until after I began business dealings w/this company Up front, I had no problem signing the contract w/ Blalock b/c it demonstrated the agreement my money ($$) was strictly 4 my home & 10% was the building fee. NO MORE than 10%. 10% fee 4 build & to cost of change orders. Contract states receipts were 2 be provided - Blalock refused. It's my opinion & experience, the lack of transparency is a great sign of deception. In addition 2 receipts, Blalock refused 2 provide proof of insurance he charged me 4 my project & proof other fees were paid. As a matter of fact he refused &/or delayed in providing required documents 2 bank. I felt Blalock never intended on completing my home & if pushed workmanship was poor. I began to feel, my project was a means 2 finance personal projects - I never felt like my $$ was being used on my home & when the builder was pushed he begrudgingly proceeded w/my project. It took 2+ yrs to complete & I'm not happy d/t numerous defects in home & changes made w/o my consent. Use of utilities to my home next to project w/o consent. Subs used water in non-related property to fill septic & left running until back yard flooded I was told by the builder he never encountered a legal situation w/ his company but ironically, I was not able to locate an attorney in Franklin d/t COI On 09/06/15 - labor day w/e, 1+ year into the project we were at foundation & just beginning framing. Blalock was funded over 100K and waning progress, but Blalock insisted he was further along than bank had from inspection & he proceeded 2 contact my bank to discuss my personal info regarding my account b/c he felt he was due more $$. I was catching on 2 a pattern at this point (End of month & holidays) There was an issue w/foundation that should have been planned 4 in development phase, as the lot had been platted w/all issues outlined prior 2 Blalock contract. Even so, Blalock refused 2 provide receipts & documents to issue tor funding. D/t inability 2 fund add'l monies, Blalock began 2 scream in my face: "Fire me, fire me, I don't want 2 build your house, let's settle up what you owe me" My impression: Blalocks expected me pay the 10% fee & add'l monies 4 work, but refused to provide proof & refused 2 build based on contract w/8 mo completion. Well over a yr. passed at the time of this problem. Approx 3 weeks later, I was contacted by several folks 2 report a fire to structure. Several fires found around most of the structure. Blalock denied receiving calls/messages from fire dept but fire dept confirmed this was not true. Fire dept used Blalock's construction sign w/his # 2 call him. Unfortunately 4 Blalock, one of the responding firemen is a good friend of mine & there is a report on file. My friend asked if there was any conflict w/ the builder b/c setting this # of fires around the structure was a red flag but leaving the fires unattended was highly suspicious I have talked 2 numerous customers & not one had anything positive 2 say. Everything I experienced & more was expressed.. Common comments: "Push or you will not get your house" "Get an advocate or you will be taken advantage of" & "Avoid dealing w/the wife b/c she inflates everything 3 - 5 times what Blalock quoted" & "the wife is downright awful" Many subs state "all of Blalocks owner financed projects sit 4 a long time w/o progress" & Blalock reportedly states "customers will not pay him" Great, I just learned Blalock is slandering his customers Nothing was as promised & the reason I contracted w/ Blalock was d/t the style & package promised. Had I not been fed misinfo, I would've moved 2 another builder As a husband & wife team, I felt there was a definite tag team approach, that left me feeling abused & manipulated. Constant threats to stop builds & actual stop builds w/o cause. The wife demanded 2 renegotiate contract price at 2+ yrs into the project - ironically all delays were on their end. I felt this was a constant gypsy shell game w/deliberate conflict 2 delay project, the dishonesty (I have email proof) led 2 feeling I was never treated like a customer, rather a source of $$ the builder had NOT budgeted 4 my project I observed lack of f/u, poor communication, misleading info, deliberate attacks w/ attempts manipulate me & lack of respect. I felt this couple just woke up one day & said, let's start a contracting business. They understand building a home is stressful & I felt they used 2 prey on me. Folks are vulnerable, under stress & easily victimized. My recommendation is avoid this business & any other business affiliations. It's not likely this practice will change If you're a victim of this company,, reach out to the numerous TN State agencies & forward concerns. Be vigilant & push 4 resolution
