If you're looking for an honest neighborhood shop, I highly…read morerecommend that you talk to Matt at Truetech automotive on Thacker St and first Avenue. Recently, the team at Truetech has done some work on my 2010 Ford Rscape and I couldn't be happier with the outcome that they've done. The work was completed in a timely fashion, the prices are reasonable for all things considered for the work that was completed. We will definitely be going back to Truetech for our Automotive needs. I do quite a bit of work on cars myself and I used to work at Pep Boys so am pretty familiar with…read morehow most shops operate. I normally go to other places when I don't have the tools, time, and or knowledge needed for some things. I will go over my first experience with this shop and why my wife and I go here when needed. I had an issue with an oil pressure sensor leak. I could see it, I know how much the part costs, and I know what needs to be done. However to actually access it would be a pain. I called them up and asked them how much it would cost to replace it. I believe I spoke to Steve and he mentioned generally about 200 or so. Now, that would be the case for many cars, but not this one. So I asked Steve if he could check book time. Book time is basically the amount of time, in a perfect scenario, it should take a mechanic to complete a task. They can then give you an estimate with respect to their labor rates. For example if hourly labor is 150 and book time for say changing a starter is 1h, they can say the labor cost will be $150. Steve looks at book time and is surprised because it's higher than normal about 2x more time and was wondering why. I mentioned, that to access it you have to essentially remove a few other components. He mentions, well, you can bring it in and we can take a look. I was hoping maybe they'd have easier ways of accessing it and mentioned I'm going to think on it a bit. I went under the car again and decided, "Nope. Too much work." I called back and setup an appointment. I drop off the car. I'm not happy with where the car manufacturers' engineers decided to shroud the oil pressure switch and essentially up the replacement cost but it is what it is. Anyway, I get a call back and the price I have to pay is essentially 1h and the part. I head on over and am very surprised. I forget the name of the mechanic (think it started with an M) but I asked them, "I'm surprised that you got it done so fast ... how?!" They mentioned they'd dealt with those cars before as they're common so they rigged up/made a special tool to reach in and do it. That was when I decided TrueTech is a stand up place. They could have charged book time and believe me you, I would've paid it. However they had a seasoned mechanic who knocked it out and passed those savings in their time, as savings in my pocket back to me. This isn't just a good honest mechanic being a good honest mechanic but also the higher ups, the managers and or owners. It seems that is their standard too as they've always been pretty booked which says they're more about doing good work in good time and if they make good headway, you may luck out. You may not, their call :-) but again, book time is perfect world setup, not rusted through, seized on, broken off ... stuff. It is still a good way to understand what you may be looking at aside from the actual part. Since then if and when needed, we go to TrueTech and we've always been happy. P.S. Once they have you in their system (i.e. e-mail / phone), their estimates app, progress, etc and everything is great. Especially if you have a smart phone. I saw where someone mentioned they had difficulty with getting a response and I haven't ran into that. If anyone does run into that, call them and just verify they have the right info.

I asked for a battery check while checking on my low tire..and came back that battery was ok. But maybe an alternator was needed if other issues we draining the battery. When I came back to get my tire I asked them to remove a charger I had in my car interior and turns out this might have been the culprit draining the battery. So all in, a new tire installed $100 at the beginning of cold stretch.

I went in there the day after we had a 9 inch snowfall. All I needed was some air in 1 tire. I asked the gentlemen that asked if he could help me if there was someone who could quickly air up the one tire showing it was low on my dashboard warning. HE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE AT LEAST AN HOUR BEFORE SOMEONE COULD TAKE CARE OF THAT!!! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?? AN HOUR TO PUT 3LBS. OF AIR IN 1 TIRE??? Obviously I left, went down the street to JUST TIRES where I was accommodated in 10mins!!! I did contact Cassidy headquarters, advised of the situation. They said they'd handle it, but we all know how that goes! I'm sure the guy still has his job and just got a slap on the wrist ! If he'd worked for me...I'd have fired him on the spot!! That's a customer service business, and that, in no way, was customer service !!

