The journey of a thousand miles, starts with one step. As soon as I stepped into the showroom...ok, the lobby, which looked like a showroom, I was treated like a "Valued Customer"...you know the words. Lots of businesses use them, but Holabird Tire and Auto means it. I'm talking from the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a man who looked at me when I came in and actually said hello. That may not seem like a big deal to you, but how many times have you gone someplace and the person sitting there, didn't even acknowledge you? It's like you don't exist. I don't like being treated that way. I knew I made the right choice to bring my vehicle to them. They give a darn about the customer. I was happy as a lark because I knew I was going to get quality service...and that's in just the words: "Hello. How can I help you"? Everything was neat and orderly. No grease all over the place or abandoned auto parts everywhere. No ripped upon chairs with duct tape on them. And trust me, on my journey to find a decent auto repair shop, I've seen some real sloppy and disgusting places. Once, a "mechanic" lost his tools at a place I visited. Couldn't find them anywhere and once he did that, I had to leave. The only reason I stayed as long as I did was because it was raining and I couldn't get my umbrella to open up fast enough. Plus, the proprietor promised deep discounts. Well, cheap is definitely CHEAP! No thanks. Let me continue with the showroom...um, lobby. It was very nicely laid out. Awesome rims & tires were on display in a nice/arrangement. There were very comfortable padded chairs. Not the old fashioned metal fold ups...you know the ones. They grab you-um- where you try to sit. Painful, indeed. At Holabird Tire & Auto, you don't have to worry about that. They even have a nice table and chair set for the future car owners...they have their own little table, complete with toys for them to play with. It definitely helps keep the little drivers from driving you crazy. Gives them something to do while mom and dad wait. Oh yeah, I almost forgot-there's coffee for those who may need or want an eyeopener. To top it off, there's a pinball machine in the showroom...ok, lobby. I'll get the hang of that sooner or later. I'm not even kidding. It's great! Here's where the rubber meets the road-YOU CAN'T BEAT THE SERVICE. When the tech took my auto in to diagnose the problem, I had every confidence that I would be given the straight story...not a lot of word salad and untruths just to jack up the price. I am so thankful because without their help, I would have been stranded on the road somewhere cursing and crying. Holabird Tire and Auto gives quality service, not lip service. They respect the customer and they keep their clientele informed. Rather than shove things at you to pressure you in to getting high dollar things done, they give you the information, explain in detail and let you decide. Oh, and before I forget...everything that is brought in the shop on any day, is fixed and out the door the same day. HELLO!! Can you beat that? NO!! I could rave on and on, but I have to say, the value is beyond compare. They even do small things that you don't ask for but they know will help your vehicle remain healthy--yes! I said healthy. After all, Holabird Tire and Auto are like doctors. Whatever is wrong with your baby, they'll cure it. Take your car there when you need it to be serviced. I promise you, you won't be disappointed. I am certainly grateful for the great job they've done for me on my little "Silver Fox" - ok, dramatic...but it's my silver Subaru. I love the way they took care of it. And who am I kidding. At the age of 70, I doubt if I'll be getting another vehicle anytime soon. So, I've gotta keep this one running. They are on speed dial for whenever I need anything done to my Forester. I've already told my daughter, Desiree' and her two girls, Ashley and Alexis not to take their cars anywhere other than Holabird Tire and Auto for anything they need done to their cars. They always listen to me...you should too. BTW ladies...the restroom is awesome. No dirty, nasty, stinky facility. It's very nicely decorated, and extremely clean. They treat people with honesty and do quality work. I've had major and minor work performed and have always had an excellent experience. They have a great reputation for a reason. Today in particular my car wouldn't start and they found it was just a loose terminal on the battery. Took care of it and didn't try and upsell on something unnecessary like an alternator or starter. read more

