Went anyway, and glad I did. Calvin is an experience transmission mechanic (40years) and knows what he's talking about. Don't expect him to repair your whole car if you ask for transmission service. Don't expect him to eat the cost of a new transmission if you added a transmission cooler and didn't secure the line, and kept driving it after it leaked out TWO GALLONS of transmission fluid. My transmission need a broken pump repaired. In the course of the work, Calvin discovered that the wrong oil filter was previously installed (and corrected it). Charged me for two hours work and I was out the door for way less than I thought possible. I would recommend this honest mechanic to anybody. He knows what he' s doing. The previous poor ratings seem very unfair after dealing with him first hand.
