DO NOT GO HERE. I don't normally write reviews, but the service was so awful that I felt I needed to warn other people not to go here. I came in from out of town with a tire leak, hoping that I could get some help. I received a call that they LOST my keys and had no idea where they were. After multiple hours of worrying about my lost keys, the called back saying they found the keys, but the tire was not repairable and I would have to pay $190 for a new tire in addition to almost $300 of "other needed repairs". To top it all off, I took my car down the road to a different service business who repaired the "unfixable" tire for free. Save your time & money and go somewhere else. read more

Scheduled an appointment for a tire with 2 small nails. When I arrived, the same guy that took my information said I did not have an appointment and was at the wrong location. Called the number in my phone and was 100% at the right location. Had to talk him into fixing my tire, when he finished, said he could only find one leak- I look at the "repaired" tire and saw the second leak still bubbling from the spray. They refused to fix it, so I literally had to pay for a tire that still has a leak. Ridiculous. Stay away from this joke of tire shop. read more

Took our two cars there 3 months apart. Our cars are low miles, new. Both times they said they couldn't align either car because of a loose tire rod. We had paid for the free alignment service and the tire rod repair would be $300. When we questioned the tire rod on the 2nd vehicle, all of a sudden it 'wasn't that loose - just something to keep an eye on' and they did the alignment. Will not be going back. Beware. read more

I brought my car there for tires. When they gave me my car back the trunk wasn't operating correctly. My husband looked on the roof of the car & there was a scuff & scratch in the paint where the roof & the hatchback connect on my toyota sienna. We brought It DIRECTLY back to them & they said "nope, we didn't do It". The employee got the manager & he said sorry "we didn't do It" VERY RUDELY TOO!! They didn't want to hear anything more. WTF how can u live in a world where businesses r just as criminal as low life street scum? I wouldn't use them again if they were the LAST PLACE ON EARTH! I've always had great service here at least the 4/5 times I've been. Been right on estimates of time and service done seemed to have held up. They work to get you in as well, that's a huge plus. I feel like this is a good place for repairs and maintenance. read more

Came in on a Sunday with a screw in my driver front. Was told it was too close to the sidewall to fix, and that I needed to buy 4 new tires. Took it elsewhere the next day, and it was repaired in under 30 minutes with zero cost or need for replacements. I told them about Tires Plus telling me it was not patchable, and was told it was well into the area where it can be fixed, and there was no need for me to replace any tires. If you're looking for tires, car repairs, oil changes or any other car service...AVOID Tires Plus in Coralville. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back five times. Each time they fail to uphold their "warranty" by making up excuses. Either the car has some issue or it's only if you do a certain thing and not another...what a rip off! I had to buy new tires there three times and got other work done and each time the tires went bad very quickly (on 2 different cars) and each time they refused to cover the warranty. On non-tire work they consistantly over charge and say it is "by the job" rather than hourly even if "the job" isn't something they've ever done before by their own admission and "the job" only took mere minutes to do while I watched. read more

Don't take your car here! They told me I needed 4 new brake pads and rotors, but what he was saying didn't make any sense so I took it to Firestone where they said my brakes and rotors were fine. I submitted a complaint to their corporate office who forwarded it to the Coralville store manager, who said that based on their measurements it was risky to wait so I took it to a third mechanic and he said I had 40% brake pad left in the front and 70% in the rear. Then I showed him the paperwork from Tires Plus and he said it's not just inaccurate - it's fraudulent and that I have 1-2 years left on my brakes. I saved myself $1000 by trusting my gut. Typically I don't write reviews for places like this, but just wanted to tell coralville that this place really strives for customer care. From simple oil changes to getting great priced tires. I would suggest road hazzard warranty cause I was glad I got it. Plus the lifetime alignment is totally worth it. It can really help if you can't miss those potholes in the iowa roads like my husband swears I cant! read more

Had "bouncing" in wheels once I hit 55mph on the highway. Took to Tires Plus. Said it was tire rod and another part associated with that. GUARANTEED ME NOT THE TIRE OR TIRES. Spent $1500 roughly and didn't fix it. Took car to manufacturer dealer and they said replace tires...have issues and a "bubble". Took yo another shop, White Dog, they said tires also. Replaced tires and no problem. This was after talking to Tires Plus many times. I have an estimate sheet from Tires Plus stating tires are good... Manager and district manager both spoke to me and stand by their diagnosis... Never going there again. read more

I called ahead and brought in my car for a hole in the tire. I've heard bad things about this location but due to the circumstances (having a flat tire) I went to the closest place I could to avoid further damage. They called saying they fixed the tire and then tried to sell me a bunch of unneeded stuff (as many car repair places do). That was fine until I go to pick up my car. When getting in my car, it was obvious that somebody had shuffled through my things. Candy was opened and a $20 was taken. This was being monitored and so it was very obvious that my stuff had been gone through. When we called they told us that you sign something saying they aren't responsible for stolen property (Duh) and that they'd refund us the $20 that was stolen even though they do not usually do this. I'm thankful the management handled it this way, but WILL NOT return as I'd have to empty my entire car to make sure nothing would be taken in the future. I understand the money shouldn't have been left in the car but doesn't look good for them to have workers stealing things that aren't theirs and eating candy out of people's cars. They continued to say they've never had problems with this employee in the 7 years they've worked there and make excuses, but with a 2.5 star rating, it seems like maybe management should be looking into the people they have working there. I am in no way saying this kind of behavior has occurred by this individual on another occasion as I have no way of knowing, but do know I won't be chancing my luck here again. I ALWAYS go to TUFFY in Iowa City and wish I would have just risked the drive there in the first place. It would have saved me a lot of time and stress. read more