The service I got here felt so stellar that i was compelled to write a review -- in hopes, to promote Holabird T&A's business. I had driven over a sharp metal object - the tech said maybe a piece of fencing - on a Friday night which left my tire hissing from losing air. I happened to also have a slow leak in ANOTHER tire, as well, that I wanted to have repaired. I was a little discouraged, that Saturday, because Saturday mornings are not the best time to find an auto service place without an appointment. I called by telephone first, and, the person who answered was very welcoming for my business -- "Come on by!". I drove up, got out of the car, told the guy what i wanted -- was instructed to move the car to a certain bay. The mechanic was SO FAST, it seemed like he had plugged the first tire before I had a chance to put the car into park, and the second tire repaired before I could get out of the car--now this is only a slight exaggeration. The mechanic seemed very experienced in tire repair and, by his deliberateness, I had full confidence that it was done properly. I arrived, got tires fixed, invoice paid ($20x2=$40), and back in the car going home, in UNDER 15 minutes. To be totally honest, I was hoping to play their pinball machine in the lobby but everything happened so fast, I was overjoyed. Thank you, Holabird Tire & Auto! read more

They're very responsive, prices are reasonable, and I've never felt dumb going to them for the smallest issues with my car. I have been around a long time and this is by far the worst experience in getting my vehicle repaired that I have ever had. One block down the street from here, there are employees at Amazon, with over 13,5000 employees; right down the street from this place. I'm going to need for each and every one of them, and whom ever else is reading this to stay completely clear of this place and those people. They will rip you off with substandard work and parts and will growl at you for coming back once you notice. And for that reason alone, I don't trust them, as if people do not know their cars / truck's normal operational nature and dynamic to know when it has been altered. I mean, I don't know what say, we drive our cars everyday single day of the week! We know when our vehicles are not right. The front desk customer service interaction completely and utterly stinks. The lady at the front desk there acts as if she wants to "string you up" if you seemingly to her, not understand what she is ever explaining to you, when you clearly do. Shes hiding behind some type of anger or aggression. It's obvious. She is a clear, clear representation of everyone there, on up to the owner/s. Clearly. I doubt it if I'm and wrong, or she would be there. And she's comfortable with her outward sourness. - (((Changing parts frenzy)) $97/hr. The major part about why this place sucks ass is, they don't troubleshoot problems but go on a changing parts out hunt to fix problems to get your vehicle repaired, all AT YOUR EXPENSE... along with ((($97 / hour labor rate))). Then, your vehicle will literally come out with new problems than what the problem was before it went in. Stay away from these people. They use cheap after market parts and are extremely expensive, cheap parts and labor. I needed simple repairs had to go back multiple times, well over $1000 in and still have problems, along new ones. They are not right. I really wish I could say more. read more

Initially took our car in dec 2022 for some issues. after having the car for 2 months, we got it back and immediately the check engine light came on. Called back and we were told the sensor just needed to be cleaned. Took it back, had the sensor cleaned and again, the light came on. Was told at that point nothing could be done And to just "keep an eye" and let them know if anything else happens. Fast forward to now, Feb 2024. The car has been in the shop 6 times since the initial visit (minimum 2 weeks in the shop per visit). It's gotten 5 new turbos. And all we are told is "we don't know what's wrong" the car has now been in the shop over a month Again. No one calls us to give updates-we always have to call and then getting an answer is a whole different issue Because no one picks up or calls back. The only reason we came back after the first time was because we thought they "knew" what was going on. I'll never bring another car here again. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT DEAD. Found a screw stuck in my tire. Took my car to a national brand tire store where, instead of patching the tire, a couple of hacks completely destroyed the darn thing. Subsequently called about ten places all of whom either didn't carry my brand of tire or couldn't get it for a week. Enter Scott at Holabird. He also couldn't get the tire for a week, but instead of leaving it at that, he suggested a way for me to get the tire quicker! He actually told me I should buy the tire FROM SOMEONE ELSE and have it shipped direct to Holabird for installation. Fast forward two days: Tire is on, I'm super happy, and this experience will make me think of Holabird first for my future car-fixing needs. read more

