I was in need of a very expensive Audi repair for which the dealer had quoted $2,700 (on a car with only 60,000 miles)...ouch! I quickly (while still in the dealer's waiting area) searched yelp for other mechanics in the area. I'm so happy I found Chris and Nick at Maxwell Automotive! Chris and team were able to fix my car at a much lower price. Chris also conducted a thorough inspection and revealed some other issues that would need to be addressed in the future. He gave an estimate for these as well as possible timeframe for when the additional repairs would be needed. I was a bit overwhelmed and on the verge of tears. Chris didn't sugar coat anything, was upfront, but was also very compassionate, professional, and even gave me a hug which I'm sure he could sense I needed in that moment:-) My car was out of commission for several days and they loaned me a car they happened to have available at no charge--very grateful! Chris also made some very thoughtful recommendations on purchasing a vehicle that could be maintained at a much lower cost and I took his advice! During the time leading up to me purchasing a different car, I called him several times asking for input and guidance on specific makes and models. Dang, he consistently answered with a smile (yes, I could hear it:-) even though I feared I may be annoying with my incessant questions. Note, this is a no frills place. If you're looking for a waiting area with a fancy coffee dispenser, massage chairs, popcorn machine, or stale donuts from the grocery store--this is not your kind of place. If you prioritize honesty, integrity, and a fair estimate to get the job done, then these are your people! Chris and Nick are true professionals and so knowledgeable about their craft. I will be coming back for as long as they'll have me! read more

The auto shop was recommended to me by a co-worker and I was not disappointed. I was able to get an immediate appointment to check out a squealing sound coming from the brake area of my Pontiac Vibe. The diagnostic was free, and Chris, the owner, took the time to show me what he found (worn brake pads and roters) and the implications regarding functionality and safety. Chris did a more thorough evaluation of the vehicle than just focusing on the problem at hand. I received recommendations, ranked in order of priority, with estimates, but did not feel pressured or that the goal was an easy sell. On the contrary, the staff suggested waiting on a few maintenance items I inquired about. Everyone was efficient at their work and were also friendly and personable. The cost was of repair was fair. I have no regrets and plan to return for standard maintenance and any future repairs. read more

Highly recommend! He is the most trustworthy mechanic I have found, which is huge for anyone who doesn't know a lot about cars. My car had a disturbing rattling noise when accelerating. He accurately diagnosed it over the phone. When I brought my car in, it took him about 5 minutes to fix, so he didn't even charge me. Then, I recommended him to my mother for her scheduled maintenance on her Volkswagen Passat. The dealer's estimate for the service was outrageous. Maxwell Auto showed her exactly what the service entailed and how much each portion should cost and where the dealer was overcharging her. He performed the service in a timely manner for exactly what he estimated. I am now in the process of searching for a project car for him to fix up for me for my next vehicle. Can't say enough positive things about my experience! read more

Honest and friendly service. I have been bringing my VW Jetta here for all my service needs, they are the best in the area. Chris and Nick are always up front with problem diagnosis and what my options are. Prices for service are super reasonable and always explained before they start any work. The quality service and honest pricing have kept me coming back even after moving out of the area. This place has gotten busy (for good reason), so calling ahead is probably best, but they have always been accommodating for same day emergency repair. You can't go wrong with these guys, especially if you drive an Audi or VW. Check them out, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a great shop, recommend it highly! My daughters VW beetle needed some repairs, after she moved from Texas to Davenport. I did some searching for a shop in the area, made some calls to talk to different shops, asking some Questions about the repair she needed. ( I own a German car shop in Texas, so i know what i have to ask, and the answers i want to hear). I talked to Chris and did feel very comfortable with the answers i got. Chris is straight forward and knows his stuff, and they do great work. It is well worth it for my daughter to drive 60 miles to have Chris and the crew take care of her car. Keep up the good work Guys! read more

First visit to Maxwell Auto and already know I'll go no place else in the future. TRUST a huge deal to me and they have earned mine already. Shout out to Wes-- extremely professional, answered every question, explained everything thoroughly. Truly appreciated his professionalism. I've been going to see Chris and the guys at Maxwell Auto for about 10 years now, and I won't take my vehicles anywhere else. Their prices are great, and the service is unbeatable. They are always honest and very friendly. They let me know what work needs done and what is unnecessary. I always feel like they are looking out for me which I can't say for other repair shops I have visited in the past. If you give Maxwell Auto a chance you won't need to go anywhere else. I have had large and small jobs done and I always leave with a good feeling and know that they stand behind their work. read more

I am treated with respect and thoughtfulness at Maxwell auto and my car always receives the best service. I have a Volkswagon and I was told by the dealership that my air conditioning required an expensive replacement. Chris said more times than not it is a relatively inexpensive part that needs to be replaced and he was right. Two years later, it works perfectly. I have both an Audi and Volkswagon serviced at Maxwell Auto and I wouldn't go elsewhere. The mechanics are always honest, concise with diagnostics and the prices are fair. I'm so happy I found them! read more

Chris was a pleasure to meet and talk with about my car. I have an older Oldsmobile, and he warned me right off he might not be able to help. But once I got it there, Chris was able to diagnose the problem very quickly and offer a very reasonable rate to fix it. He was honest, personable, and knowledgeable. He even took the time to replace my friend's tail light while there. An honest and well-priced mechanic is a rarity. I would recommend everyone see Chris for car repairs, as long as he doesn't get so busy I can't get an appointment! read more

I highly recommend these guys! The reason I took my Chevy Impala to Maxwell's was for the outstanding price they quoted me. Their estimate was HALF the price of another shop. Here's why I'll go back... Incredibly friendly and professional Free inspection with an itemized list of fixes based on safety and priority AND they aren't pushy Up front pricing on labor and parts Fair on how they charge for labor When practical, they'll recommend inexpensive used parts These guys go above and beyond to take care of the car and the customer! read more

These guys are amazing. They are extremely polite and professional on the phone. When talking about your car's maintenance they don't push anything on you. They have never done work that they didn't talk with me about first. They make drop off, pick up and payment as easy for the customer as possible. Finally, the fairest pricing in town! If you're taking your VW to the dealership for service, you're doing yourself a disservice. read more

Have a used Mercedes C230 that no one else in town would work on and the dealer told me it was going to cost 6800 to fix my car. Took it to Chris where he replaced a module, that was found used for $150 total. Definitely going to be going back and recommending all of my friends to go there. Excellent Shop, with friendly, affordable service!!! read more
