What a fantastic tour by Mashav (the owner and the chef of Le Couloir)! Richmond neighborhood in SF…read moreis known for its mix of cultures, but Mashav masterfully uncovers all the hidden secrets and gems - Secrets only someone who lives in this community is familiar with. And she does that through food and hand-picked dishes that you will never uncover without a guide. Even though locations may change per tour, our group tasted a mix of cultures and got some stories behind the dishes, the restaurants, and their owners. Few examples - * Russian cuisine - Herring with a pickled onion on fresh bread * Indian street food - I was surprised how much I enjoyed this vegan street snack - I would have never ordered anything without meat, and I dislike spinach, but the fried spinach snack was mind-blowingly good. * Mexican - Quesadilla with plantain. Again, no meat but it was soooooo good. * Chinese - Glazed Pork and pork-filled bun I won't spoil the surprise for some of the other locations. And more, and more - Total of about 7-8 places. You won't stay hungry, guaranteed. The walk itself is not challenging; there are no hills to overcome, even though it's San Francisco. Don't wait - Just go!

Michelle Exceeded Expectations for Wife's Birthday Party…read more My wife is hard to impress for her birthday. She doesn't like expensive gifts, but does food-centered events and adventures with our friends. I initially considered finding a cooking class somewhere and invite some of our friends but all the options seemed like a hassle and a bit impersonal. I then read about a chef that would take the class to your home and I thought - perfect. When I contacted Michelle she listened to my objectives and we determined that a cooking demonstration centered on paella would be perfect. In fact, she said that she will make the event an evening in Spain. The challenge was going to be making this a surprise, but Michelle coordinated with all of us, and my wife was totally caught off guard. That soon turned to delight to learn that she had an evening with her friends and learning about how to make paella ahead of her. Exactly what I had hoped for. Michelle served great appetizers, and then presented a special ham and gave a talk about the region in Spain it came from and why it was unique. The yard was decorated with a huge LOVE sculpture, and every detail of the evening was well thought out. Dinner was for 11, and she managed to do the demonstration while coordinating all the activities needed for the approaching meal. Our guests loved the demonstration and Michelle talked about ever y aspect of the process. I certainly learned a lot. Dinner was fabulous. We had a garden salad, much of it from her garden. Then to the centerpiece, the paella. Everyone agreed it was delicious to say the least. Michelle made each guest comfortable, and everyone got personal attention as she juggled activities in the kitchen. As the evening came to an end, my wife kept repeating how pleased she was, and how she loved sharing this special evening with some of our closest friends. I could not be more pleased. After thanking her for such a wonderful experience, we went to bed while Michelle cleaned up. When we woke up the next morning everything was in order with some tasty leftovers in our refrigerator to savor over the next few days. Very cool. As I declared at the dinner, Michelle made my dreams come true for my wife that made my dreams come true. So Michelle, thank you so much for a wonderful experience my Terri and our guests will always remember, you absolutely exceeded my expectations.

He goes on to deliver food that satisfies the soul (even with all the strange dietary requirements you and your guests might be bringing to the table). It's been nothing but a pleasure to have him in our kitchen. Chef Oliver has catered several medium sized events (30-40 people) for us as well as dinners for just the two of us when we were too busy to cook for ourselves. Every event has been a food success! He has the timing down and can manage to work in any kitchen site unseen. Our super foodie friends chat Chef Oliver up wanting recipes and tricks which he gladly walks people through. Out picky eaters leave having found food they can enjoy and our hearty eaters leave feeling full to the brim but knowing we still have leftovers. We're happy to have found someone who we can trust to do an outstanding job every time!

Chef Oliver was super chatty and friendly and answered all of our food questions. He was involved in conversation when it was appropriate but knew when to let us be. He also was quick on his toes--the house had a garden and when we inquired about using an ingredient from there for a little side dish, he was more than willing to create something (delicious) for us. The meal was amazing. The portions were a great size and his explanations of the dishes were perfect. We even had some leftovers to enjoy the next day. Overall I would love to have Chef Oliver cater another party for me and the entire Kitchit experience was really pleasant and positive!

Chef Eric was OUTSTANDING! I hired him for a single night, two-person dinner and he was wonderful…read more He was super communicative and very flexible with the menu items, providing about 5 options per course. Chef Eric brings all of the ingredients and a lot of his own supplies- he just needs a working stove/oven and a bit of fridge space to work his magic! He brought some of his own fancy plateware for the main course and dessert, and used our forks, drink ware and other plates. In terms of timing, he arrives about 1-1.5 hours before service to set up and get ready. For service, he brought out fresh utensils and presented each dish to us! We're big foodies and he was nice enough to answer some of our questions about the food, technique, and his background. My partner and I started with a little gem salad that was truly stunning and delicious! My partner mentioned it was the best food to be served on our plates! The salad was then followed by a warm and yummy spring pea and asparagus risotto. I had the roasted chicken roulade stuffed with herbs with romesco sauce and veggies, and my partner had the steak au poivre with pomme puree and veggies. Both of these were great but we both agreed the steak was our fav! For dessert, we had the strawberry shortcake which was "not too sweet" and a perfect and light way to end the night! What delighted us the most was that Chef Eric had cleaned the whole kitchen (loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the stove, emptied the dish rack), AND PROVIDED LEFTOVERS! Seriously so stoked to eat more of the salad and strawberry shortcake. All in all, this was an awesome experience and we would definitely contact Chef Eric again for another dinner!