I went to Tires Plus on a Monday with what I thought to be battery trouble. My car wouldn't start and didn't hold a charge long after jumping. They replaced the battery and sent me on my way. I assumed everything was fine until two days later when I was having the same problem. This time, the alternator. I asked why they didn't notice this problem when I was there just two days ago and got some excuse about not being able to check. Very poor customer service and not an apology to be had. I will NEVER be back here. read more

My college daughter took her car to the Coralville location on Friday to get two new back rear tires replaced as we got done they said they couldn't do the alignment because the tie rods were to loose and needed to be replaced along with a steering gear for a total of 2,377 dollars. To make a long story short we went to the Toyota dealer Monday and a 20 year certified tech. said everything looks perfect! and we had them do the alignment. I think these guys take advantage of people and I would always get second opinion. I can't recommend this Coralville location. read more

I've had multiple positive experiences with tires plus. They've repaired flats for me. One time due to a nail, and another time due to the tire not fitting on the rim properly. They are always honest and upfront with me. I've had at least 2 instances where they have gone above and beyond their "job requirements" to provide excellent customer service. read more

Never go here for ANYTHING BUT tires or oil change (maybe not even that, depending on the price.) They charged me $240 to replace the spark plugs and that didn't even fix the problem, but offered no discount or apology about being wrong. Then they guessed that the problem was the rack and pinion (a ~$1300 fix.) Took it somewhere else, walked out paying $181 for a fixed car. read more

I had to install a new battery in my 2010 Highlander which was a warranty replacement battery that had been purchased from another retailer two years ago (before I became a Tires Plus customer). The car still would not start without a jump start so I took it to Tires Plus in Coralville, suspecting I may have a bad starter or alternator. The manager, Rick, got the car in the shop in a short time, fixed the problem, and surprised me with a phone call to let me know it was a small connection problem and that the car was ready to go already. What GREAT SERVICE and that is why I have been a Tires Plus- Coralville customer and will remain their customer. I had a tire looked at twice and the slow leak was never repaired even though they said it was. 5 days later, frustrated I was on my way to Discount Tire for a second opinion and the right front tire started making noise. This was a tire they also said had a leak and they also "fixed" it. Turns out lug nuts were loose and wheel was about to come off. Same tech #18 looked @ it both times. I will never go to tires plus again. NEVER. read more

To be quite honest, years ago I had an issue with this location not fully fastening the lug nuts after replacing my tires, but clearly things have changed. I went to Tires Plus one night after two of my son's tires got slashed. I went there because they were open the latest and I wanted to try and get them fixed. I got there about closing time of 7 pm just to see if I could get them in and pick them up in the morning. There were only a couple associates there and it looked like they were locking things down. They courteously took my business and said I could pick up the tires in the morning and I was happy with that. About 7:15 I got a call from one of the workers saying he sympathized with my situation and hung around after hours and fixed my two tires. I headed back in and picked them up and had my problem resolved that night. Above and beyond customer service in my eyes. Only reason I didn't give a 5 was that issue years ago, but you can feel good knowing the boys working there now are good people that I will utilize again in a heartbeat. read more

I used Tire Rack to pick out my tires and had them sent there for installation. I thought the service was great, although it took over an hour. Four stars for that experience. I liked it well enough that when my wife's car needed tires a month later, I used them again. Dropped off car a day ahead of delivery and told them they could start installing after delivery. Since they aren't usually very busy, I thought they could get to it right away. Three hours after delivery confirmation, they didn't know they received them. Two hours after that, installled. A couple days later, we noticed that the hubcap came off, because they were all on when finished. Which means some yahoo didn't put on back on all the way and now I have to order a replacement. I do my own brakes and tire rotation, so I have pulled those hubcaps on and off dozens of times over the last six years and never lost one. Three days after their care, one gone. read more

I've bought a few tire sets from the Coralville Tires Plus. The pricing has been competitive and the service polite and quick, and they have good hours. Today they got me out of a major jam when I brought in a knuckle from my 93 Accord that I just couldn't get the ball joint out of. Firestone couldn't do it and Tuffy's was closed so I went to Tires Plus. The guy (I wish I'd gotten his name) said he could handle it and sure enough he called me a little while later and I went and got it and reinstalled it and the Accord is back on the road. No charge for pressing out the old ball joint and pressing in the new one. My 2008 Civic will need tires in the next year or two so I will just take it there and be done. I had a great experience at Tires Plus. I hadn't looked at all of the reviews until the day of my appointment today. Last week I called and talked to the store manager and decided that the best deal I could get was to order my tires through tirerack and have them sent to the store. I then set up an appointment for the following day (today) to get the tires on and get an oil change. Michael was really nice, responsive, and easy to work with. He wasn't pushy at all to get tires through them - although there was a set I did want through them but it was nearly sold out (only two left in the surrounding states.) I showed up, they put the tires on, changed my oil, and let me know I needed to replace the air filter. Again they were not pushy when i told them I would go ahead and change that on my own. Being a woman - that means a lot to not have condescending behavior when it comes to automotive things. These guys were great and I will not hesitate to come back and also to recommend them.