So..I drive a hybird, which means that I usually pay anywhere from $50-75 for my oil changes. I saw a coupon in the Baltimore City Paper for Holabird, which offered an oil change for just $20. I called to make sure this would apply to my hybrid, and much to my surprise, they said yes. I asked about making an appointment, and they said they just take walk-ins. This was fine with me. Then I made the mistake of going in the Friday before Easter at 3p. Of course, they were busy. The very nice man behind the counter said he thought it would take an hour. I said fine, I'll wait. They have a TV in the lounge, and no one else was waiting, so he gave me the remote to watch anything I wanted. My only complaint is their selection of magazines leaves something to be desired, but hey! Everyone has smartphones these days. I had no problem just goofing on facebook and dealing with work emails. After an hour, I noticed that they still hadn't taken my car back. I went up to the clerk and asked what was up, and he profusely apologized that they hadn't gotten to my car yet. I was disappointed that I'd have to bring it back, but since the coupon was about to expire, he said if I came back, he'd still honor it. So, while I was a little unhappy that he didn't tell me it would take longer tha he originally said, I WAS happy that he'd still honor the discount. I went back today, and they got my oil change done in..no joke..15 minutes! I saved so much on the oil change, I was able to then take my car for a wash, and still walk away with pocket change. The brakes they did for my car caused me to get in a accident and I was charged almost 800 dollars for the brakes rotors and something was locked. None the less my brakes keep sliding and I don't even want to address them about it because I know it won't be fixed. It's been a bout over a month but I failed to been leave a review. I'm practically about to crash in the rain. read more

They diagnosed a very minor coolant leak on my 2013 VW CC (coolant levels would be low every three weeks after being toped off) as being caused by a defective auxiliary water pump. They replaced the part, but problem persisted and three weeks later I was low on coolant again. They then said I had a blown head gasket, which was causing the engine to burn the coolant, and refused to reimburse me for the previous service, claiming that this was a different problem. I took it to a different shop, where they confirmed that the issue was always with the main water pump (not the auxiliary one, not the head gasket). I had that replaced and the leak was gone. Don't trust these people with your car. They don't know what they are doing and will not own up to their mistakes, which will inevitably happen. read more

My car stopped in Canton and had to be towed somewhere for battery and alternator. My AAA agent recommended Holabird Tire (I had no idea where it was but it is only 5 min drive from Canton) so I sent out car over there and I am very pleased with their service. They finished the work by next day so I was able to pick up my car by 5PM and the service charge was very reasonable. I am glad to find a reliable auto service place near my house and highly recommend it. read more

SOOO- Driving from Florida to New Hampshire -just broke down in Baltimore :(Stuck here for a few hours but thankfully we have a guardian angel watching over.) We found a wonderful mechanic shop who is going above and beyond with customer service. This is a very expensive job and their price is very fair. So honest, caring and genuine. Even the bathroom is pleasent! Bagels, coffee AND waffles too. It's St.Patty's day and there's no attitude whatsoever about having this big random job of replacing our converter out of the blue. Worst service ever. Highly expensive. Went there for a tire valve . First the woman did not know what a tire valve was she said it has to be order. Additionally, she had to check with the tech. I took the tire off my vehicle with no help. Poor customer service . She charged my $15 to change a tire valve . Two tire valve cost $2 at Walmart . I've been a customer of Holabird Tire and Auto for probably 15 years now, and they are the best auto service I've ever done business. They are reliable, honest, knowledgeable, and efficient.. If you don't need something, they won't sell it to you. Today I suspected my ignition switch was beginning to fail when I took my car in for an oil change. They checked it out and reported no problem with ignition. I know nothing about cars or car maintenance, so a maintenance shop--with less integrity--may have replaced the switch anyway. I came to Holabird Tire Company the other day because I had a screw in my tire. I work down the street at amazon. Not only did they plug my tire fast as in 5 minutes, but they also had a coffee bar, candy on the counter and the lady was very friendly. The mechanic billy was very helpful and nice and explained to me how the screw got stuck, and told me an amount if i wanted to purchase a new one, or get a used tire. I will never take my car here ever again. They kept replacing parts on my car and charging me. Day after day they kept calling me about no knowing what was wrong with the car and they would replace more parts. After 5 days, we told them to stop and take it elsewhere. When we took it to another shop, they hooked it up to a computer and found out that it was only a loose wire. I didn't have a car for over a week and didn't have a way to get to work... Therefore I lost out on a lot of money by bringing my car here. read more
