CV joint went out away from home on a Sunday morning. Pro: Tires Plus is the only place open so it's my only hope of getting it fixed. Luckily they had a guy wh could do it and they could get the transaxle. So I was happy that I got my car done and back home without a hassle. Con: The tech claimed one of my lug nuts got cross threaded when he was removing a wheel for inspection and he had to break the stud off. Not sure how that happened having removed probably 500 wheels myself and never done that, but whatever, I said fix it. Now if you're already dropping the knuckle to replace the transaxle it should take about two minutes to replace this $5 stud. They charged me over $250 for the stud replacement! Also I had a TPMS sensor out and I said they could replace it, since I was happy they were solving my problem. Little did I know they would charge me $175 for that. My regular mechanic charges $60. Also, the transaxle labor seemed pretty high for what the job entails. Bottom line: I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth and no trust, even though they bailed me out of a jam. I was in a bind on a Sunday morning when I got a flat tire driving home from up north. All the tire shops in the area told me I would have to wait at least two days to get a new tire because they were so busy and backed up. Tires Plus told me to stop in and they would take care of me. If you want to pay for insanely overpriced inspection requirements and shit attitude employees head down to the tires plus in superior. With their parts prices set at 1000% markup your sure to go broke entrusting them to have your back. Guaranteed? Absolutely! They will guarantee unnecessary repairs to ensure they take at least a months revenue out of your pocket and then look dumbly at you while you try to process how the 6 month old 1/4 worn brake pads now need replacement. And don't forget, when you bring your car to tires plus for your inspection, you get a twofer - without hesitation they'll happily charge for both the initial and follow up! I was very straightforward with what I wanted done to my car, I told the man that I had a rim already and that all I wanted them to do was to put a tire on the rim and put it on my car, right off the bat the worker was very insistent that he had no idea how to do what I was asking of him and proceeded to correct me, telling me I wasn't using the proper terminology, and then when I came to come get my car, he didn't do what I had asked him to do. He put my old tire on my car with the new rim. He was very insistent that he was going to take care of my car and he did everything but that. Had the same experience the last time I went, told them what I wanted, and instead of replacing the whole wheel (rim and tire), they pounded out the rim and filled the tire and charged me for that, I wasn't taken seriously at all and my car still isn't fixed. We recently received excellent service at the Superior, WI Tires Plus on Sunday March 14, 2021. We were on a short honeymoon on the North Shore and traveled on a muddy road. We experienced a horrible noise and shaking and immediately began searching for tire service through AAA. They were no help at all. I called the Tires Plus in Duluth who had no appointments on Sunday. Then I called the Superior Tires in Superior and had a great conversation and an appointment for 11:00 on Sunday. We arrived early and that was not a problem. Chris was our wonderful service Advisor and got my Subaru Outback into the service bayright away. My husband Tim Gormley has his tires service at the West St. Paul Tires Plus so Chris mentioned that as we checked my car in for a problem with stones and mud in the wheels.  Dillan our service tech looked at each wheel, and cleaned them all out, and assured us there was no other issues. Chris processed the paperwork and then informed us there would be no charge! We were stunned! The wonderful staff at Tires Plus in Superior, WI on Tower Avenue gave us a wonderful wedding gift- my car was once again riding smoothly and we were able to continue home to Mendota Heights without worry! While getting new tires installed the staff broke one of the tire pressure monitors (TPMS). They did install a new unit at no cost. The fault monitor for the tire pressure sensing system went off on the way home. I drove back a week later which is 120 miles round trip and also my only day off.They seem to have fixed the problem. The service was average which is acceptable to me. What was quite disappointing is they didn't even offer me any type of compensation for my time, driving, gas ETC. Even a coupon for five bucks off another appointment would have been something at least. I even made an appointment to keep their schedule on track for that day. I felt as though it was an inconvenience for them to repair something they broke.There are many, many tire shops around and I will probably be visiting one of those next time.Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.
