Great experience here today! Last night, my car started shaking and vibrating like one of those massage chairs you sometimes see at the mall. Truly, I felt like Matthew McConaughey during the docking scene in Interstellar (2014). Plus a bunch of ominous and alarming lights turned on; my dashboard looked like the damn Fourth of July. Needless to say, I was in a state of considerable distress. On my sister's recommendation, I dropped my car off at DeSalvo around 2:15pm today. Murphey (another Interstellar [2014] parallel!) at the front desk was very helpful and calmed my panicked nerves. A technician called me around 3:45pm to diagnose the problem, let me know what it would cost to fix it (I'm no expert, but based on a quick Google investigation, it seemed very fair), and I picked my car up at 5:20pm. She's running perfectly, everything seems to be in tip-top shape, and I'm off to rewatch Interstellar (2014) with my peace of mind restored. Thanks, DeSalvo! If I could give a negative star I would. My drivers side door would not open from the inside or out. I had called ahead of my appointment to make sure they could do the repair and they assured me they could. I dropped my car at the appointment time and went to pick up my car rental. They called me to give me progress over the next 4 days including a confirmation that the job was complete and that they were just wrapping up. I called them a couple hours later to see if I could pick it up yet and was told that nothing had been done. I called my warranty with repair pal and they said that no one had ever called to initiate a repair. That meant that the warranty would not pay for my car rental. I went to pick up my car and talk to the manager Shaun. Through phone conversations Shaun said that he would reimburse me for my rental car which I sent via email on May 29th with no confirmation or response. A few months ago I was in a bind calling every mechanic in town to get different pricing for an issue going on with my truck and Shaun beat out everyone's prices by a long shot, a similar situation happened today and when I called Shaun he beat our other mechanic's quote by $300. I took my Mercedes in for a simple oil change. However, after leaving DeSalvo shop, my car leaked oil and my car was smoking and smelling. My under the hood was melting. Other cars at stop lights noticed and got my attention. They thought my car was on fire. We took it back to DeSalvo for them to clean up the oil spill, but the damage had been done. My check engine light lit up, then the fairly new battery light, then my car just died. I had to have it towed to my regular mechanic. DeSalvo picked up the tab for the new alternator, the battery was warranted so they did not have to pay for that, but they refuse to pay labor to my mechanic ($174) or the $65 tow. WOW, just wow. My car may even have more significant engine damage and they can't even pay labor to my mechanic. On top of that, they blamed the oil filter as being faulty and did not seal properly. No, your mechanic screwed up. If the oil filter was faulty, that should have been caught upon putting it in. read more

so a few months earlier I brought my car in to have the tires changed. I had purchased the tires from someone else and brought them to desalvo and they put them on and aligned them for a pretty decent price. Naturally, when my a/c broke a few weeks ago so brought it to desalvo bc i trusted they would be able to since they've helped me before. I gave them my keys and within minutes they called me out bc the car would not start. they tried jumping it and tried jumping the second battery only when i pointed out that there was two. Shaun has always been super sweet but this time he was extremely unpleasant. even when i was on the verge of tears and he remained rigid and offered no reassurance whatsoever. they proceeded to keep my car for 3 days and didn't even start to work on it until they were almost closing the second day. we asked only that they keep us updated on what they were doing, but they never called us once. only when we called them and showed up they even told us what was going on. I ended up having my car towed to a different shop, where they solved the issue in a few hours. Absolutely incompetent, unprofessional, and rude. read more

Usually satisfactory service here so three stars to be fair, but very disappointed in my recent visit. I only asked to check if a tire was under warranty and instead they just went ahead and fixed it and charged me without letting know it wasn't under warranty. They basically either did not bother to listen to me or took advantage and I will not return to give them any more of my business in the future. read more

I thought that I already did this review, but it's not showing up. So, I am going to take the time to do it again, as this business deserves all the praise I can give. My daughter had an issue with her car. A rude neighbor decided to mess with her, and removed her gas cap. We thought for sure that they put something in her gas tank, so we told her NOT to start it. I called a childhood friend that knows everyone at the Beach, and he recommended DeSalvo. I am SO glad that I called. I spoke with an extremely nice & helpful gentleman, I believe his name is Frank, but I am not positive, as it has been a couple of months. He told me that based on the year/make of her car, it would cost around $300 to drop the gas tank and clean it out, and it could be more if he had to chemically clean the tank. Well, we had to have it checked out, as $300 was way better than having to replace an engine. A day or so later, Frank called me and told me that he had good news. First, the car has an access panel to the fuel tank inside the trunk, and there wasn't anything in the fuel tank!! The charge ended up only being $90.00. Now, he could have charged us the $300 and we would have been none the wiser. It was very refreshing to deal with someone so honest. As, my experience with mechanics hasn't always been the best. Especially, being a woman, they seem to see us coming and take advantage. (Of course, NOT all mechanics are dis-honest) However, I know, first hand, that Frank @ DeSalvo's is honest, and truly cares about his reputation and repeat customers. Out of town and ran over nails. This is the third place I came before being told they could take care of it. The other stores would barely even look at the tire and acted as if I was an inconvenience.