I respect the no weekend hours thing for the employees to have work-life balance, that just means you have to think ahead when scheduling your oil changes, no biggie! The only time I was disappointed by that schedule was when I got a nail in my tire and had to take it somewhere else to get patched up. I appreciate that when I go for my oil changes, they also check the tires, brakes, etc. to make sure that the car is safe. In an "emergency," when my battery light popped on, they squeezed me into their busy schedule and let me borrow a car to get my daughter to and from school. Outside of the exemplary service, I appreciate how Busse is involved in the community. There is always a thank you note hanging on their wall and I know from my daughter's activities that they put money back into the community by sponsoring. I trust Busse with my car. I trust that they are doing what needs to be done to keep the car safe and not have me spend money. One piece needed to be replaced before the warranty on the work was expired and it was fixed in a jiffy at no additional cost to me. They always explain to me what is going on and always answer my questions patiently. As my daughter gets closer to the age of driving and cars, I look forward to her being the 3rd generation that utilizes their shop!

Unfortunately I'm going to be finding a new shop going forward. They are generally decent guys, but my car always leaves with a new issue after I bring it in there: ex 1. Long ago I brought in my car for normal service and I left with my radio signal not working in my car (it worked perfectly fine before bringing my car in). Their response when I told them that my radio stopped working after bringing it into them was essentially "Nothing we did to your car should have affected the radio signal. We can give you the names of some specialty shops nearby if you want to get it looked into.", so there was strike #1 - radio stopped working and I just have to accept that. ex 2. I keep my car quite clean in general, but I always leave their shop with oily smudge marks on my mirrors, window/window frames, steering wheel and grease marks on rims. For a place that also operates as a detail shop, it'd be nice to not leave with a car that got dirtier compared to when I brought it in. ex 3. Just recently I brought my car in for an oil change. I was contacted and notified that my sway bar links could use replacement if I wanted and despite it being a pretty heavy fee (~$400 I want to say) I went ahead and said let's do it. They stated that there was some rattling come from there, and for years now my car has had a quiet rattle that you can hear from the outside of it so I was hopeful that this would fix that. The outcome of this work was the following: 1. the rattle noise did not go away; 2. I have a new leak underneath my front right tire directly corresponding to where they did work; 3. my suspension makes a new, very bad sounding click/crunch noise persistently driving over normal terrain - also I feel that the ride of my car got noticeably harsher after this latest service. So I would say that overall, you will be impressed likely when you first go to them: they usually have openings to get you in quickly, they are conveniently located in downtown MP (I would just walk to the shop from my house) and they are responsive, but I would absolutely steer people elsewhere. Not only are the on the "premium" side when it comes to pricing to begin with, but I have had numerous issues post-service at their shop that I just have to suck up and deal with? Unfortunate that your car can just be made worse by a mechanic and they can just get away with basically saying "sorry that's happening" in the end.

Considering my car is 10 years old and that I've been putting off some of the services for a while, I decided that it was time to get those done; however I didn't like the price that I was getting from this place or the other Mazda service centers I called. I figured I'd give a local shop a try and I'm extremely glad I did! From the very first call I was already feeling good about these guys. Lee picked up the phone pretty quickly; I asked if I could email the list of services to them and get their quotes, and he said no problem and gave me their email. He also answered a few other questions I had and kept everything effortless and professional. After I emailed them I got a quick reply from Brian who also answered my questions and provided the quotes, which were much more reasonable! It was very easy to make an appointment for my car, and even when I had to reschedule there was no trouble doing so. I dropped my car off in the morning and met both Lee and Brian who were both very friendly and personable. Their waiting room is comfortable with a TV, a fridge with water, and even some toys to keep kids occupied while you wait. Since I was leaving my car for the day I brought my Onewheel electric skateboard, which Lee saw, and he showed me his e-bike and we talked a bit about PEVs (personal electric vehicles) before I rode my Onewheel back home. My car was ready for pickup by the end of the day as they said it would be, and it's been running great ever since! I also recently got an oil change there and it was probably the fastest one I've experienced from giving them the keys to getting them back (no more than 45 minutes, compared to the dealership service center where I've waited ~90 minutes on average). Everything has been uncomplicated with no surprises so far! Aside from the quick and straightforward work that they do, I also appreciate that they have a rewards program that helps you save money on future services. They are also regular sponsors of local events and are a big part of the community. It feels much better bringing my car to a local shop that supports and gives back to the community rather than going to a dealership that doesn't really do that. I'll definitely be returning here again!
